How much is too much??? Hi all, how much is too much for a yorkie puppy? i have a 5 month old male yorkie that i got for $550 (the breeder sold him to me for that price inc shipping). i'm thinking about getting another one. however, this time i want to do it right. i want to make sure i get him from a reputable breeder, i'm not sure my past breeder was all that honest. i also want to get one where i can see the yorkie in person. i read that shipping puppies is not good. i also want to make sure the one i get is healthy and up to date on his shots, deworming and all that stuff. what's the most you've paid or are willing to pay for a yorkie? in addition, if any of you know of any good breeders in los angeles, ca. please refer me to them. thanks! |
well i know it varies by the area you are in... but i'd pay anywhere from $800-1200 dollars. Keep in mind females are usually more. |
yea, why are females so much more expensive. is it the fact that they can breed? |

yes females are charged more because they produce or can produce puppies imo i think males should be charged more because they can produce more but i always charge the same for my males and females i see no real reason to charge any difference |
The price you pay is very dependent on the region where you live.......California and the East Coast are more expensive. I know when I place my dogs, the females are not more expensive. They are priced the same since they go out on a spay/nueter contract anyway. Even my show dogs are priced the same, female or male. |
it may be partly just a supply/demand issue. one breeder told me that people people overwhelmingly ask her for more girls that boys. Most often b/c they can be dressed up, but also b/c some people think that girls can be more easily housetrained or are more affectionate (which we know isn't necessary true -- dogs have different personalities and out little boys can also be dressed to the nines!) |

Have you looked in the YTCA.org breeder contact list. Plenty of breeders in the L.A basin. |

I paid $2000 plus shipping for my champion sired, show potential female pup. And she's worth every cent in my humble opinion.:p |
I paid 900 It was nice cause it wasnt an overwhelming ammount (like i was finding in LA) but I knew he was a well bred dog without any health issues etc. on an Unemotional level i think sometimes paying more at first for a really healthy baby will help out more in the long run, that way you arent paying vet bill after vet bill for health problems that sometimes occur with bad breeding. on an Emotional level any puppy you want to take home and make yours whether its purebred, mixed, free or 1,000,000 dollars will be such a joy in your life :) I have already learned so much about love, myself and being a pet owner and any lil baby will be that for you :) |

where did you get your baby from? |
I flew from Vegas to Dallas to pick up my boy. He came from a great breeder and a long line of CH's and he was still cheaper than my girl, who I unknowingly bought from a local petstore (puppymill). I would have paid twice what I paid for Max just to meet his breeder :D |
Breeders.NET Cindy Landry Scruffy's Yorkies I don't know this lady but I lwas looking at her until I found my breeder. I think she's got a dog in the top 25. |
i paid $650 for my champion sired breeder pup 5 yrs ago. i would pay up to $1000. |
