| charmed239 | 10-24-2008 08:35 PM | I to have a yorkie with thin fine hair on his head...He is now 7 months old, and his puppy hair was always kinda dry and corse I let it grow as much as possible but i found it was just getting longer and stringy still very fine, so I recently shaved off all the puppy hair and gave him a shorter haircut on the head, the hiar underneath (on the body) was sooooo much nicer and the hair on his head since I cut it looks alot fuller and actually feels thicker as well, So my advice to you would be to let it grow out for a little while and then give him a nice hair cut this should add body to the hair. the puppy hair can be less then beautiful! but the plus side is that the new growth underneath is usually much nicer softer and shiner as well as thicker! so there is a possibly that there will be a beautiful coat underneath, and giving a layered type cut on the head can help with the thin fine hair, you know with our own hair when we have fine hair and we get our hiarcut it makes it fuller. the same seems to be true with yorkies..give it time its most likely fine and thin just because its his puppy hair, and if you are feeding a GOOD QUALITY food,and nurashing the skin and coat from the inside as well as using a good shampoo and conditioner, your baby should end up with the new growth being much much nicer. 5 or 6 months is a good time to cut off the puppy hair and give the head a nice shorter cut, and then you can let it grow again to see how much differnce there is. just keep in mind their coat changes many times untill their adult coat comes in compleatly. |
