OMG Tatum was just thrown up in the air!!! I am freaking out so bad right now! We are staying over at my moms because our AC went out AGAIN (we just went through this a few months ago ) and anyway as some of you know my mom has an in-home daycare although right now she only has one little girl who just turned a year old. Anyway, the baby's mom came over here to pick her up this afternoon and brought her 6 year old daughter with her. Well, my mom and the baby's mom and her 6 year old daughter were all in the living room (all of the Yorkies were in there as well) and I was in the kitchen getting a bottled water out of the fridge. I was in the kitchen for all of 2 seconds and I turned around to see the 6 year old THROWING Tatum up in the air like a ball!!!!! Thank GOD she caught her!!!! Before I could even say anything or go in there to get her, she threw Tatum on my mom's overstuffed chair that she has in the living room and Tatum was SO freaking scared that she flew up on my arm of the over stuffed chair and JUMPED OFF!!!! Tatum never ever (I mean NEVER) jumps on OR off of ANYTHING, so I know she only jumped because she was scared out of her MIND. My moms chair sits up pretty high too (well, high for Tatum) so I absolutely FREAKED OUT when I saw her do that!!!! She already has a high grade LP and is limping on her back left leg (although she has LP in both legs), I DO NOT need her limping on the right one. I ran up to her and took Tatum out of her arms and told her, "Sweetie, you can't do that...she is little!" OMG, I'm sorry...I LOVE kids to death but what is WRONG with some parents??? Can they not watch their children and teach them how to handle small animals???? Not to mention, these people have a Shih Tzu that isn't all THAT big (and a Mini Dachshund as well)...and I hate to think that she does these same things to her dogs :( This just has me SO upset. Tatum could have been VERY seriously hurt just from jumping off that chair alone (I can't even believe she did that, my eyes about bugged out of my head when I saw it!!!) not to mention - I don't even want to KNOW what might of happened had she not of caught Tatum when she threw her up in the air because she threw her up HIGH!!! Anyway, I just had to vent and I am so shaking right now. My poor little girl...she was scared to DEATH and her little heart was pounding so hard  I am just so thankful that everything is ok : ( |
I'm happy to hear she is ok! hugs you for tonight |
I have to say, i would have slapped the kid. Or Told off her parents until they Died off embarrasment.. I hate these kinds off people.. She obviously does this to her dogs or she wouldnt have done it to yours.. Some poeple make me soo angry |
OMGosh!!! Scary! Poor lil Tatum. I'm glad she's okay! |
OH BROOKE!!! I am furious FOR YOU!!! OMG, I would feel JUST as upset - and I don't know that I could've held my cool like you did! Thank god she was okay! WHAT on earth was that parent thinking????? I'm sorry, but what an IDIOT. No sensible parent would let a child throw a creature around. Would that parent let that child throw a BABY??? UHHHHHHH! Makes me ill. I'm so sorry this happened to you, I'm so mad I feel like it almost happened to me too - only bc I know how upset I'd be! So, vent away all you need to - bc you're in good company. Maybe you should say something add'l to that parent. Kisses to our dear Tatum! And HUGS to you too, my friend!! :) :) :) |
Oh Brooke, I would have been freaking out too! I see that all the time, kids that don't know how to approach or treat animals properly. I'm always worried about the animals getting hurt and/or the kids getting bitten! How did the Mother react? I hope little Tatum is ok!! :) |
I would be so scare and freak out to, poor Tatum so glad she is ok too, but what is wrong with people:mad:why they don't teach kids how to handle animals period:animal-pa |
You are very kind, and nice and collected, I'm not, that spoiled little brat will have been the one thrown in the air,no, not really, but a 6 years old is old enough to know not to do that. Did her mom say something??? |
Omg:eek: I hope Tatum is doing ok. I would have freaked out as well. I can't believe some people. |
I would've snapped if I saw that! I'm glad Tatum is o.k though. |
I'm not as kind as you are, honestly don't know how you managed to keep your cool. Personally, I don't know why parents would think it was acceptable for their children to pick up another persons pet. I'm so thankful little Tate is okay, I know it would have scared me to death to begin with and then I'd be mad as ****. |
Poor little yorkie! I am glad your little yorkie is okay! You are a very patient person to address that child the way you did. I KNOW I would have snapped quickly and would want to jerk a knot in that child's tail! I mean really one must wonder why does the parent not teach the child to behave in someone else's home and even more to treat animals with respect. You are right, yorkies are small dogs and since getting my first yorkie almost six months ago I am learning more each day that they really cannot be treated in many ways like other dogs are treated. I tried to let mine outside the other day and it was a typical cool fall morning but she would not go out at all, neither would my daughters little yorkie who is two weeks younger. It was cool to me but cold to them. I got to thinking about it and realized they are really not like other dogs, they are so much smaller and will feel more the cold wheather. I am sure they will not want to go out at all this winter. Sometimes the wheather here in the northern Virginia area can be really bad in the late fall and winter. I think I am going to buy more piddle pads and hope for the best! Take good care of your baby, I am glad he/or she seems okay from the throwing fiasco.:) |
