Connie, You are a trip. I know Cindy. Nice lady....... How's the kids. Tell Max I got to groom his daddy Cash Mary |
Well, I look at it 2 ways..ours here run from $500 on up, but, with the economy like it is, and so many pups out there, I wouldn't pay over $500 for one now.. |

Sorry about the Breeders.net but I couldn't remember her name. She is a member of YTCA though :p I should have known you'd know her Mary! :D She's still showing, right? About Scruffy's Yorkies Aww you got to groom Cash? I'm so jealous! Did you take any pictures while you were there? |

No, I didn't take pictures....the 5 weeks went so fast. With training Easy for the ring, my Go-Go's 1/2 sister and showing both her and CJ in Houston and Dallas.....Grooming the This Time dogs......I didn't have too much free time. And besides, I forgot my camera. |
I've read females are more because there are more males born than females. Is that true? |
I don't think buying out of state is a bad thing!!! I live in Montana and it's very hard to find Yorkies here....So I have looked out of state. Good luck.. |
Even in my 3rd world country, and the currency, etc etc, I still paid $350 for Mocha. :D The "champion" lines are about $700-$1000, probably more. I don't know if this was the right thing to do or not, but in the beginning when I called up the breeder she put up $500 for Mocha. I came over to find meet the pups, and me and the breeder hit it so well she let Mocha go for $350 :) She said she put up more expensive prices to scare off people only interested in "owning" a dog, not LIVING with them. I don't know if it makes sense or not, but that's what happened. |
I think Yorkies must be much more expensive in the Northeastern part of the United States. When I was looking, earlier this year, the lowest price was $1,200, and this was not from championship lines. Championship lines was much, much, higher. My 12 year old cost $700. |
wow! 500 including shipping is almost scary Wow! I charge between $800- $1200 plus any shipping costs. I have only shipped one puppy by itself ever and that was recently. Contential did a wonderful job and so many breeder friends said they have never had any problem, so I thought I would try it. The puppy did great and the new owner was very very happy. |
$1,200 seems to be the lowest I've seen. I'm taking my time and looking around. I don't want to rush and just BUY a puppy. I'm going to do some research on the breeder and the puppy before I make up my mind. |
I paid $650 and drove 3 and 1/2 hours out of state for my Barney and he was well worth it! Came from a fellow YTer. Would do it again in a second to buy from this breeder! |
I paid about $500 for Wrigley. I personally wouldn't pay over around $700. I can't afford anything more than that. If I spent more than that I couldn't afford the care it deserves. So $500 was a good price for us. Now he is able to be spoiled :) |

I was told years ago when I was looking for my first show dog.....You find your breeder first. Remember when you're buying a puppy you are getting a relationship.....It's a two way street. I know with my contracts I offer life time grooming and free boarding. It's a way for me to see my pups on a regular basis. So, my puppy's new families know they have me 7x24 for the rest of their puppy's life. |

Buying out of state or out of the country for that matter is sometimes a necessity, but it's always best to do your homework. Find a reputable breeder first....then wait until the person you trust has the puppy you want. Yes it means you have to wait, but all the best things are worth waiting for. |
