People can be so ignorant! It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks of your baby(s) - you know the truth. I'd rather be with Lucy and Rebel than a LOT of people I know. |
That's too bad people say mean things. I hope she regrets it. I would let her know how it made you feel. Yorkies may be small, but their hearts are huge! Don't let someone like that make you feel bad. You know what your dog would do for you. Plus, she can like people to death!! :) lol |
This reminds me of what happened to my (then) husband about 30 years ago. We had a real nice cat that was very loving. Well he locked himself out of the house (old house) and tried to get in by taking off the screen and crawling through the window. Well, our cat didn't like that and went on the attack. My ex was actually afraid of the cat at that moment.:D |
Alright, I can understand the "lack of brains" from others on this issue. They just have NO idea. Don't they know the "little ones" rule the roost? I had a 4 pound Pom and he bossed the rott, and the rott backed down. In fact if Viper did something and Herky, the pom, wanted to show him, he grab his lip, Viper would stand and Herky would hang from his lip, Viper would just look at us for help. (our rott weighed in at about 200 pounds!) Of Course they can defend us! They are much bigger than they look! :D |
I've had the same problem with my yorkie she is 3lbs...and I shaved her...and everyone was saying "its not a dog..its a rat!". and The same thing that someone else stated about "get a real dog" I've heard them all and it really makes me upset because It is not right for them to talk about our babies when they have dogs of their own no matter what size. A dog is a dog no matter what size! Its not like we go around and tell big dog owners that they have a bear or bigfoot. ? |
Your colleagues have no idea what they are talking about. I mean just look at my Squeekie whose 6 lbs, she put a headlock on her mom Naboo who's double her size at 15 lbs!! SANY0212.flv - Video - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting |
I'm sorry you got your feelings hurt. People can be so insensitive at times. :( |
Kick him against a wall???  How dare she say that to you! Some people are so dang inconsiderate and downright RUDE. She obviously doesn't know anything about the Yorkshire Terrier breed. Yes they may indeed be small, and no they wouldn't "do damage" to someone like a (please, no one get mad at me for saying this - lol) Pit Bull could...HOWEVER, the Yorkshire Terrier is WELL KNOWN for being very protective of their owners, and for being good watch dogs. If she knew anything about the breed, she'd know this  Big hugs to you sweetie and I am so sorry that she has upset you :( I say just blow her off! :thumbdown |
I don't care how big the dog is, when you are alerted to an intruder, you call the police. Yorkies can be excellent "watch dogs" (rather than "guard dogs") n that they are very aware, alert dogs. THAT SAID, yorkies are very intelligent and protect in other ways too -- one YT member was alerted to a smoldering basket in her house before it went up in flames. (And don't forget Milu "took care" of her Mommy by helping her ace the job interview :) ) |
That was mean but I know my little guys will chew someone's ankles off if they "break in" our house...My husband has seen them do it. |
I mean, yea, they are small, but just the bark alone would sometimes deter a burglar... that's why when my two bark in the middle of the night, I don't stop them... I just let them bark because I don't want them to think they'd get in trouble for protecting us. |