Poor Tatum. She must have terrified. I'll never understand people who don't teach their children how to handle animals - of any size - and what can happen if they are mishandled. I'm so glad she wasn't hurt. |
Poor little Tatum, to be so caught off guard like that :( I can't stand those parents who don't teach their children proper manners  Not only towards animals, but also towards other people and their property. Some kids are just out of control (ie. my parents' friends have kids who leave a path of destruction wherever they go...and one of them is 15!). Makes you just want to discipline their kids since they won't do it themselves :thumbdown |

Oh my what a horrible experience for both of you. Little Tatum must have been just terrified and I know you were. I think I would have been able to be kind to the child like you were, but my heart would have been pounding! I agree with other posters, why don't parents watch their own children when there are animals close by. That little girl should have know not to throw a dog up in the air. Her mother has done her a huge disservice by not teaching her properly because iI imagine there are many other things she is not taking the time to train her about. That is so sad. I'm glad little Tatum is OK. Give her lots of snuggles from us. |
  That little BRAT!!!!!!!:thumbdown You're a better person that I am, I would have been screaming my head off at that child and her parent! OMG thank GOD that Tate is okay, I got sick to my stomach when I saw the title of this post:cry: |
That is why kids gets bitten by small dogs!!!!!!!!! |
Poor little Tatum!:(:(:( She must of been so scared, poor thing. I am glad to hear she is not hurt! I really dont understand why parents dont teach their kids how to behave near animals. That would be my first thing to teach a child. :( |
Well, I think a child that age should indeed no better! My daughter was not even five when we got Baxter (our chi) and she knew better; and still knows better with my Bailey! I don't know what was going on but that is a shame! It is just a good thing that your baby didn't get hurt in the long run! |
OMG!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: I am so sorry it happend to my little Tate Tate!!!! Gosh, what is wrong with kids and what is wrong with their parents? I don't know if i ever want skin kids... |
OMG im glad to hear Tatum is okay. i agree with you, some parents don't know how to raise their children right. Her mom should have said something and if they already have dogs the little girl should know better to be calm with a little dog. Poor Tatum |
 You are a waayyyy better person than I. I am so thankful that little Tatum isn't injured. Please give her extra hugs and kisses for Toto and me! |
OMG! I am so glad that little Tatum is okay! People should really be responsible for their kids! I bet poor little Tatum was absolutely scared out of her wits! |
Brooke, you are so nice, I don't think I could have been as patient and kind to that horrible child!! I would have snapped and probably spanked that child right in front of her Mom!! I am so sorry Tatum was so scared! This is why small dogs end up fearing and nipping children. Parents do not teach their children how to behave around dogs. |
First let me say that im so glad your baby didn't get hurt. Please, dont blame the child, blame the parent. A child will do what he/she is allowed to do by the parent. So, no doubt, she has done this before, probaby with her own dogs, and was not corrected. I have 4 grandchildren that are around my yorkies all the time. The oldest being 8 and the youngest being 4. They play with my babies all the time and they know how to play with them, even the 4 yr old. They never ever pick one of my babies up. They are taught better. I just wish everyone would teach their kids how to treat any animals. Animals also will do what they are allowed to do by their owners. Just like kids will do what they are allowed to do by their parents. So please, dont blame the child, blame the parent. If that happened to me, i think i would tell the parent exactly what i thought! Jesus said..."Suffer the little children to come unto me for of such is the kingdom of heaven".:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |

Im furious that the mother of that child said nothing!! That is just so disrespectful at least she could of apologized!! You handled it very well by telling the child that what she did was wrong. I however would of definitly said something to the parent. Im glad that little Tatum is ok. How scary for you and the dog. |
((((BROOKE)))) I'm so glad Tatum is ok! |
I can't believe the Mom didn't say anything the FIRST time she threw Tatum!! On second thought, no I am not. A little girl walked up to Max in a pet store and just popped him on the nose. He growled and snipped at her and - of course - she screamed. The mom grabbed her hand and said 'YOU need to control your dog'. Before I could say anything, my 9 year old niece said 'she hit him on his nose and noses are sensitive for dogs'. I'm glad Tatum is OK and hope no damage to her knees from that jump! I feel sorry for the little dogs in that house. No telling what they go through... |
Poor little Tatum! I'm so sorry that happened, I don't know what I would have done! I hope Tatum can forget all about that trauma! |
