| Weird ways Yorkies eat? I don't know about yawl; but Onni is a little stinker when it comes to eating. I have to either put the kibbles in my hand and she will eat out of my hand or I have to toss them one little piece at a time on the floor and then she runs and scoops them up. I can also get her to eat if I throw a few pieces for Mikey the JRT, then she thinks she is getting one over on Mikey if she races him for the piece herself. LOL these little dogs are truly a breed all unto themselves.

| Canyon will eat out of his bowl during the day when I'm at work, but at night, I take kibble and place it outside his crate so that when he passes by, he can grab a piece or two, this is how he works. |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Sometimes Audrey eats out of her bowl, sometimes she carries a mouth full to the living room. She spits it out eats one kibble at a time then goes back and does it again till she's full.

That's what Daisy does! She brings in a mouth full for Abby, drops it, then goes and gets a mouthful for herself and she eats it...silly puppies!

| I have noticed trixie will eat out of the boul only when lola, the bichon, is eating from it. Otherwise, she will only eat from the floor |

Donating YT 7000 Club Member | Tucker used to eat normally, but when we got Maddie he started eating like her. He picks up one kibble at a time out of his food dish, walks into the hallway, eats it, then walks and picks up another one, etc. It's hysterical! and he drinks with his head practically in the bowl, with his nose pushed up against the opposite side. It's so cute!

YT 500 Club Member | That's how Sophie eats too. But my brother in-law has a mix breed of some kind (bigger dog), and she does the same thing. Sophie also doesn't like to eat unless we are in the room too.

| yorkies and their kibbles... This is an amusing thread. Some breeds of dog tend to be "chow hounds" and will gobble everything up you put in front of them. Yorkies are as we all know, are finicky eaters for the most part. One thing I've noticed is that my yorkies tend to get bored with the same food day in and day out. Now that we have one puppy and one 2 yo, they are always trying to get at each others food, like its so incredibly delicious. They turn their nose up at their own food unless they are really hungry. When I've changed premium brands in the past, I've gotten the same reaction... It's fine kibble for a couple weeks until the magic wears out. I have also had to hand feed my yorkies when they were real young pups, or they just would not eat. The trick where you slide their food across the floor, kibble by kibble also works as you point out. I believe that it triggers their hunting instinct, i.e., their terrier dog brains are wired to attack things that move like that! I personally really like the mini crunching noise they make when they eat, especially when both are eating at once. It’s too cute. |
