Rude Lady! So today I went to Petco to buy some Greenie Lil' Bits For Brianna, some Wee Wee pads and to take Gracie to get her nails trimmed. This lady that is sitting next to me tells me how cute Gracie is and we started talking. She told me that she had always wanted a Yorkie but that the reason why she owns a Shih-tzu is because Yorkies smell bad and that she can't have a smelly dog in her house!! I told her that of course if you don't bathe your dog that your dog is going to smell bad... and she said that bathing them did not help much cause she has a friend that owns a Yorkie and that even though she bathes him everyday that he is smelly .And she stood up and left. Can you believe her?   |
Her friend must not use a good shmapoo or conditioner on her yorkie because mine don't smell. |

Her friend must a flat out liar. Bathing the dog every day? Give me a break, I don't believe her or her friend. Something smells fishy with her story. |
That is the most stupid thing I've heard in awhile! I would have said "SMELL MY DOG, she doesn't stink!" |
Well i think her friend must be lying or not using anything when she bathes them (just water), or a low quality shampoo/conditioner. When i give charlie a bath I use a lilac smelling conditioner and he smells good for DAYS not just one but like 3. And after that he still doesn't smell bad, he just loses the lilac smell. |
haha okay i'll admit...Bentley does get stinky!!! but all you have to do is give him a bath!! then he smells good again!! |
Rude is not the first word to came mind ;) . That lady is so ignorant. My Yorkie has never smell and I bathed her once a week. I cant believe her friend bathe her Yorkie everyday. I agreed her story doesn't make any sense. I will say she is just jealous. |

None of my animals stink. I have 2 Schnauzers and 2 yorkies, they all gets baths once per week and they have never smelled. I don't know where she got this idea from, but I think she is wrong. |
My dh says Trace smells :( And I'll admit today he does cause he has dried beagle spit all over his head  So into the sink he's going. The good smell from shampoo doesn't last long because he usually gets in the pool to go swimming and that pretty much takes the scent with it. And I agree dogs that spend alot of time outside, do have that outdoor dog odor......pee ewww |
Hey, I just thought of something....like I always do....my SIL had a Shih-tzu and HE stunk sometimes too....so there, rude lady |

Me'll tell you sumfing, Toby bawks weally weally funny. When him bawks, I take off cause what in the heck is dat noise? Twace |
Seriously, who in the hell bathes their dog everyday? It is bad for their skin! The only thing I can think of is maybe her friend uses bad shampoo and has let her dog develop an untreated and smelly skin condition, More likely I think this lady was just a B&$*h and talking out her A%@$!!! My yorkie doesn't smell, half the time he smells better than the people around me in a public place. What a rude person you had to deal with! |
She must have stepped in the crap that is spewing from her friend's mouth... |
It probably is the dogs mouth and she just doesn't realize it. A friend of mine has a male and he is 8 yrs old. They didn't brush his teeth when he was little. They regret that but boy does he smell. |
I would rude is the nice way of putting it...where did the lady have anything to say...I would have told her that she is missing out on something great because I know that we bath our girls at least once a week and they don't smell at all!! |
Callie does not smell bad!! That's crazy. |
Actually it can be true. I've had a yorkie that was that way and it was because I got him at 4 years old out of a puppymill. The smell was in his pores and no matter how many time I wash him, he smelled. But after 3-6 months of good diet and living in a clean environment he didn't smell anymore. |
Geez. I really think yorkies are among the LEAST smelly of dogs.....I mean they don't shed, they are mostly indoors, etc....that lady was just plain crazy! |
That doesn't surprise me. You should have said, then why do you take a shower everyday if yuor going to have body odor any way. Thats such a dumb excuse. Anyways good thing she didn't get one because if she doesn't like to bathe them then she probably wouldn't give them all the additional care they need also. |
I am in shock! I don't know what I would have said to this lady but knowing my mouth it wouldn't have been very nice. Becides stinkie breath in the mornings, Gus always smells good. And when he starts getting a little stinkie, he gets a bath. I never hear of such a thing. |
What a hag! Some people are so flipping rude. |
Sometimes people could just keep their opinions to themselves. It was a silly and rude comment to make. She could have just settled with 'how cute'. I am surprised she even has a friend. |

But what a witch to walk up to someone and insult their breed. We're talking serious issues. |
It is entirely possible that the poor little thing has a skin condition, a dog with a yeast infection can stink to high heaven if not dealt with. I had a maltese that had terrible yeast infection which took years to clear up and trust me that little guy stunk. My vet recommended that I bath him every day but that was just a bit much to put the dog through. It is a shame however that this woman has no manners. |
stinky my a##e my rosie has mites in her hair folicles (she was born with the condition) and has to be washed in the most smellest stuff that makes your eyes water, once a week but smell bad I DONT THINK SO that woman was talking s##t wendy and rosie :rose: :yorkiesar |
I have never saw a smelly Yorkie  I have 2 & never smell :) |
