I agree Jennifer. My girl was around that size at 12 weeks and she weighs like 11-12lbs now. I love her death. I love the fact that she's bigger. She's sturdier than most and I love her. I'm sorry your mother-in-law can't keep a bigger sized one and I would take the puppy in a heartbeat if you were closer. |
Yep... bigee here.... Bailey is 13 pounds and he is 14 months old... but he hasn't changed in months so, I think hes done growing. |
I bet your mother-in-law's baby will be 12lbs tops. |
doggie size I am sooo happy to read about large Yorkies, I thought mine was a fluke. Misty is 7 mos and 9.5 lbs and I thought she was HUGE. I wouldn't trade her for a little one ever. It's much easier to play w/ her w/o worring about hurting her, plus I have a 15 lb cat so they can play safely also. 18lbs DOES seem a little drastic however. I agree 14lbs TOPS! I hope you Mom in law can keep the puppy. She will be very happy. But if she can't I am sure will find alot of people that will take the puppy and give it a good home. Good luck |
Stomper is 14 pounds! Just took him to the vet. He has papers too. He looks JUST like a yorkie but HHHHHHHHHHUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGEEEEEEEEEEE! :) Stomper was 3.3 pounds at 8 weeks. That might help you determine how big that little guy will be. Maybe I should say big guy! Sure hope he can find a home. Where do the dog live that she wants to get rid of? I'm in CA!!!! |
toby tips the scales around 14 lbs too........... he is really much smaller looking than his weight would suggest, maybe he is made of brick  |
Some puppies put on a lot of weight early, that's what Chloe did. I forget exactly how much she put on but I remember thinking at that rate, when she turned one year old she'd be 20 lbs. She is 7lbs and a great dog. |
Chopper is 13 pounds and I would not have it any other way. He seems to be stronger and healthier than the smaller ones I have seen but, he is the first yorkie I have ever had. |

My Yorkie is 19lbs! 🐶 Hello, this is my first time on yorkie talk, so hello to all yorkie owners! My yorkie bailey is 3 years old and is 19lbs. I got him from a breeder, I went to their house and even met the parents of my baby. The mother was 6lbs and the father was 8lbs, and my baby is 19! I got him at 10 weeks old and he was 4 1/2lbs. I noticed he was getting bigger and bigger, (I could see more and more of his head when he stood at the foot of my bed :D) so when I took him to the vet, she said some yorkies are larger because they show more dominant features of their ancestral line. He's purebred 100% Yorkshire terrier, no silkie or any other mix. I have papers and like I said I met the parents. He is my baby and I enjoy his size because he's more fun to pay around with and they say larger yorkies have a longer life span because their organs aren't as tiny. I haven't had any dental problems, I give him dental stick daily, and he has been 100% healthy since I got him. I have also met people, his groomer for example, who have yorkies 20+ lbs. so long story short, yorkies can be 18+ pounds and be healthy and happy and be purebred as a yorkie who's 6lbs. |
