Isn't it something how much We Love Our Babies? I am sure Layla will be fine. It will be over before you know it. I am just like you. It would be the end of the world if my Pebbles had to go. I freak out just to bring her for her annual check-up. I am always afraid they might find something. Thank god she is always fine. For a week before our appointment, I will feel terrible, and when the day comes, forget it. I am a nut for my baby. I also have 2 German Shepherds. So I get to feel like this for 3 dogs. I just Love All My Babies. Pebbles and I wish You and Layla good luck.:goodluck: Take care and let us know how she made out.:big_hug: |
I know it is hard see them go to the vet for what we see has bad stuff, but they won't be upset unless you are. When Duchess had her two teeth removed, I kept them for her baby book. Hugs to both of you. |
Well I took her in this morning and the vet wasn't in yet, so there was no chance to look at her teeth to decide if she needed a cleaning. On the phone yesterday the tech told me that IV would be a good option if she did get her teeth cleaned so I checked it on the checklist just in case. I also opted for the free nail trim :) We got her weight and I handed her over to the tech, and the last thing I saw was her little yorkie butt walking down the hall with her tail up high, without even a look back at her poor mommy! |
I dropped her off at 8 and now it's past 11 and no word yet... I guess that means there's no emergency but I still want to hear that she's okay! I have pictures of her all over my desk at work so I've been thinking about her all morning.... |

Sending you our prayers.:) |
 It's 4 in the afternoon and I hadn't heard anything all day. I just got a call, expecting it to be "She's ready to be picked up" but it was "I'm just about to start on Layla now, can you pick her up at 7 or 7:30 tonight?" She has been there since 8!!!!!!! |

They told me not to feed her past 9:00 last night so the last I know of her eating was around 8:30 last night. I'm hoping they did her bloodwork first thing this morning and then maybe let her eat... Would they let her eat before putting her under? They did ask what kind of kibble she eats. They better have let her eat! Now I have even longer to be worried sick about her. I really do love her vet, she's so good with Layla all the time, so I'm just shocked that this happened today. |
The reason why they say not to feed is because it the anthesia will make them sick with food in their belly. If the vomit while under it could aspirate into their lungs. Which is dangerous. They will wait to feed her until after. However, it still can make them vomit . I have had surgery, and my brother took me out to lunch. Not even an hour later, I puked sooooo much . The stomach needs to be empty before and after surgery. They do not even like it if you give water ! :aimeeyork How are thing with your Layla now? :aimeeyork |
Thanks for the info... so I guess she hasn't had food for almost 24 hours now. :( It\'s almost another 2 hours before I can pick her up. I just got home and I feel like crying! |
I am sorry :( Your baby will be ok! They really do not feel like eating after surgery. It is better to have her wait, until she feels better. :aimeeyork |
Sorry that you are still waiting. Hopefully she will be home soon. |
I just got her :D All that worrying for nothing. My poor baby is still a bit groggy... she was like a rag doll on the way home. She wasn\'t even excited to see me when I picked her up! They said they gave her a painkiller shot that should last for 24 hours and she\'ll be fine after that... but they also said to try feeding her soft food for the first few days to a week. Unfortunately the GOOD pet food store is closed so I had to settle with Cesar for tonight... terrible I know, but I will get something better tomorrow. I think she was just happy to get SOMETHING in her tummy. |
