Where did you get your Yorkie? I had the hardest time finding breeders in my area, so I ended up getting my dogs shipped to me :( For when I am able to get my next dog, where would I be able to find a good Yorkie breeder? Possibly any in MA? Thanks! :animal-pa |
When I was searching I tried breeders.net. I also checked all my local papers and the ones in less than a 3 hour radius. Most you can read online. I found my breeder on kijiji. Which is kinda risky, lots of people try and scam through there. But I was able to call her at home and at work and go to her home. |
I would not recommend the breeder I got Tootie from, BUT... Hope came from the best breeder ever!! Linda, YT member "lksdolls". She is in Ohio and she is wonderful! Her "pack" is pretty impressive too... I fell in love with Hope from the first day I heard the story of the "miracle babies" It took me several months to make it happen but I flew to Pittsburg and Linda met me there with my precious little girl! her website is garlinyorkies.info we love Momma Linda! d |
Did you try local newspaper? I found Chloe in my local newspaper. I prefer to socialize with the dog before I bring them home. Also, that way I will get to know the seller/breeder also...... |
I got mine from reputable YTCA members and exhibitors. I would check out the breeders on the YTCA site. |
I got mine from the Breeder .... I would never buy one from a Puppystore .... :( |
I got mine from a GREAT breeder in Miami florida. But my old house burned down and all his paperwork went with it. I have been trying to find that breeder on line for months and I just cant remember the name of it. But Milo is a perfect baby I would get the girl I want from that breeder if I could find her. Plus I want to see if she has any of his paperwork still so I can get it again. |
Internet? When I purchased my first Yorkie, Artie I was so impatient and had to have a Yorkie within 2 days. We were living in Boston at the time and I could'nt find any Breeders at all! I should have waited and researched it more, I was so IGNORANT and had no previous experience w/Yorkies and all the "SCAMS" on the Internet. I call it the "Bait and Switch", when you see a website w/pictures and all, then purchase a Yorkie Puppy thinking that you are getting that one and it ends up being a totally different Yorkie. Or the Breeder says the puppy is older than it really is, but it is younger and appears to be small or a "Teacup", but then you get the puppy's papers and find out his real age? That has been my past experience, so after my first one and 2 yrs. later of studying and learning from YT. My 2nd one came from a Local Breeder, and my 3rd one was free, since I bred her from the first 2. |
Here's a link to the one that I'll be getting soon. Neither of us wanted a puppy since it's been years that we've had one. He's 9 months. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...to/Lucca21.jpg |
I got Romeo in RI. From a breeder, and I couldn't be happier. |

When I got mine, I was also very impatient. I had researched Yorkies and knew what I wanted but didn't want to pay a fortune either. I also didn't want to buy from a pet store. I wanted to see both parents at the time I saw the puppy as well. I am sure that many would say I was wrong, but we found ours in the local paper. We bought her from a couple who had both parents as their much loved pets. We went into their home and watched all of them play together. The parents were beautiful and very healthy and happy. So we took her home right then and there. She was about 11 weeks old. No regrets!!!! |

i found mine in the local paper and went to the breeders home in pa.. and came home with 2 sisters 3 years ago...it was a good breeder.. mcdowells. but the 6-9 month old show breeder dogs would be my first choice now...:) although a 3 month old from a show breeder would be second choice:) |
I got mine from a local breeder (husband works with two so I lucked up) |
I had the same problem. I called all the YTCA breeders in NY (none of which were even in my area code so that meant driving 3 hours or more one way) no one had any pups at that time or they didn't have what I was looking for. I wanted a female. Anyways, I checked out newspaper ads but was never impressed with what I saw and finally I too chose to have Zoe shipped to me. I did find her from a breeder here on YT and she is champion sired and I am so pleased with her, she's just the perfect girl for us. |
i bought willow from Puppy Petite NYC Quality Puppies For Sale they are in brooklyn, ny. didn't love the people who worked there or the environment they were in, but i fell in love with her and the rest is history! |
YTCA breeder referrals in MA [QUOTE=starbabe0182;2237705]Here is the list of YTCA Breeder referrals in MA: P = Puppies A = Adults S = Stud Service R = Rescue MASSACHUSETTS HiHopes Cheryl Kroll Southbridge, MA 01550-3608 (508) 765-1375 HiHopesyrk@verizon.net P A S I would NOT recommend Cheryl Kroll - even though she may still be a YTCA listed breeder. I bought from her a puppy in the summer of 2009. The puppy was diagnosed, after an MRI and a Spinal Tap, with GME, a congenital disease, in the spring of 2010. This means the breeder has the disease in her blood line. The puppy was immediately started on a therapy of Prednisone and Leflunomide. Unfortunately the puppy never went into remission and died witin 8 weeks of the diagnosis. As a breeder for more than 15 years, Cheryl Kroll stated to me she never heard of the disease, was adamantly unresponsive about my request to share medical expenses and unwilling to refund the purchase cost of the puppy. |
I got mine from a breeder in central florida. She was the coworker of my ex's parents and his parents have her brother. Looking back on it, I should've done a TON more research, asked more questions, etc. but I now know the RIGHT things to do. Lol. :) At least she did come with her papers and a health guarantee. You also might check into local rescues, as I think there's a Yorkie rescue here in florida. :) They might have a wonderful doggie looking for a forever home. ^_^ |
Contact the AKC for a list of registered breeders in your area and then use that list to check on hre and see if anyone has gotten a puppy or dog from those people...its actually a pretty small world you might be surprised how many people on here have gotten their dogs from the same kennels...plus when you use the AKC's registered breeders and kennels you are getting some sort of verification and they send you out information on what to ask a breeder and look for...like their Department of Health inspections reports, lists of any violations with local animal control, a genetic history of your dog's line etc... |
Good Luck! I lucked out , and found out that my old neighbor was a breeder....Fiona was the only puppy that survived Abby's first liter, and since then she had 2 more, but they are both fixed now, so no more puppies... =( she is a great breeder, shots and everything were up to date, and she was crate trained before I even got her! Fiona has been so perfect! |
My husband and I are proud to say we bought our yorkie Kinder from Deb Sillers at amazingyorkies.com We drove to Fairfax,Missouri to pick her up. We talked to Deb for a few months and then picked our yorkie up. She is a YT featured breeder and a very honest lady to buy a yorkie from. Our last baby had some genetic problems so we wanted someone reputable. We are very happy and it was a well worth trip and best of all getting to meet Deb in person. |
