Have you ever seen an unattractive Yorkie? 4 Attachment(s) Have you ever seen an unattractive Yorkie? All of the Yorkies on here are so so beautiful. They are just amazing looking! I sometimes feel like my Buddy isn't as beautiful or as handsome as some of the Yorkies on this site. Although, I would NEVER trade him ever, I love him so much and he is a GREAT dog, I just feel like I never get the "Oh my gosh he is so cute" compliments, anywhere I go. I get the "He is such a great, well-behaved dog" comment, which makes me feel good as an owner, but once and a while I would love to hear that I have a beautiful or cute Yorkie, and I just never seem to get that. Is that because he isn't a peanut and doesn't weight 5 lbs and he weighs 10 lbs? Just wondering if the tiny teeny dogs get the cute comments more than the bigger Yorkies? I love my Buddy and he is the best! He is cute, handsome and beautiful to ME! |
I think your Buddy is adorable and I'm surprised that you haven't gotten any comments about that. He has such a sweet face and seems to be smiling for the camera. I don't think size determines how cute our furbabies are. What's more important is that they are our babies and they are great little dogs and a great breed to own. My Bailey thinks your Buddy is very handsome ;) !!! :aimeeyork |
She is very CUTe, I have a 10 pound Yorki, I do know what you mean. When I had a tiny one, it was always, look at that pup , on and on. Just becouse there small makes people comment. My 10 pounder is the first 100% housebroken Yorkie I've ever had,,,,,,,so I LOVE her, and I think she is adorable. :D |
Well, i think he is SUPER CUTE!!!!:D:D:D and trust me, getting the compliment about him being a well behaved dog is way better. i mean, i think that's the most important thing! i've seen some really cute yorkies, but they are not well-trained and well-bahaved, and they give yorkies the bad reputation of barky crazy little dogs...:p and when i was getting my baby milu, there was a little boy who was a bigger yorkie, and he was absolutely adorable, and the breeder was selling him for less money, (i can't remember why he was doing that) (just cause he is bigger? that's silly!) i really wanted to get that 'little' boy ;) but i REALLY wanted a girl yorkie so i can put dress on her! so i didn't get the adorable boy yorkie. anyway, i think Buddy is adorable! if people didn't tell you he is cute, that's because they are crazy. ;) |
You have the best of both worlds...an adorable yorkie who is well behaved. You are one lucky owner!!! |
Aw you guys are great! And believe it or not, if the Yorkie is bigger they are sold for less. I have NO idea why, but they are. The tinier ones and females go for the most expensive then the teeny males, then the bigger ones are like discounted, which must make them feel like an outcast. I know if I was a dog, I would feel bad, that people may not want me just cuz I am a few pounds bigger. Thanks guys! You made my day! :animal-pa Buddy is getting his first grooming since I have had him in 2 weeks, so we will see how he looks then! I hope not too different, because I LOVE the way his fur is covering his eyes and face! It is cute! :aimeeyork |

anyways, they are all lovable!!!:D but there are some concerns as well, when your baby is tiny. another example is that i can never sleep well at night, because i am always worried that i will crush my baby. also, i need to put a bell on her, otherwise it's hard for me to find her sometimes! LOL:D buddy is cute :) where are you taking him for his grooming? make sure you really communicate with the groomer and make sure they understand how you want buddy's hair cut to look like, i was upset after milu's first hair cut, because i didn't like the way it looked. so now i always REALLY make sure they know how i want them to cut milu's hair. :D:D:D |
I love the pup cut and I think that is what I am going to go for. I am NOT taking him to PetCo or PetSmart, because I have heard some horror stories, so I am taking him to a local groomer in RI. I plan on watching because I got puppy clippers and after I take him a few times, I plan on doing it myself. So hopefully I am a fast learner! :) |
I think Buddy is adorable!!!! He's such a handsome little fella, wish I could just squeeze him up ~~~:aimeeyork~~~ hehe! |
