| Pet purse? Hi all, I feel a little stupid asking this question but I will anyway. My Humphrey is only 10 weeks and his little legs get very tired when we are running errands (I refuse to drive as London is a horrible place to drive, and I dont travel more than 3 miles per day). However, Humphrey gets reeeeally tired and after a while he'll just start whining and it breaks my heart, so I carry him back home in my arms (and he will just die after that and sleep for hours). Yesterday, my husband suprised me with a little purse-like bag especially designed for dogs, nothing fancy. Humphrey quite likes it but I am having second thoughts about it, because I don't want my puppy to become another "purse pet" and the thought of puppies in purses is just too Paris Hilton... What are your thoughts on this? Do you own puppy purses? How are they perceived amongst people on this forum? I know most dog owners think its horrible and completely unacceptable...I used to think it was something for bimbos and fad followers... Now I just want what is best for my pet. |

My furkids Donating Member | I don't see anything wrong with it at all...I used to carry Sadie in one when we were on vacation, this way her little feet don't get burned on the hot tar and she doesn't get stepped on. And....she can't pick up anything off of the ground that someone might have dropped. I have 2 furbabies now, I have yet to find a carrier that holds 2.

| Gracie Ruth loves to walk and I let her do so as much as possible. But when we are running errands in a store or go to the flea market (ok there's just something wrong with taking a dog to a flea market ) I always bring a bag to carry her in. As others have stated it keeps her feet off the hot cement, keeps her from being possibly stepped on, keeps her from picking up and eating something, etc... I actually found the loveliest round woven basket at the flea market that she'll lay in. It's more open then a purse and when we do outside events it allows her to get plenty of air. She has a nice purse that we use when we go inside stores. She'll sit nice and quiet in it and many people don't even know there's a dog in it. If Humphrey is getting tired on your trips, then bring the purse along and once he's 'done' walking put him in and give him a rest. As he gets older and stronger, you may find that he is able to walk the whole time, but for now, I think carrying him and not over tiring him is the best. He's only 10 weeks old, that is still very much a baby, you are being a responsible owner by carrying him when he gets tired. And a purse is much more comfortable for both you and him. And the care and wellness of my babies way outweighs what other people may think when they see them in a purse. So give it a try and see if Humphrey isn't actually happier when you get back home.

| I walk everywhere too and always take Mika everywhere I can. When we first brought her home before she had her jabs I used to take her out in a hotdog bag (the type that has a hole in one end so your your pooch can look around) I always have a pram with me too as I have young children and I w ould hang the bag on there. Its not a very common sight in the UK (esp where I live) to see a dog in a bag so I would get alot of comments but never anything nasty. As she got bigger and finished her jabs she started to walk more and more and now she keeps up with us all day long (if she does get a little pooped she hops on the bottom of the pushchair)!
