Does Anyone Have This Problem? My two girls will not,and I mean will not go outside in the rain! It's been raining for two days:eek: It's been raining outside and puddling up inside!! Help! Were drowning in pee!:( Does anyone else have this problem? Thank Goodness for hardwood floors!!!!!:) |
I do! At least my mom does. Her schnauzer hates getting his feet wet and refuses to go out when it's raining or has just rained. You could try rain coats, umbrellas, booties or training pads. Sometimes you just have to clean up the mess. Thankfully it doesn't rain where we live that much and she has no carpet in her house. |
mine are like that too. thank goodness they will use the pee pads! its been raining here off and on almost a week now!! |
We have the same problem I just went and bought pee pads, something I have never had to do. |

Yes, we have the same problem with Romie, especially with all these hurricanes since moving to Southwest Louisiana in June. We have been doing like many others and using the pads. |
Yeah mine wont set foot out in the rain so I had to put a fake plant near the door outside and he'll go out juuuuuust that far to piddle..lol...it's nuts but it works. |

It's always easier for the boys it's not fair!:p Us girls always have to be soo difficult lol... |
Ha Ha Ha...I thought I was the only one..;)...I have 3 toy breeds and one large breed...and the toys will NOT set foot out side if its raining,,but my golden retreiver dont mind all all.. |
I've never tried taking Meeko out when it's raining but, he doesn't mind going outside after it's just rained. It actually like to run through the puddles:). Lucky me lol |
Mine hate the rain too. They go both outside and inside on pee pads too. It took longer to train them for both, but we get an awful lot of rain in England, so it's worthwhile. Hugs Shirl x x:animal36 |
I have the same problem!! I have just let Pita go on newspaper inside. I really hope it doesn't mess up her training!! |
I have to fight with both dogs to get them outside in the rain. I figure If I have to go out with them at least they can come without too much of a fight LOL. They have rain coats but I think that makes it worse with the sound of the rain on it. At least Baxter is so light that he isn't too much of a problem, I just carry him, but Zeke at 20 lbs is a different story. He will hold it for a day if he thinks he can avoid the rain. But yet they both LOVE the snow. :animal36 |
Add My Guy Johnny doesn't like to go out when it's raining either. If I put him out, he runs back to the door so I put on my rain gear and take him out on a leash and put him in the grass but he immediately runs back to the door so I keep the leash tight. I'm thinking of putting some kind of awning or canopy for him to go under. He likes his baths. |
Thanks everyone! I have a large overhang off my garage.I showed them that there is no rain there but it still doesn't work. When I put them out they just sit at the back door where it is raining, and cry to come in! Don't figure. I guess I'm gonna try newspaper or pee pads and see how that work. I'm just afraid that their gonna think it's okay to potty inside all the time. My 10month old loves the snow couldn't get enough of it, hopefully my 6month old will be the same way. Thanks for all the ideas! Guess what it's not raining now hehe... time to go potty! |
Yes, we do have that problem. However, we don't have a fenced yard, and we just send Sophie out the back door (slider onto the deck and to grass beyond) with an extension leash. If it is raining, we have to walk her out, but since she is on a leash, she doesn't have much choice. Sometimes she just goes around the corner and under the eaves. :D She will potty this way, but we often have a problem with the poop issue since she needs time to do the sniffing and finding a place thing. |
I have the same problem! Lily saw it was raining outside here the other day at the door, turned around, and squatted right at the threshhold of the door. Lovely. |
I say NO, NO, NO to Outside! Quote:

I am wondering if you can pee pad train in the garage where it is warmer and doesn't rain. Mine is out door trained but i am thinking of trying pads in the gargage when it gets colder. Then, maybe they wouldn't associate it with the inside of your house. Has anyone ever done this???? |
My dog doesn't like the rain or all that nasty snow we get here. She is 15 mos. She is trained for outside and will use the wee wee pads also. Needless to say she's been using them off and on lately. They are a life saver to me. :) Good luck! |
Yes I have the same problem. there's a lake of pee in the laundry room when it rains. I'm constantly mopping with bleach water. I've thought of putting a table out there that they could go under but I doubt that they would walk that far. Even if it's done raining and still wet out, they won't go out. |
Gizzie does the same thing:rolleyes: |
We too have this problem with Zoe...Brady could care less and Peppee...he is iffy...I usually take them out under the boy's trampoline...usually works for the most part. |
Suzi has never seen the rain.. Not yet ! She loves water though, and does not mind getting her paws wet. I bought her A rain jacket, but it is way too big ! She will get a new rain coat, because I am afraide she will catch A chill . It will be an entirely new experience for her. :aimeeyork |
 going thru the same thing here with my 2 girls we have had rain 3 days non stop , and they will not go outside, even tryed the garage and no go :( peepads they just stand there and look at me , so yeah lots of accidents here to :( |
Phoebe doesn't like the rain either but she's picky on sunny days too. We can have her outside for awhile and she'll still come in and pee/poop inside. She's 6 months old now and there is still no rhyme or reason to it that I can figure out anyway. I wish it was just on rainy days :( |
Jolliver doesn't like the rain either, i have to carry the umbrella out and then he only does his business on the sidewalk instead of the grass. i don't get to upset about the sidewalk business because its raining and it'll wash away |
Oh Maxi wont go outside if it is raining. As soon as I open the door and he is about to run out on the leash, he sees the rain and turns back. I tell him to pee quick and he does and we go inside. He has the rain coat on him yet still hates the rain. We go outside after the rain. I would suggest wee wee pads in your garage. That way they know they can go only there if it rains. Stay in the garage the whole time until they will pee on the pad. Sometimes you have to point where to go. Once they pee give them treats. ;) |
None of my three will go out in the rain - I have even went so far as to put on my Clogs and take an umbrella out. That works with my bichon. My poodle will hold it for hours before he will go out and Katy uses her pads all the time anyway. |
Besides having Fiona, I have 2 dachshunds (whom live with my parents) the would not go out in the rain or snow- I had to train them to go out to pee in the rain and snow by saying "quickly, quickly" and they will go real fast, and then come inside! Thank god that Fiona is not like that- she loves the rain, mud, puddles, and the funny thing is, as soon as you put her in the tub, she starts whining! go figure! :p |
