Maybe an obedience class and lot's and lot's of practice being good and learning manners around other dogs. Lot's of praise for good behavior...

Sorry you got bit.

I'm confused? How old is you Nemo and was he off leash at the dog park? Are you OK after being bite by the GS? I think you need to stay out of the dog park and do some socialization in a class with your little guy before exposing him to all the stimulation of a dog park.

Good advice. A park can be overwhelming to any dog regardless of size. I think it is only natural for a dog to bark, seeing as it is the way a dog communicates. My question is, why was this shepard able to bite you? Off leash I am guessing? hmmmm....so was your dog barking in defense or was the barking what stirred the GS to bite you? Yeah...I think I am confused as well! If the barking is a problem then the recommendation of a class as stated above would be ideal.

I kinda know what you are going thru... Gremlin loves to go to the dog park and play fetch with HIS tennis ball. I say it like that bc we always bring HIS and he always makes sure he gets HIS. This guy bought a very large looked like a doberman mix to the park that had a shock collar on... which kinda made me nervous that this large dog had a shock collar on and yet he let her loose. Well the doberman took grem's ball. and grem dealt with it for a min... mostly just whined to me. i took it away from the dog (the owner did nothing) and threw it for grem again. well the big dog took it from grem and grem tried to take it back and the big dog growled at him and grem growled back. He is very territoral about his ball. Well at this point im freaking out and runnin that way bc this dog could eat grem in a sec. The other dogs owner does nothing. So i had to seperate them and thought i was going to get bit myself. I didnt thank goodness. I hope your bite is ok. But i suggest some small group socializing with bigger dogs first maybe even in their territory bc sometimes gremlin thinks the park is his and gets a bit mean. Grem's fur-brother is a daushaund (which isnt big but bigger then gremlin) And he does alot better with larger dogs. As long as they dont come between him and his tennis ball. Sorry i was kinda-long winded on that....

sorry to hear about the german shepherd accident! if this is something that just started happening, please have him checked out by a vet. Often times this is the dog acting out in aggression suddenly because hes in pain. I hardly doubt behaviour problems can arise overnight...maybe you missed the signs beforehand?

its not natural the way he bark
his tail is up , and at time he try to attk the big dog
he get along fine with small or mid size dog
just the big one , he will run up and start to bark
there are time i had to run 1/2 way across the park to get him
cuz while he's barking the big dog run away
and yes that's a off leash park ,
and the reason the shepard was able to bite me cuz
as soon as he bark , the shepard bark back ,
so i stand in between them 2
and pick up Neo , and the shepard bite me on my back
most dogs/people at the park call him the lil bully
cuz they know he bark and most big dog i know there
werent do anything but walk away from him
but this shepard /person
i'd never seen before
and the owner of the shepard call him off
other wise he was still pulling on my shirt

He needs to be checked by a vet since the agression just started recently. Someone else on here had a yorkie that out of the blue became agressive and she ended up having a brain tumor. Dont want to scare you but thought you should know

Please keep him away because if a big dog attacks this little fellow doesn't stand a chance.

I would never bring my Yorkies to a park where there are big dogs off the leash let a lone a German Shepard. Some dogs are just more barkers than others...he should be taught to obey you when you try to quite him but he will probably never not bark at all when he sees other dogs. I am always careful to be sure ALL OTHER dogs are on leashes when I am around with my furkids. It just doesn't make sense to me not to...one blink of the eye and your dog could be history. Besides those dog parks breed deceases that are easily picked up by dogs. I like to have my dogs socialized with dogs I "know" are safe and healthy.

I don't take my pup to the park often because of the other dogs. I always keep my pup on a leash and pay close ateention to other dogs in th epark. My dog will "hide" when a dog his size apporaches but bark at a larger dog. It makes me nervous. I arrange playdates with his yorkie cousin. I suggest leaving that park alone and let him play with safer pups.

You should not be taking your dog to a dog park. He is not showing stable temperment, and this is putting him, you, and others in jeapordy. Because this "aggressive" behavior, by your account, has just started suddenly, he needs to be fully screened by a vet.

Once the vet has ruled out medical conditions, I would have a dog behaviorist (NOT a dog trainer!) observe and evaluate him to see what is going on and what should and can be done to modify and correct the problem.

Dog parks should be off limits. His behavior can lead to a serious dog fight, in which he, you, and multiple other dogs and people can be severely injured and even killed. This can be very serious.
