Thank you for your post on this So heart breaking to see this and want to thank you for posting this to all here. I immediately went and took the rubber chew toys with the holes like that from the girls things. We had one that looked like that but different company, I wonder about the others like the kong? Had two of them. Pitched all of them out. Thank you for posting this, Patti and Jack |
that poor dog ! OMG who would ever think something like that could happen - I could see them swallowing but to get sucked on like that - poor guy - how painful that had to be for him - and probably still is... |

Here's a link to another dog that got his tongue stuck from the same ball: » Toy ball stuck on dog’s tongue The hole looks pretty big and when the ball is squeezed, the tongue can get sucked into the hole  |
How sad for those dogs! I will definately take this to heart and forwarded it on to my friends. I wonder about Kong too-hmmmmmm. If you think about it-it could happen. |

I think as long as the toy has TWO holes, it should be a okay. With two holes, the vacuum effect can happen a lot less then a toy with ONLY ONE hole, such as that toy. but you never know these days, i would take that extra precaution just in case! |

bump this to the top! |
That scared me too death until I kept reading. Tricksie had the Everlasting Fun ball but it has 2 big hole, way larger than her tongue, she has had it over a year. Thanks for letting us know. |
wow how scary!! |
Thanks for posting this. How sad. I couldn't watch the video but the pictures brought tears to my eyes. Who would think such an injury could occur with a little rubber ball? |

Oh that just broke my heart :( I sent an email to the co. |
I received a reply to my e-mail to the CEO Here's the reply to my email: Thank you for your recent note expressing concern over the Four Paws® Pimple Ball with Bell. We were equally alarmed to learn that a dog may have injured himself while playing with this toy. Dogs have been enjoying the Pimple Ball with Bell for more than a decade with over 500,000 units sold. In all the years this product has been on the market, this is the first injury of this nature that we are aware of. Unfortunately, accidents sometimes happen. That’s why we recommend that dogs always be supervised when they are playing with any toy. We take great care in developing safe products for pets and their owners. At this point we have identified the problem and are not shipping any more Pimple Balls. We have contacted customers that carry this product and have asked them to immediately return their inventory. Thank you for your concern and feedback. Please know that we are in direct communication with the pet owner whose dog was injured. At Four Paws, happy pets and satisfied pet owners are our number one priority. Rest assured we will continue to work hard to deliver on our priority. Sincerely, Allen Simon President, CEO Four Paws Products Sent by Haley Birk on behalf of Allen Simon They act like this is the only case. I know that this has occured with many other dogs. Chai unfortunately lost his tongue, but I'm positive other dogs had to go through the same pain and suffering before the ball could be removed. |
True but how many case goes unreported...but at least with Chai case action is being taken... |

Hmmmm. they must be getting so many mails about this that they have an auto responder handling mails that mention this. I found this on the net after doing a brief search. It is exactly like yours but I am posting it anyway to show that it is just a canned mail response. I received this letter today from the manufacturer of one kind of pimple ball: "From: Haley Birk Sent: Thursday, August 21, 2008 10:32 AM Subject: RE: Pimple ball with bell Thank you for your recent note expressing concern over the Four Paws® Pimple Ball with Bell. How sad. I would never, ever, want anything like that to haappen to my baby! |
I just bought 3 kongs last week. This scared me too until I noticed that even the small ones have a little tiny hole in the other end. I think they are okay since they have the 2 holes. Scarey stuff. |
That poor dog. I feel bad for the owners too. Thank you so much for the information. I just threw two of those balls in the garbage. I kept the Kong but will only let my dog have it when I am supervising - even tho it does have two holes, one larger and one tiny one. Katy just loved those balls too. It's just not worth it. I am going to look for tennis balls next time I visit the pet store or Wal-mart. |
This is Horrible! Gosh I was mouth agape when I read this story! Poor Dog! But after reading it I could understand how this could happen. I immediatly went and looked all through my yorkies, Dixie and Teddy's toys and did not find anything even resembling this type toy although I have seen them at the pet store. If I go back in there again and see this type toy I am going straight to the manager and telling him this story.;) |
