My Hero.
 

I have some bad news. We had a fire in our house last night, It is still standing...but the inside is bad. We lost alot, and what wasn't burned up is saturated with smoke. Here is the part that gets me. I was asleep at the opposite end of the house of where the fire started. Sound asleep. Dakota saved my life! She growled and barked her little head off and jumped on me until I woke up. She woke me up and we were able to get out. Now dont get worried, dakota is fine. I took her to the vet today and and they said she checked out just fine. They said how brave she was. I couldn't agree more. For now all we can do is pray the insurance company does their thing quickly. We are staying at his parents house for know. I will try to keep you updated, but I don't have a computer anymore. :rolleyes: Luckily we mailed our GE buddies package at the beginning of the week. :)

Oh no I'm soo sorry to hear this! :( I am SOOOOO glad that you and little Dakota are alright. Our babies our just amazing aren't they!!!

Oh Hon, I am so very sorry this happened. I'm just so grateful for your little yorkie angel hero! They truly do take care of us as we do them! I pray that everything can be sorted out quickly as I know this is devastating! Kisses/Hugs to Dakota!! Dakota is a true Hero!! :number1ri:angelyork

Oh my god i'm SO sorry.... and what a hero Dakota is.... it's incredible how much dogs know and what they are capable of! Please keep us posted as you are able to.

I am SO very sorry to hear about your house, and I hope everything turns out ok and the insurence co dont take to long, but did you think of calling the local paper and telling them your story about how your yorkie saved you, I bet they would be interested.

Fire is something that scares me so much.

Awwww. That is such a wonderful story. So sorry about the fire but kudos to your Yorkie for rescueing you. They are amazing little creatures, huh?

Thank you all! We are doing ok. Dakota is being a little trooper, being as she is in a strange place without all her things. :( poor baby. The insurance gave us the papers to fill out Saturday on what we had lost, but we have more than triple what our limit is in losses and damages. I am just hoping and praying they give us enough. We have begun to look for an apartment, and some houses, they are wanting us to repair the house and live there...but with my lung problems my doctor said I couldn't (not that I wanted to :) ), So we are having to be careful with how much we can spend. Thank you everyone again for your kind thoughts and prayers. I will try to keep you posted when I have access to a computer. :) Love you all!

I just really can't imagine what you must be going through, losing what you must've lost. I'm thinking of you and my heart goes out to you.

Hey everyone, I just wanted to try and update everyone. The insurance still hasn't paid us for everything inside the house we lost. But they did give us a small check to start "repairs", the only bad thing is I am not going to be able to live there due to my lung problems. So we are trying to find a place to rent or what not so we can get out of his parents spare bedroom. :rolleyes: They have been nice in letting us stay with them....but I am ready to have my own place, and dakota needs more room than a little bedroom. :( My husband is having the house "fixed", so we can get the rest of the insurance money (which isn't near what we hoped for). However, I am sure everything will work out for the best. Thank you everyone for your kind words and thoughts. Dakota received her ge box in the mail yesterday and that was a huge blessing as she didn't have anything, her wonderful buddy remi sent her a bunch of great toys and a cute bed and the most darling blanket...which dakota LOVES to death (this makes me happy as she lost her fav. blankie in the fire). It was so heart warming to see her playing again, and to look like she wasn't so worried. She looked happy! :) I will try to keep you posted on our progress as I can. Love you all!!
