My EX-boyfriend also bought (my oldest) Yorkie as a B-day present and I contrubuted $200 towards him...and I ended up naming him Tae ... My Boyfriend' name was Shawn Te' (pronunced tay) so I named Tae (pronunced tay) after him...and all his friends would tease him about it...and I loved it! He did not really want me to name Tae that but he lived with it... of course now when people ask me how I got his name....well.... luckily I registered him as caffe latte' and said tae was for short :-) I would try and come to an agreement on a name....but of course with your influence |
The first time he sees your fur baby in clothes his heart will melt and that will be it. As far as getting to name the little thing.....tell him he can name the half he paid for. You can figure out which end of the dog is the half I'm talking about. LOL |
I have always let my husband pick out the names. I figure he will be more accepting and it always works. We do throw out names and he ends of picking the names. He named Zorro, Gracie, Maya, Dixie and Roxie. He paid for Pixie and Roxie. Pixie was 13 months when we got her and already named so we didn't change it. Then when we got Dixie (RIP) he wanted to have a Pixie and Dixie after the cartoons, then when Dixie passed on after such a short time and the breeder gave us another puppy he named her Roxie. So i really don't think it's that big of a deal. As long as I was able to get my babies I really didn't care about names. And he didn't pick bad names either. So as long as you are getting you baby I would let him name it and I gurantee he will love the little guy. |

I had a lot of laughs reading this thread. Really, the name is not going to matter because you'll have so many nicknames. And go ahead and LET-- LOL -- him name your baby because you'll be getting another because he's taken over and you can name that one. It's all about compromise. ENJOY YOUR FURBABY! |
Why does one of you or the other have to choose the name? My bf and I picked out Scooter's name together. We made a list of a bunch of names that we both liked, then put them in order from favourite - least favourite. Well it turned out Scooter was at the top of both our lists! You guys should be able to find a name you both like. You should try to choose it together so that neither of you are upset with the result! |

Oh, and by the way.... :bigbdaypa |
Ha! Once you bf sees the little one he'll fall in love - you CANNOT look at the little teddy-bear face of a yorkie puppy and not melt :p My husband said no to clothes too - like he has any say in the matter! She's my girl 100% - I feed her, clean up after her, bathe her, take her to doggie-day care, and foot the bill for all vet visits. :D |
Oh men, men...men....I don't want to say they are all the same, but almost.....just let your BF, pay for the dog, choose the name, you are going to call him however you like anyways , and as far as the dressing him up.., winter is coming, your baby NEEDS to be warm,(you are such a good mom, you can't just let your baby freeze to death, can't you? LOL) by the time winter is over, your BF won't even remember what your baby looked like without clothes. He will be happy because he got to name the dog, you'll be happy because you got your present, you got to call your baby what you want, got to dressed him up,and most of all, because you made your BF happy thinking you do what he wants ;) :bigbdaypa |
problem This is not a gift...you are paying half..what kind if gift is that??? You can't naem it or dress it,...so it is his gift!! Save and buy your own dog...and get a new BF to boot!LOL LOL |

Also with your name on the registration papers - :animal36that makes YOU the owner and that way if the relationship ends and there ends up being a "custody" issue - you have documents stating that you are the owner - happends all the time! Be smart - protect yourself and sweetie.....the words "let you" should never come out of a guys mouth! PERIOD! :p |

Peanut was my birthday gift to myself for my 40th birthday. I wanted to make sure I got what I wanted. My husband didn't know anything about him until a week before his arrival. I always surprise him with a new pet, but I happen to catch him in a really good mood and told him about Peanut. We just surprised him a couple of weeks ago with a new kitten so we are at our limit now with 2 dogs, 2 cats and 2 birds. I did promise no more animals the ark is full. Good luck with you new baby. |
