megansmomma | 09-18-2008 07:17 PM | Hello! I am finally settled down from my little adventure today to pick up Desmond. He is adorable beyond words. This adoption was in the works since J&J posted it at the end of last week. I called but was told he already had 5 applications so I figured that he would be adopted out to a good family. Well to make a long story short, things didn't quite work and I got the call this morning that I could come and take a look at him. I figured that I could just jump into my car and take the hour ride over to IN and meet him. With all of the rain that we have had it actually turned into 3 1/2 hours:eek: But he is well worth it!
I got to meet J&J sister who was wonderful and ran the most well kept shelter that I have even been inside!
I took one look at this sweet boy and new he was coming home with me! He looked like a pitiful little orphan, all matted but very excited. We believe he might have an issue with his legs (luxating patella maybe) but I will cross that bridge when we see the vet.
Jane was a fantastic and very kind person that I could tell genuinely cared for all of these animals! There should be more people like her and this world would be a better place.
One my way home, I stopped at Petco in Merriville IN to pick up a bag of dog food. Desmonds nails were so long and curled that I decided to see if they could give him a quick nail trim. Not only did the trim him nails but Dee clipped a few mats off his hind legs. As I was going back to pick up the food, I was stopped by a nice woman that told me what a beautiful dog I had and I told her the story of how I got him. She then said she worked in the grooming department and asked his she could "clean him up a little". I was shocked that she offered this to me and she started to CRY and said that it was wonderful that I took in a rescue. Then I started to CRY and now we are both bawling out eyes out in the middle of the store. She trimmed him a little more around the face and cat a bunch of mats off his legs and tied a bandana around his neck. She handed him back to me and gave me a hug! It was soooooooo sweet!
So we got home and everyone is getting along very nicely! Doodlebug LOVES his new brother and Pebbles~lets just say she is being Pebbles!
Right now he is laying on my lap sleeping. I think this is going to work out pretty well!
Thank you again J & J and WisIndygirl you are both the best!:) |
