wow I wonder LOL it is so funny that you brought up whether or not dogs can see color, that is something I always think about! I wonder how my Faith percieves me and her environment all the time. I learned so much about related topics in college but my professors never answered this one! Us humans see color by light relecting off the objects and it is all about wavelengths and our cones in our eye . Does this happen for yorkies at all? Does their eye have cones?! Sometimes, I swear that Faith knows what is what and exactly what is going on. People need to give the little loves more credit lol. But really, if anyone knows the answer, let me know! Christine |
Even though dogs cannot see in color, they SMELL like we SEE. When we see something, we know what it is, what kind it is and how long it's been there. When dogs smell something, they know what it is, what kind it is and how long IT has been there ;) They can smell so much better than us it's crazy. |
http://www.coolquiz.com/trivia/explain/docs/dogs.asp Here is a link that explains how dogs can see. I just typed the question into google and it popped up a bunch of websites that answer the question. I love that feature of google, you type in any question and it finds the answer for you!!! |

Oh, and you were beat to it this time by Annadoodle. That's so funny you both posted the same link! It's a good one though! |
hmm thanks! thanks! I never realized how amazing they smell lol. i'm going to go check out that site now too! |
colors I guess it depends on what reseachers you read. I have read a few sites that dogs can distinguish yellow from blue, but not red from green. They see yellow and blue to some degree. I read taht years ago and buy more yellow and blue toys for them when I can. They have two receptor molecules in their eyes (humans have 3) to tell greenish blue from yellow. They do have better night vision and great sensitivity to movement. |

This green mud mask thing gave me a great idea. For Halloween, I could be the Wicked Witch of the West, and Otis could be a Winged Monkey from Wizard of Oz. |

I Think Baxter Does The other night I took Baxter and Chloe's beds out of their cages to wash them. Chloe's is pink and Baxter's is blue. I replaced them with 2 blue towels until the laundry was finished. Baxter went to lay down and hesitated for a minute and went into Chloe's cage (which he never does). Maybe they don't see in full color, but the fact that both of those cages were blue, they were in their same spots, and Baxter knows which one is his-the color confused him. |
red flag As to a bull and a red flag...you could try waving a green flag in front of one and see if he reacts..an experiment I would not try myself..LOL |
