puppies living in not so great conditions. hi everyone, i am pretty new here and had posted that i was in search of a yorkie. i just happened to go get a bulletin board and in the pets section was some yorkie pups listed for way cheap!!! so i called, got directions and went to check out the so called full blooded pups. when i finally got unlost lol and made it to their house. they had the pups caged up on the porch while about 15 other dogs ran around the yard. they let the pups out of the cage so i could look at them and low and behold they are full blooded. they have mom and sis from another litter. so i played with them for a while and looked at them closely. they don't feel like they are under weight as i can't feel ribs and they aren't dehydrated. but they were all sticky and stinky. there was one lil guy that's face and head didn't look right to me, but i am by no means an expert. i felt so bad for these pups. when they were running and playing the women were yelling for them and the pups didn't acknowledge they were being talked to so i was afraid the poor guys were deaf. but come to find out they just didn't want to listen to these people. of course i wouldn't listen either, the older guy beat a dog with a metal pole while we were there just cause it wanted some lovin. well i felt so bad for these poor dogs that i bought one. i would have bought all of them but i didn't have $1400 dollars at the moment. these dogs aren't registered, have no shot records, no health guarantee, and the one i took has an over bite or under bite not sure what it's referred to as. i am taking this little guy to the vet first thing tuesday morning. also he won't drink out of a bowl. i have to dip my finger in the water and he licks it off. i also stopped at the store and bought some karo syrup since pet stores were closed by the time i got him. i had read that i can use it if he won't eat so his blood sugar stays up. also these people say the pups are 10 weeks but gave no real answer on a birthday. i know i might have wasted my money on a dog tat has health issues and god forbid may not live long but i had to get him out of the environment he was in, just wish i could have brought all of them home! is there anything i can do for these poor animals legally? they are beat and yelled at and not well taken care of? thanks for any advice for me and my new little guy also. i haven't weighed him yet but am going to do that and take a few pics of him after his nap. we got home and he ate and played for a few minutes and is now napping on my lap. i just hope he is ok or that he can be helped if something is wrong as i love him so already!!!!! |
I have been in a similar situation like that before. When I went to look at one of my dogs, it was dirty, had pooh stuck to it, has a overbite, and was underfeed to make it appear to be smaller that what it should have been. I could not leave that dog there either and I paid my money and left. My vet checked him out head to toe and said he looked good in spite of his horrible living conditions. I have no idea where you can report it to or what can be done about it. I am at least thankful that she is selling all of her breeders and not breeding any longer due to her age. |
I am in Canada and not sure how your laws work.. but geez this is awful.. glad you took one.. post pictures.. One girl did it good for she took her son and took picture of the different dogs and the house and they just thought she was taking picture of her son..so she had the proof.. I think some one will come and see this and be able to send you in the right direction... cannot wait to see pics.. it must have been hard leaving the others behind.. anne |
Call the animal control office in your city or county and they will go out there and check out the conditions and hopefully take all their dogs away!! They don't deserve to own any living thing!! I am not going to comment on you buying a pup because I think you already know that it could be a very expensive mistake that you have made. Good Luck! |
i was almost in tears as i drove off. my 7 year old son went with me and the love kids. they were all climbing all over him and kisses!!!! my lil guy who i haven't named yet, thinking of "Lucky". rode the whole way home on my sons lap, which was almost an hour. we have since my earlier post gotten a bath and does not like it lol. but he smells and looks 100% better. so anyone in or near morgantown wv i beg off you to please go help these poor babies. the people seemed nice to us but to the animals they weren't so nice. how do i post pics? as i said i'm new lol. |
I'd call Animal Control... I'm so glad you saved one of the poor puppies. Call Animal Control or the Police to help out. I'm sure 20 some dogs is illegal no matter where you live. I wish you the best with your new little guy. Can't wait to see pics of him. Let us know what the Vet. says... Blessings...:aimeeyork Baron and his Mom |

He beat a dog with a metal pole? Did you say something? I am pretty outspoken when it comes to animals and small children. PLEASE call the animal control office i hate to think of a yorkie being beaten with a metal pole |
Well...I must say that I stand "IN AWE" of you..such a kind and loving person that you would buy this baby , with hopes that if he has something wrong..it can be fixed. You are a blessed soul! I know that it is suggested (and smart) to buy our babys from reputable breeders, and to make sure that they are healthy. This is certainly the wise way. However...that still leaves the little ones, like yours, who were not fortunate enough to be born into a good environment. They have little flaws and worse, yet , God sends one of His chosen people to go to the puppy and bring it home, willing to do whatever, to be sure that the puppy has a good life. I will say it again..You Are A Blessed Soul! Perhaps there are others here on YT , who would be interested in the other babies that are in need. I didn't notice where you are from, ( I will take a look) and hopefully the others will also. I so often have tears in my eyes as I read the posts on this wonderful site. The people here "REALLY" reach out, they go into action to help and save. I have never before seen such bonded committment. God Bless you and your new Yorkie Patti |
i didn't say anything to the man because i was so shocked by what he had done. the bad part was, my brother had gone with me to read the directions to me, well my brother was petting the dog when the man hit it!!!!!! can you imagine. my brother fell on his butt cause it took him so of guard. i just stood there a minute and it finally sank in, i looked at my brother and son and said we had better get home!!! i couldn't believe what i had seen! |
Sadly theres a lot of pepole like this out there. Its just so sad. I hate seeing people yelling at their pets but hitting one, I think id went off on him. They dont need dogs. most places you can only have so many dogs perhouse hold. I bet if you turned them in they would take most of them. |
1 Attachment(s) well here's a pic of my baby "Lucky" i just think it fits him and the situation he escaped from alive! this is before he ate and drank and got a bath most of all!!! he seems to be doin ok. he has peed, pooed, ate and drank. and when i put him in his cage he cries for about 2 minutes and lays down. so far so good! lets hope the vet says he's good too. i am gonna try the animal control tomorrow and see what they say about the laws in that town. |
Oh my goodness...what a story, I am so sorry you had to witness such a horrible scene. Your little "Lucky" guy seems sweet enough, hopefully he'll get a clean bill of health. I agree with the others, file a complaint. How many grown dogs did you see? I'm sure there are laws against owning too many. My hopes are someone will rescue them...get them fixed...never to be bred again...and that they all find responsible new owners and live happily ever after...spoiled rotten!!! |
there was the grown beagle mix that got hit, 2 adult female yorkies, one adult something under the porch, 3 or 4 around the side of the house "hiding". then 4 yorkie pups and 3 beagle pups, plus a few cats. adn whatever else was in the house that i couldn't see. i heard a few barks from inside. |