Oh my....... are you kidding??? Buddy is a very cute!!! I love the 2nd pic of him............. You have lots of choices as far as a cut for him. The puppy cut is very cute!.... you could even leave it long enough on his head for a topknot! (unless he doesn't like bows/barrettes). :D |
He does not like bows or barrettes and I am not a fan on them for male dogs either. I don't think my hubby would be thrilled walking a male with a bow! Lol, that is just how males think. Lol. What cuts do you all suggest for him? |
[QUOTE=MissTinkerbelle;2288907]Have you ever seen an unattractive Yorkie? Perish the thought ;) esp here:D But no I never have. Tina:) |
Your Buddy reminds me of my Daisy :) She is a very good dog, I wouldn't say the most well behaved dog I've ever seen, but she's a real sweetheart. When I take Abby and Daisy out, people will actually say to me that they like the little one best  I want to cover Daisy's ears! Granted, Abby is adorable and tiny, but Daisy is gorgeous! People are just drawn to smaller dogs I guess. We also have an 85 lb Golden Retriever and you couldn't ask for a sweeter dog than her. BTW, I love a puppy cut on Daisy. She looks so pretty right after a good grooming. I think Buddy is very handsome! If you ever get tired of people not giving him enough compliments, you could always send him to me :D;) |
1 Attachment(s) I think that all dogs have their special "look" and that doesn't mean they're not "cute"...I have yet to see a dog that I thought was ugly...they are allll cute to me, but ESPECIALLY yorkies ;). On that note, Maddie says to tell you that it's what's on the INSIDE that counts...lol :D |
your dog is very cute! i wonder why people don't make comments about how sweet he looks. it's funny, charlie is a scruffy, stinky little guy, but since he's so tiny, he gets tons of comments when we take him for walks, and it helps that he's so loving to everyone. |
My first Westie was so far out of standard, we called him Westie Giganticus. He was about 25-28 lbs. His ears were too big, his tail was too long, and his heart was as big as they come. He, too, had one ear up and one ear down. I consider myself blessed to have had him in my life for a little over 15 years. I loved that dog, and he loved us back. What a GREAT dog. Being within "standard" doesn't mean jack diddly when it comes to the love we share. You love Buddy and he loves ya back. What more could you ask? And if some people don't see his beauty, they're the ones that are losing out. Give him an extra hug and skritch for me, willya? |
Buddy is adorable! I have an 8 lb yorkie (Chip) and a 14 lb yorkie (Smokey) and I do tend to get more compliments on my little one, but I still hear some about Smokey too. I think Buddy looks a lot like Smokey in the face. :-) |
We have 2 Yorkiebabys & BOTH were the last of the litter. Bear (aka Clarence) & Weezie (aka Keegan) have floppy ears, Bear has a collapsed trachea, heart problems he is shaped like a barrel but we ADORE him. Weeze has seizures& hates a brush...that is totally ok with us..his antics completely 'pay' for his lack of sophicatication. My friend, you cannot decide where love finds you. Kisses to you & your pup.....he IS the boy!!! Enjoy. |
They are all cute!!! I have taken mine out a few times and most of the time people never say anything. I think a lot of people think we just have then as accessories. But to me they are beautiful. Buddy is very handsome, by the way. |
Your buddy looks a lot like my Coco. She is 8 lbs. and has great coloring just like your Buddy. I love that dog, but as with you, the little ones get the "Ohhh" comments, and Coco gets the "what a nice dog" comments. Funny thing though, my last three litters it was the biggest boy that was the first to be sold. People just fell in love with those pudgy boys. |
I think Buddy is very handsome! My first yorkie (Ivy Lucille) (RIP) was 13 pounds. She was my love. It was a long time before I could bear to take on another yorkie because I was afraid of having to go through that pain again. But I did---2x! I got my Mayzie first. She was just a pup when I got her. She came from a litter of 7 and her mom was a 13 pounder. Mom seemed much bigger than my first yorkie was even though they weighed the same. Anyway, I got Mayzie not knowing/caring how big she would be. She is 7 lbs now at almost 3 yrs. Mo was rehomed to me when he was 3 and he was just a tiny thing 4.6. Let me tell you, when they are both together, he is the one that gets all the attention. I get "she is so big" "oh is he a teacup" "I like him best" blah blah blah. All of this to say: All yorkies big or small are wonderful! |
