Got my rescued yorkie. He is 10+ from Ireland onto a sanctuary in England then to foster mum and now to a forever home me. His name is Conor (I named him). In Ireland there are over 27,000 dogs PTS.:( in one year. He is deaf, cataract in one eye and has wee problems!. He is on medicine for his urine drips which seems to work. Ive only had him less than two weeks and he is settling in well. Follows me everywhere. He is on ear drops for wax and I hope (dont think so) it may make his deafness less. Ive got two jrt cross bitches and they have accepted him. He still wonders around a lot but hopefully he will settle down well. Will try to post photo. |
Awww! Congrats! I'm sooo pleased you rescued him! Not everyone would take on an older baby especially a sick/deaf/blind/incontinent one! You are truly a great yorkie mum!:D:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::D You have to post some pic's I can't wait to see him!:D |
here he is taken second day I had him. Hope it works?. Image of conor - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting |

God bless you for giving him a happy home and the care he needs. You will recieve the love back 10 fold from him. |
bravo to you for taking in a rescue! He sounds like a sweetie! |
Thanks folks. Ive never had a dog from a breeder in the 43 yrs of dog rescue. Never have ,never will. Too many dogs out there that need rescuing. One dog charity here in the UK say that rescue dogs love you more. I do believe that. |
Congratulations for giving this little one a new home . You are a wonderful person . |
Thanks for giving this guy a great home! Thanks for thinking RESCUE! |
aww congrats! can't wait to see pictures! |

Congrats on getting your new addition! :) |
Conor RIP Just to let you folks know. I had to have Conor PTS last week. He was having fits (on medicine for it) and then he got quite distressed last week going round in tight circles. He looked sad and was haunched . It was distessing to watch him. I had to make the difficult decision. He went quickly and peacefully at the vets with me talking to him and holding his paw. Ive had him 2 years and 2 months and he had loads of love and care. This is a recent photo of him waiting for his lick around my porridge bowl. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...9/conor018.jpg |
I am so sorry. My sincere condolences to you. Conor was very cute and lucky to have your love and care for the time you had him. :rose: |
I am so sorry to see this about Conor. You gave him a wonderful 2 years of love. Now he is at Rainbow Bridge perfectly healthy again playing with all the little ones that were there waiting for him. Thank you for rescuing him:aimeeyork |
You were so kind to rescue Conor and give him probably the best 2 years of his life. I'm so sorry you had to make that difficult decision, but you did all you could possibly do for him and I'm sure he knew you loved him and was thankful to you for all you did. May he rest in peace. |
Thanks. I dreamt he was on my lap licking my nose and I asked a friend if she could see him or if he was a ghost. Then I woke up. Perhaps he came back in a dream to see me. |
Very sorry to hear that, but thanks for the great 2 years he had with you. It is hard to do, but you made the right choice. |
So sorry for your loss.We had to put our 17 year old Suzie down last month. It was very hard. |
The pictures of Conor are just so cute. I am so sorry about your loss. He was very lucky to have a chance to know what love is all about. RIP Conor |
Conor was so lucky to have found you... I am sorry for your loss. RIP Conor |
That is so, so wonderful! I am always so happy to hear about people rescuing instead of "buying." When I was in high school, we adopted a little Yorkie from our local shelter here in DC. He had been badly beaten by a kid with emotional issues and, as a result of the beating, lost his left eye and several teeth. We brought him home, named him Andy, and he lived his last 7 years in pure doggy bliss. Despite only having one eye, he had no trouble getting around. He was the most loving dog anyone could ask for and, amazingly, he loved kids. |
I am so sorry for your loss of Conor. You gave him the best years of his life. |
I'm sorry for your loss of Conor. What a happy little dog he must have been during the time you had him. RIP little Conor. |
I'm so sorry. You took him in, gave him love and care for his last years. You made his remaining years pleasant. My heart goes out to you.:( |
So sorry. RIP. |
I'm so sorry. At least he was loved these past few years, thanks to you. |
Thanks folks. Here is a picture of him and the girls begging for a biscuit. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f1...sorts007-2.jpg This was taken only a few weeks ago. |
Oh I'm so sorry for you loosing Conner! I didnt realize on the first post it was two years ago and was smiling and thinking how wonderful it was you got Conner! Then read when you had to PTS, then I realized it had been two years! You must have given him the best two years of his life, and I'm sure he added so much happines to yours! God Bless you for all you have done with all the rescue dogs. You have really inspired me to seach for my next little furball from a shelter rescue! Please keep up your work and May Connder rest in peace! He was such a real cutie! |
There is a saying over here that rescue dogs love you more. I endorse that. Ive had 46 years of rescuing dogs and they all come on leaps and bounds and its so rewarding. BTW the other two in the photos . Left is Sophie (13) and ex cruelty case and she has lived with me for 7 years and on the right is Becky(7) an ex stray from Ireland and Ive had her 6 years. Please dont use breeders. There are far enough shelter dogs that need loving homes and its so satisfying to rescue. |
