I'm sorry it didn't work out!! |
sorry wasn't trying to be rude...just from my perspective I believe that when you bring a baby home it's supposed to stay. And you really didn't give it any time to work out. A couple days? So it just bothers me when people give up so quickly! In the end what's most important is that the baby is in a home where it will be taken care of. So I am very happy that Drake is in a better home! This is a PUBLIC forum..so you need to be prepared that not everyone is going to totally agree with you all the time. |

Good Post. I think you should have either waited and been more patient to get him or been more patient with him and buddy or taken people's advice who have owned yorkies for a long time and considered the nutering thing. I hope this doesnt cause tension but I just think now drake will not know where his home is and be a poor confused baby :( |

Secondly, people have messaged me saying I should have waited to get Drake since Buddy is still new to my home. I was so excited and love Buddy so much I figured I could give more love out. HE WAS AGGRESSIVE! I talked to a professional dog trainer and she said once he lunges at the neck and doesn't let go and puncture and causes BLOOD that is aggression. He needs to be in a home with no other animals. That is it. I understand this is a public forum and you have the right to say whatever you want, but be tactful and decent about it and don't make the other person feel bad for their choices. YOU LIVE AND YOU LEARN. And I did, unfortunately, the hard way. I just had to give a dog for adoption that I loved. I didn't want to do it but I did it because it was in the best interest for Buddy. Buddy could have turned into an aggressive dog from Drake (told from the dog trainer). So I did what was best for me, my husband, Buddy and Drake. And the neutering things... people please get over it. It is MY dog, if we choose not to neuter Bud than that is OUR choice. I would NEVER tell you what to do with your pets when it comes to spay/neutering them. Okay. Thanks |

You didn't start this thread asking for advice like in your other one. You started it just to let everyone know you had made the decision to return Drake. I think everyone should respect your decision and keep any negative opinions to themselves. |

ENOUGH with the neutering. Ok, I don't WANT or NEED anyone's opinion about the neutering so please keep that to your self. Me and my Yorkie Buddy are perfectly happy, and he is not getting neutered anytime in the near future. Every time I look at this thread or my other threads I get criticized for not neutering my Buddy. It is MY dog and MY choice. Can we PLEASE stop shoving the neutering thing down my throat. K? The topic of neutering is done and over with, thank you very much! |
Chill. |
I have 2 male yorkie that are half brothers ages 1 1/2 yr and 8 mos, they get along great with each other never had a problem, and they are not neutered. I had plan on doing it made the appointment but couldn't go through with. I am a coward because my first yorkie died while going under to be neutered, I know it's one in a thousand that this happens too but it happen to me, I had per work up done and it still happen. I am sure there some out there that will rake me over the coals for my decision too. |
Now, I'm not saying this in a mean way..my sister has two males that have been neutred, and they will nip at eachother once in awhile, not very much..I think the only reason people like to see males neutered (if not going to use for breeding) is for a lot of reasons..the make much better pets if they're neutered, they're less likely to run out the door when a female is in heat, and it cuts the risk of them getting cancer way down..You don't have to get offensive with me, I don't care what you do with your dog, I just know for myself, I have seen a lot of them that haven't been fixed, and they're all the time over in my yard..I just know first hand, when they are neutered, they do make much better pets, and they don't go around marking everywhere in the house..I have 3 inside dogs, and 2 outside ones, never had a fight at all in this house, they learn right off who the top dog is(which is me), and there wouldn't ever be any fighting allowed in the house |
First off I will not chill, because it happens to me every time I post a thread that mentions he is not fixed. And Ichabob, thanks for understanding my position. I have a VERY personal reason why I can't go through with it and if people can't understand that they really need to just not comment and make people feel worse than they already do. Every time I hear "get him neutered","if you loved him you'd get him fixed", etc, it brings me back to my past, and I have specific reasons why I can't go through with it. SO PLEASE do NOT mention the neutering thing anymore to me. |

Thank you for putting it in a nice manner and not shoving the issue down my throat. I appreciate the facts and I like how you worded it and made it sound like it was my decision and didn't make me feel horrible for not doing it. I appreciate your tact and respect. |
Timing ?? Hello Tinkerbelle, Sorry it did not work out with Drake and Buddy, I think that some of the reaction you are getting is because in your other post "Help Me Convince My Husband" you were so heartfelt and urgent about getting Drake, so people emphatize with you and were surprise that you rehomed him after one day. The aggression definitely is a game changer. It sounds like timing was the main contributing factor....1) you brought together two brand new puppies, one was in your home for a week, the other for a day both were already under stress adjusting to a major change in their enviroment. 2) Drake is 7 months (how old is Buddy?) hormones start coming in around 6 months so they are already going to be prone to aggression. I think that in time or at another time you would have had a better result with the two dogs. You're wise to let Buddy adjust. Did Drake come from a good environment...a caring breeder? Why was she giving him away for free...maybe he has a history of agression??? If your sister keeps him, in time he and Buddy may get along. Another thing to consider Yorkies are VERY territorial, so when they initially meet a future sibling it should be in a neutral area like a park. Start them out by going on a walk together before bringing them home. The walk releases pent up energy, relaxes them and help them share and bond in a pleasant experience. Good luck. :aimeeyork:animal-pa |

He was not mean towards me, but did nip at my hubby a few times and of course Buddy, but I think he may have either been neglected to much and that could have caused aggression and his behavior or something happened at the breeding. For her to give him away so quick is odd and $300 for a pure breed is CHEEP! But you can already tell that Buddy is back to himself. He is so much calmer, relaxed and back to being the great friendly dog he is! |
