Collars are nice. I put one on Tila when we go for walks and when I take her somewhere with me. I walk her with a harness though. You'll just have to watch. I read about some of the stories and I thought I'll be careful. But then one day Tila was running around the house with her collar on, (its so cute. Light purple with rhinestones and her tags on it). Anyways I turned my back for a few seconds to grab something from the fridge and she had gotten it caught in her mouth. I got it out quick! She wasn't hurt thank goodness. I just keep an eye on her when she's got it on, so she don't get into anymore monkey business. |
I have thought about getting Pixie is a little lightweight pretty collar to attach an I.D Tag to, just to wear around the house.. in case she ever got out..I see no harm in them wearing one just for in the house when you are around..I would take it off if you left her and of course at bedtimes to...it's such a cute collar I love it!:) |

Everyone I know personally, use collars full time it seems to be common practise round here. I don't know anyone who has had a problem, my mum always used collars on our dogs growing up and she instilled in me the importance of ID tags always being on show. Your dog is much more likely to be returned to you quickly if the worst should happen and they get loose/lost if they have a tag on display. |

Ohhhh I love it! I think that will suit your little Tatum PERFECTLY! :D If it's not on too tight or too loose then I see now reason for her not to wear it all the time. I believe it's just one finger for a small dog/cat as oppose to two fingers though... I could be wrong though but I'm sure this is what I've read. |

Maya wears a collar too .... not all the time but 2 to 3 hr. a day in the house and then when she goes outside to go potty. She never wears one if she is by herself in the house ... I am too worried she might get stuck and choke herself .... .... Never had any problems so far with it .... :) |
Mine wear a collar with a tag always. As did my Yorkie Arnold before them. I've never had any problems. I always use a harness for outside though. No-one will ever think you are silly asking questions here, it's a lovely caring group, and understand how much we, as Yorkie owners, care about our furbabies. Hugs Shirl & the terrible 2. |
both my dogs have their collar on at all times. when walking them, they have their collars on and a harness. we haven't had any problems with the collars except the one with the plastic buckles. we have them on loose so our dogs would get to the plastic and chew it off. we now have the metal fasteners. no problems with it. |
all of my have a collar on..kitty collar with bells...ehhe...so i can hear then running behind to prevent from stepping on them...hehe...i don't see a problem with it...and it should not cause CT imo |
We have several collars with all the bling bling and everything but when I start reading all this post here:rolleyes: I got scare I even got couple of those fancy break away collars for cats and still freak me out if they don't break  I always have use harness though and I place their tags in there, I used to use both but I don't anymore to much going on he,he:p so harness all the way now:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
All of mine have always worn collars 24/7 with thier ID on it (just in case). But recently I have stopped putting them on unless we go out of town. Then I want one on them in case they should get lost. The reason I stopped putting one on at home is because they were causing thier hair to mat really bad on thier necks. Of course I feel safe enough at home that they will not get out of the yard because we have a 6 foot privacy fence in the back yard and they are never in the front unless on thier leashes. |
