New door 2 Attachment(s) We got this great new storm door today for the back door - it has a doggie door built in! Hopefully we can teach the pups to go through it. No luck so far :( http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?actio...484&lpage=none |
Great door. I hope the babies start using it soon. Take pics if they do, ;) . |
What a nice door!! Is that one of the pups?? They are getting soooo big... Any new pics of Bronx?? He always reminds me so much of Sammi :) XoXo Fran & Sam |
I like it, it's the perfect size! Let us know how they take to it! |
My cousin has a doggy door for her cat and 2 dogs. One time we were kicking back in her kitchen talking and one of her dogs came running in and scared Gus so badly. We all couldn't help but laugh. He even let out a yell like we do when we get scared. Poor little guy wanted nothing to do with that dang doggy door. He wouldn't even go near it. |

Oh he is too cute!! I cannot get over how much they look alike, coloring and all!! Will you be keeping all the pups?? |
I am working on keeping all of them. I just love them so much I can't part with them. They are 12 weeks old now. Hubby is coming around to the idea (he really loves them all, too). We love to sit outside with them in the evening and watch them play. Problem #1: They've started playing around 2 in the morning - that is a REAL problem, I have to sleep in the livingroom to make them settle down. Hopefully they will stop it quickly; this has been going on about 3 nights now. |
A friend got a doggie door for hers and they wouldn't go through either, so she taped up the flap and they started going in and out. After about a week she put the flap down and they didn't even notice. She has seven yorkies and like you there was aways one that stayed in or wanted in. Good luck |

Great door. I'm jealous. I'd love one of those but then again I would have to have a fenced in yard. Maybe someday. |
i had the same exact door for my dog named rommel... but he was a rottweiler....this is the way we got him to go through the doggie door. me or my ex would let him see us go through the door and he followed. well i went through the door,my ex didnt fit...after a few times, he did it all by himself. we had to clap and say yeah rommel good boy... after a month or so he we tear a-- through the house ,through the doggie dog to see who was outside..so funny,,, |
I love that door! It's funny because in the second picture, your pup is looking at the door like 'what is this?' Once they realize that the door is the way outside I think they'll be in and out without a problem! Good luck with the training! |
Once they realize what it gives them on the other side, they will be in and out all the time. |
I sure hope they hurry! Actually two of the babies, Trina and Cuatro, have it down. Zowie, the oldest, avoids the door like the plague. She wont even walk through if I hold the big door open. Bronx sits there and barks, the other three puppies just cry. I'm on the other side with treats. I throw Trina out and she jumps right back in, runs to me for lots of love (she's already had too many treats). |

That door is awesome! I wish I had one. |
What a great door. Do you have a regular door behind that too? I really need to get some kind of doggy door before winter. I have lived without one for a long time with my cocker and beagle. They could always hold it longer. Starsky is harder to train and I hate to keep him in his kennel all day now that my daughter has gone back to school. I usually come home for lunch to let him out, but there are days that I don't get a lunch and can't come home. I have let him out of his kennel longer and longer. He is doing pretty good so far. He actually used his pee pad the other day. Was the door expensive?? |

Hope you get them to use it. |
The door looks great i want to get one too for our new home. I do have one issue ... In our home now. There was a cat that was trying to get in our home. i mean it was sitting on our deck and actually tired to come in when I was letting out chester . I did not even noticed it until i saw it nose press up against the screen door. How do you prevent other animals from entering your home. In our new home we will be on a woodlot backing .. so just wondering |

Hers a link to one http://www.justliners.com/electroflapsdogs.htm |
Wow...great door. Thanks for sharing...I tried to click on your link and it wouldn't show me the door. I love it though and would like to get one. The puppies will learn... Use treats! That is what I did with Stomper. Have one person on both sides of the doors and hold the treat through the doggy door. Good luck! |

I would love a doggie door, but unfortunately we reside in a country setting with lots of large birds around. I have heard stories of birds carrying yorkies away. So I am definetly afraid to install one....good luck with your babies learning how to use it ...keep us updated on the progress. :) |
Once they get the hang of it you are going to love it! We recently put one in but we had to cut a hole through a wall. It was alot of work for my husband but even he'll admit it was worth it. The advice of taping the flap up is how I got my gang to go through. Also holding a treat outside and they have to go through the flaps to get to it. Good luck! :) jeanne |
Not far from us, I have heard of hawks grabbing chiuaua's around. That does scare me, too. I just never let the puppies outside by themselves. We also have a pool and a pond, and I am afraid of them falling in and drowning if no-one is aorund to help them out. It is also running about 100 degrees outside and I can't run the risk of them being forgotten outside. There is so much to worry about these babies. I also have stairs inside. Now I have just two that won't use the door, Zowie (mom) and Robyn. Hopefully in the next couple of days, they will take the plunge! |
