New to Forum =) - Looked over FAQ's Hi there everyone... Im new to the forums and just wanted to put in a formal Hello. My girlfriend has been wanting a dog for a long while now. I myself am not a dog or cat person.... but after the constant pictures of different breeds, I do believe she has me on these cute little Yorkies - she definatly wants a YT. Like anything, I like to do a little research before buying anything - especially a living creature. So while im sitting here at work, ive been reading through the old posts here on the forums and the FAQ's =) I do have a somewhat simple question about pricing of Yorkies - I do understand that prices will vary due to many variables, but can anyone give their opinion on the low to high prices that one can expect? The highest I have seen so far has been $3500 - OUCH! |
i would say prices USUALLY range from $700-1200 it can be less or more, but that is the average that i see |
Hello and welcome. I have seen one priced at $6500. ( I thought that was a little extreme.) There is a breeder down here I think hers go for around $500. I think it will mostly depend on the area where you live. |
Is size important to you? They come in all sizes. It seems that in the case of yorkies, one size does not fit all! :D Some people prefer tiny yorkies, others prefer the standard, and still others prefer a larger yorkie! :p |
Those price ranges are about correct. The larger they will be the less they will cost. The smaller ones cost more. The price is also higher for females and what type of bloodline the yorkie comes from whether it is a championship bloodline or not. |

They go from about $350 - $1,500 here in Florida. It all depends on what you're looking for. If your patient you may find one for free, or one on here at a reasonable cost. I found one for free and one cost me $100. I couldn't want any better dogs then I have. |
I agree with the other posts. Here in New England they seem to start at around $700.00 and go up from there. Welcome to YT. |

Hello and welcome to yorkietalk! Your girlfriend has made an excellent choice because yorkies ARE the cutest dogs out there!!! You will come accross some RIDICULOUS prices out there. We paid $900 for Esme. I am presently in search of a companion for her and hope to spend less the second time around. :) So far, I have seen prices starting at around $700. The pricing can also be based upon what sex of dog you get. My male was 600. My female was 1200. The breeders regular price for females was 900 I paid a little more because my female was a smaller yorkie. |
You should be able to purchase a Yorkie of any size you prefer for between $800 -$1500, if you look hard enough. Sue |
Welcome to YT! If you do decide to get one, this forum will be very helful to both of you. Nothing like "hands on experience" from such a wide range of individuals. I live in PA and the "average" price is from $850-$1,200. Of course, as everyone else mentioned, it does vary due to different circumstances. Don't feel obligated to take the first one you see. First of all...Welcome to this yorkie family!! I am so glad that you have decided to do your research on Yorkies before you run out and buy one...you have to be carefully to not buy from puppymills or pet stores... Now, I have to agree with everyone that it depends on where you live on how much they cost...around here they start around $700 and go up to about $1500...but they are worth every penny that you pay for them... Keep us updated on what you decide to do!! |
Hello fellow San Diegan and welcome to YT!! I sent you a private message about our upcoming meetup here where you could see a whole bunch of cute yorkies in person and find out about local breeders. You are so smart to do your homework ahead of time and get what you want from the beginning. Prices in California and Southern California in particular can be high compared to the rest of the country. They start at $1200 and go up to $5000 with the rare "micro-minis" (my term for the super tinies) going for as much as $7500-$8000, but inexoerienced yorkie owners wouldn't want a micro-mini (under 3 lbs as an adult) |

Too many people do not research and then wonder why they have a Yorkie who is hyper and needy. I bet someone in Cali can help you out with what an average price is. Whatever the price is, you don't want the lowest price on the scale, but you don't need the highest either. I am in Indiana (so that's a whole different world), but Baxter was $650 and Chloe was $800. Here the low is like $250 and the high is around $1,100. |
Personally, I've seen most in the $1500-$2000 range. I guess it depends where you by it from and where you live. If you are not a dog lover now...you will soon be! Those little yorkies have a way of getting into your heart REAL fast! Trust me... :) Good luck on your search. |

As they said Welcome... First you have the best weather in the world. We lived in Escondido for 4 years. Here in Indiana they go any where from 600-up with 250.00 shipping charges which includes crate, vet certi. ticket. Some people ship some don't. Nice to have you here. |
