what kind of food do you give your yorkie? I'm looking to change brands and needing direction. Just wondering what everyone else buys. Thanks. |
ychicken soup for the puppy lover's soul - high quality food. |
I use Royal Canin # 33 for both my 9 month old Yorkie and my 7 year old Papillion. They both have sensitive stomachs and the Papillion had skin problems. Since being on the Royal Canin for a little over 3 months both issues with the dogs have disappeared. I fed Baron Royal Canin puppy # 27 until 3 weeks ago. He did great on it... Hope this helps. :aimeeyork Baron's Mom |
Layla gets home cooked for 95% of the time but when i have to use kibble right now i'm using Wellness but will be changing to Natural Balance whenever we need new kibble. |
We use Natural Balance Small Bites and then we also give them soft food that we get from our vet. |
I use wellness puppy for my puppy and wellness small breed for my 3 year old, I love it and it has a high rating on the dog food quality, if you look in the health and nutrition it has a list in there!! |
Wrigley gets Wellness Puppy |
I feed all mine Life's Abundance Health Food. Created by a Holistic Vet its a high quality Health food. |
My babies get Orijen adult formula dry kibble and Halo 100% Protein Treats. We have never had a problem :D |
Romeo eats Nutro natural choice. (only because the picky pain in the a$$ won't eat anything else) I am trying to switch him to Wellness. no luck. |
We love Natural Balance. My guys love sweet potato and fish but they also love those rolls that they make...they are kind of like a sausage. We give them as treats. We cut them up in small pieces and they make great training treats! |
Taste of the Wild Pacific Stream. |
I feed Duke Bil Jac Puppy, it's dry food and that's what his breeder fed him when he was baby. It's premium as well although I'm starting to see that not many people on here use Bil Jac. |
Brady gets "Blue" for small breeds. Its made of deboned chicken, whole grains, garden vegetables, and fruit. There philosophy is, "If it's not good enough for us, it's not good enough for our dogs". The website for the dog food has the following story of why they started the brand: Blue, Bill and Jackie's large breed Airedale, who is the inspiration for our company and one of the best pals who ever put on a collar. When Blue had his last bout with cancer, we did some research and found out that cancer is the number one cause of death for both dogs and cats. And while there's a lot of research going on relative to the causes, prevention and treatment of cancer, many veterinarians are beginning to link the increases in environmental toxins with the growing incidence of this disease. We hadn't thought much about toxins in the past, but when we looked into it a little further we found that they are virtually everywhere. Almost all of the household surface and rug cleaners have warnings on their labels; lawn and garden fertilizers and pesticides are toxic (just look at all of those little yellow signs) and the list goes on. This doesn't even include air pollution and the decline in water quality (which is why bottled water has become a multibillion-dollar business). All of these things have a big impact on dogs and cats because of their size and proximity to the toxins themselves. Once we had this information we decided to make a food that would include ingredients to nourish our companions along with ones that had been scientifically shown to provide an extra level of protection against environmental toxins. Our first step was meeting with leading experts in canine and feline nutrition. With them, we developed the BLUE™ Life Protection Formula dog food and BLUE™ Spa Select™ cat food. |
Most of ours get Natural Balance..but my smallest boy (Mojo) eats Honest Kitchen. |
I feed my baby Lotus Puppy for kibble and use Stella and Chewy's raw patties for another meal/snack. I'm probably changing his kibble to Wellness after the Lotus is finished off. |
I fed Bil-Jac to my two, although I also see its not popular here... mine came to me on it and like it soooo I just never switched. If anyone has a reason why they don't use it please tell me I'd love to know! |
Sadie gets Wellness for Puppies. She loves it and will continue to stay on it for his first year. Then we'll move up to another Wellness kind. |
I just started Epsilon on Innova Evo. I was feeding him Royal Canine Yorkshire Terrier, but I'm suspecting he's allergic to the corn and testing out how this grain free food works out. He skin is very dry and flaky and I'm hoping this solves the issue. |
Nature's Variety I feed my yorkie (Dax) and maltese (Darla) Natures Variety Raw food. It comes frozen in these little 1oz nuggets and they each get 2, 2 times per day. I have cooked for them in the past and fed dry (seems like I tried them all but their fav seemed to be the natural balance) and Dax has never eaten better. Darla would eat dirt, I think, she's happy with anything but Dax has a lot of stomach issues and allergies and this food is the greatest and easiest thing I have found. Dax would sometimes go for days without eating but now he gobbles it all up and licks his bowl each meal. I just take out what they will eat for the next day in the morning and let it thaw in the fridge. When its feeding time I just put it down....it's gone in a matter of seconds... I wash their little faces...... and feeding time is over. |
Wellness Puppy kibble. So far so good. |

The Dog Food Project - Ingredients to avoid I feed Orijen. I might change to Wellness canned when Mocha turns 1 year, or to raw instead. So far my dogs going great on Orijen. |
Tatum eats Innova and we've been very pleased with it. |
Harley was on Science Diet when I got her, and after doing some research (thanks to people on this board), I immediately switched her to Innova Puppy. When she finished that bag, I wanted to go grain-free, so I put her on Taste of the Wild, which she is on now. Her first bag was the prairie one I think, and I think this one is the one with the birds on it. (I have used the two flavors with the higher protein). I might try Orijen in the future. For snacks, she gets Innova Evo treats (they are in triangle, circle, and dog biscuit shapes) and Zukes mini-naturals (all 3 flavors). She's had no problems with any of the food/snacks I have given her. |
I switched mine to Chicken soup for the Dog Lovers Soul and took them grain free with their treats too. |
Toto gets Merrick both wet and dry food. |
Wellness puppy here. She likes it and it has helped out her poop too, not as much and not mushy. I even switched my cats to Wellness. |
I was feeding Canidae but have recently switched to Merrick. |
Sandy is extremely picky. The only canned she will touch is Nature's Recipe. Chicken, rice and Barley or the Vegetarian. She will eat the beef once in awhile... but she prefers not to. TJ will eat anything that holds still long enough. We do have to watch what he eats because of his sensitive tummy. He is outgrowing that (thank heavens). For dry, I have to mix it for them. I had Nature's valley and Wellness down, to see which they liked better. The bowls got dumped and mixed. Hubby picked the food back up off of the tray and put them in the same bowl. (He didn't know what I was experimenting with). So I put down another small bowl of each and they would not touch it. They only ate the one that was mixed. LOL |
From time to time, I have tried other high quality raw foods but Sandy just turns her nose up and walks away. She refuses to eat them. TJ enjoys them.. but she will not touch them. Any ideas? She can be so picky. I also tried the Chicken soup for the dog lovers soul.. TJ will eat it but not Sandy. . |