LUCKY O'LEPRECHAUN Or LUCKY O"LUCKYCHARM would be cute names. the first one is my Mickeys daddys bame. |
update on his first night here well he did so good. didn't hardly cry in the cage and was just sittin there when i got up. he is so happy this morning. little tail a wagging and ate again. so far so good. his poop isn't loose. doesn't have worms in it so maybe they actually did worm them. i checked his tail and dewclaws and they seem to have healed really good. only bad thing i see is his over bite. so if that is all that's wrong i am so happy! i tried calling animal control in their town and got no answer so i left a message. not sure if they are in today as it's labor day. |

eAw he is so cute. I believe I would have had to buy them all and then clean them up- and get good homes for them. |
He is very cute! Please report these people to the human department~it sounds like a horrible situation.:( Let us know how he does at the vet. Good luck and welcome to YT:) |
still no response from animal control maybe they aren't in today. gonna try again in the morning. i went and got him a harness and leash, and a little blue camo vest with a hook for his leash. i couldn't resist it, just to cute lol:D. got some pee pads too, although he isn't using them lol. i have read of people here using the belly bands, what are they and how do they work and at what age can i start using them? he is said to be 10 weeks. tried to weigh him but won't stand still long enough. so we will have an answer to that tomorrow after the vet. he is eating so good!!! ate 2 times lastnight and 3 more so far today. when i asked what they were feeding him they said just whatever was the cheapest. so that was a concern since i would be changing his food.. afraid he would have an upset belly. i bought the cesar puppy food lastnight as that was the only one i remembered reading somewhere and the grocery store didn't have a huge selection. is this ok for him or should i change it to something else over time? he is doing good with it and really likes it. but i want to feed him what is best for him. i am just trying to do my best for him since he hasn't had the best in his short life so far. any suggestions are appreciated!! |
He is really cute! |
He is very cute and indeed "lucky!" |
call animal control! and lucky is sure a cutie! |
Your litle Lucky is very cute. Thank you for saving him. I agree with all the others.........please do whatever you can to get that breeder checked out and if need be, get the other dogs (adults & puppies) away from what seems like a horrible situation. Please let us know how Lucky's vet appointment goes...hope he checks out in good health. |
Little Lucky is so cute. You are his guardian angel. |
end of our first day well Lucky is an absolute joy! if there is anything wrong then he sure doesn't show it. he has a healthy appetite, tons of energy, loves my 2 sons, loves to give kisses, and is a cuddler :D. so far the only thing i have noticed is his overbite. and he peed on his pee pads 2 times tonight yay!! he is winding down for the night and about to go to bed. i'm glad he doesn't mind his cage at night but he was in a cage on the porch when i got there so he might have spent alot of time in one! he whines at first but after i say no he tilts his head to the side and goes to lay down. he didn't like his bath lastnight and hates being brushed, he tries to bite it lol. but he will just have to get used to it. doesn't seem to mind his vest and leash either, we went for a walk around the yard and he walked right beside me. i will let everyone know how his vet visit goes, keeping our fingers crossed!!! |
You have to keep us posted!!! I'm so glad he found you and you saved him. Let us know everything after your vet appointment tomorrow- weight and all and definitely call animal control tomorrow PLEASE!!!! And maybe the police department in that town. Also when it comes to food the vet may have a good suggestion but I like organic kibble ( dry food ) I found when I got Keoki that worked great!!! I can't wait to hear how everything goes- He is VERY lucky!!!! :) |
where did you get him from? this sounds exactly like the place I got mine from! No regristration, No shot record, pup a smelly mess. and to boot mine had pnemonia, and was scared to death of people, I bought my Riley just to get him out of there also, so I know how you feel. It was a good thing you done. My pup was extreamlly cheap at $250, and I turned the people into the animal control, but I havent heard anything back. they were in Ohio, and must have had 20 differnt pups of various breeds. |
Your little one is indeed Lucky. Congrats to you both and best of luck with your vet appt. Hope all goes well. Welcome to YT. |
Your little Lucky is adorable! Hope the vet gives him a clean bill of health and animal control calls you back. I'd hate to think those poor dogs will have to stay in that kind of living condition:( |