Your Buddy is ADORABLE! I don't think the size of a Yorkie makes them more or less adorable, to me, its all in their eyes . I think you have it made, a well behaved, adorable Yorkie!!! In answer to the question, I think everyone looks at something different as to what appeals to them. I've seen large Yorkies and small Yorkies that are equally cute. ps, I forgot to add that I have a Bichon, who in his heydey weighed 32 lbs (quite large for a Bichon) and I think he is attractive because he has a huge Heart. He is old and weighs somewhat less now, but he is as beautiful to me today as the day I brought him home almost 15 years ago :-) |
Your baby boy is just too cute!!! I honestly think all Yorkies are adorable..but I am espically fond of the ones who have manners and is well behaved! Its nothing worse than to see a cute small dog and then realize he is a yappy little devil!! LOL I also agree with the last comment that a lot people just like smaller dogs. When I went hunting for breeders, I would specifically ask them how big they expected their pups to be..or how big the parents were. I did not want a small Yorkie because of all the health problems I had heard about. Chloe parents are 5 pounds and I am okay with that, but I would had also loved to have had a Yorkie who parents were a little bigger! Where I messed up was I went to visit the breeder to just "look" and fell in LOVE!!! |

I think Buddy is PRECIOUS! I LOVE his ears. He looks like he's just ready to play. :p Sometimes I wish I had a yorkie that was standard...you know...long flowing hair, small up ears, smaller (this is in addition to Tucker lol, I wouldn't trade him for the world), and I'd still love to have one one day. But Tucker is my baby and he is steady as a rock - I don't have to worry too much if he jumps off the couch or bed or trips down the last step, you know? I feel like I can really *play* with him without breaking him. :p and he's such a good boy. AND he's a cutie-patootie. He's not the drop-dead gorgeous kind of yorkie, he's the puppy-looking adorable kind. and I love every bit of him. |
Oh my gosh it's hurts my heart to think your feelings have been hurt!!! Buddy is DARLING!!!!!!!!! Oh my gosh!!! I LOVE the biggers ones and the smaller ones- in fact I love them all!!! The fun thing about a bigger one is when they lay in your lap you get all that extra lovin'! Ranger is a smaller guy (5lbs) and people rarely say things to me about him, in fact, I get lots of scrutinizing looks like they think all of us with little dogs are trying to be Paris or something.. sigh. At least we have each other!!!!!! :p Anyway- tell Buddy that I think he is SUPER handsome! |

I think he's amazing and adorable:) I have two girls, Luna is teeny weeny and Izzy is 8 lbs. I do get so many comments about Luna and how cute she is, but everyone seems to ignore my Izzy:cry: It is unfair, I know:( It\'s like someone commenting on how cute one child is while totally ignoring the other:mad: |
I have seen some advertised that I can\'t figure out! This breed is absolutely gorgeous. Haven\'t seen an ugly one yet. I don\'t understand how some of these breeders are getting away with selling "rare, exotic, chocolate, golden," Yorkshire Terriers. In doing my homework through the AKC and online, it is my understanding there is no such thing. Yet, these breeders are getting enormous fees for these puppies that are not recognized as the breed standard. Am I wrong? If so can someone set me straight. I am sick to death of reading how it is all about the babies but they are shipped clear across the globe. "We will sell you a dog for 1500. plus with limited registration because we are protecting the breed." Can the public be that out of touch. There is no such thing as a TEACUP Yorkie. Parents are buying them for their children because it\'s the "in" thing. How sad is this. These dogs are not meant to be handled by children. Yet families are asking to adopt one or buy one for their kids. |
