:) Maximus follows me everywhere too! I luv it. He stakes out the bathroom when I'm in there. It's the funniest thing. Just laying outside the door waiting for me...lol. I wouldn't want it any other way. |
My 4 also follow me all over the place. When my parents come over my Dad calls me the pied piper while laughing at me for the way they all move in unison just to follow me. But I do not mind it at all, I just feel more loved by them. |
I'm sorry to break it to ya, but I don't think so. LOL. At least my babies haven't stopped following me  They do just as yours does and will get up from a dead sleep to follow me out of a room. Little stinkers! They are my 24/7 shadows and I mean it. Let me just say - I cannot even pee in private anymore  I have an audience everywhere I go :p |
It's the pack mentality plain and simple. A dog that does not follow the pack will be left vunerable to attack, they are making sure to stay safe and secure with the pack. Also the pack provides basic needs of food and safety. Aren't we lucky to have such cute pack members!! :aimeeyork:animal-pa |
ALL my dogs follow me everywhere. Even if I just go to the bathroom. I open the door and they are all there waiting. I call them my Disciples.LOL:p |
Hi Everyone! Spunky and I are new here and this thread caught my eye and made me laugh. Spunky has been my little shadow for 8 years and she has always followed me wherever I go. If I leave the house without her and my husband is home, she'll wait by the door whining for me! She doesn't even eat or drink until I get home too. When I walk in the door she's right there jumping up and down about 4' in the air until I acknowlege her by picking her up and giving her kisses. She's soooo spoiled but I just love my little fur baby, she's my only daughter!! :aimeeyork |
I have a maltese and a yorkie. Krissie Bella (my sweet Yorkie) wants to sit in my lap ALL the time. Normally, Ollie will join her. She is just 4 lbs and Ollie is much bigger at 7 lbs. She can jump on our beds, couches, everything. Ollie still can't. It just goes to show "White dogs Can't Jump!!" Getting back to your question, I can't answer the phone most times, because I am covered in pooches!!:) |
Both my girls follow me... Poor little Tootsie if she can't see me and if she's in the recliner with my hubby she gets frantic and actually throws her 3 pd-6 month little head towards the ceiling and howls in her tiny voice for all she is worth. I never had a dog ever love me like my 2 yorkies, Samantha my oldest furbaby would get in shower if I would let her. Lol I'm afraid love and closeness goes hand in paw with yorkies...... lol:animal-pa:animal36:D |
Sometimes I feel I should have named her Shadow or my buddy because she goes everywhere I go. She even jumped in the shower with me twice, lol now she just sit by the tub and watch my every move as if I'm going to disappear from her sight....Yorkies are just so adorable. |
Twinkle doesn't follow me but she does follow my one-year old daughter EVERYWHERE. She lies beside while she's playing with her toys and lays under her high chair while she's eating (although I think thats because she's hoping to catch any dropped food) and Lucia sits beside Twinkle while she's eating (and splashes about in her water bowl!) Twinkle sits and whines by at the bottom of the stairs when I put Lucia up for her nap, I have to entice her away with treats or toys. She definitely loves us all, but has a special place in her heart for the baby :Dxxx xxx |
Lucy is just a strange little thing and sometimes she is miss independent and lounges in our bed for most of the day and then other times she is right there under your feet. She usually chooses to be a shadow at the most inconvenient times...If I leave the bathroom door open she will come in and sit on the rug and just stare up at me. Lucy much prefers men for some reason, I think she wants to be alpha female. Ella on the other hand is my biggest fan. I can't wait for her to get a little bigger though because I have to watch my every move. If I put her in her pen so I can actually accomplish something, she does her let me out dance most of the time. Other times she will fall asleep and look super cute and the minute I stand so I can take a pic, she is wide awake doing her dance again. If someone else is holding her she cranes her neck to make sure she can still see me. Or she will squirm and wriggle around for everyone else and the minute I hold her she falls asleep. Total mama's baby. |
Jamie would love to follow me everywhere. However, we did work on stay. Like he knows that he's not allowed in the kitchen when I'm cooking. I don't want him to get burned or hurt if I spill or drop something. And actually he would rather stand outside the bathroom door and guard it, but thats probably because he's afraid I'll give him a bath. |

I agree, don't worry about your little furbaby following you around cause he will. When my baby was little he was pen and crate trained. When he was out I watched his every move or he was on my lap. So once your baby is trained he can have alot more freedom. Trust me babies will get into anything and everything, which can be very dangerous. Good Luck! ;) |
Ozzie is 11 -- and still very much my little shadow.:) He doesn't get up EVERY time I leave the room anymore. He's down to about 6 or 7 of 10. |
I've had several different breeds of dogs throughout my lifetime, and I've got to tell you that I was totally SHOCKED when I bought my Yorkie, Sadie. I've never, ever had a dog that wanted to be attached to my side 24/7 until I brought her home. At first, it was a little disconcerting - but after 2 and a half years, I can't imagine it being any other way!!!! She's my little shadow and just loves to be with me constantly. Believe me, you WILL get used to it and come to love it. :p:p P.S. When she's not following my every footstep, I know she's "up to something" - LOL!! |
I LOVE when Alfie follows me around! It's cute! He's my little shadow. My roommate has a 2 year old pom and he's the same way with her! They definitely know who their mamas are! When one of us goes into the kitchen though, both doggies are following whoever is there :) |
I know what you mean. My Pebbles follows me everywhere. The only time she doesn't is if the cat happens by or if she is busy playing with my other dog. I love the fact that she follows me, it makes me feel loved... but I do cherish those short little breaks as well for I have two children that stay close by as well. So a minute of "me, alone time" is rare. |
Not only do they follow me everyplace but the other day I was in the bathroom and Max ( I got away without them knowing:D) came running into the bathroom at full speed up on to my lap!! You just can't get away:sidesplt::embar: |

Boyfriend thinks he can get my boys to stay with him when I walk away...has not happened yet. (he has to shut them in the room with him to do that - if he does that and then lets them out, they race to me, jump on my lap and look at him accusingly as if to say "how dare you keep us away from our mommy?" LOL) If he gets home before me they will greet him and then ignore him and wait by the door for me to pull up. He said they will sit in front of the glass door looking out for 2 hours sometimes... straight! LOL I think boyfriend is jealous of how much they love me and how little they love him! haha |
I had Spitz dogs and Shihtzu once upon a time ago and they never follow me around the house the way my Yorkie does. Pao acts more like a personal bodyguard. Even when he is playing he has to know where I am all the time. Very cute and loyal. |
