| Does anyone have any good suggestions to get one's Yorkie to come to them when called? Misty will just stand and look at me and if I approach her, she runs away. This is driving me bonkers! There has to be a solutionn to this, but I'll be danged if I know what! Pat |

| Try holding a treat that you know she loves and have a friend hold her several feet away. Keep saying "come here" or whatever phrase you want to associate with coming to you as your friend continues to hold the dog. She should get really excited to get the treat and eventually, have your friend let her go and she should come running to you. Give her the treat and praise the dog. At least that's what I have read to be a very effective method with dogs that are a bit stubborn. |

| On one of the animal planet shows, the way they trained the dog was to make a noise and turn away from the dog. It has to be an odd and attention catching noise. Another way was call the pup and get on your hands and knees and dip down. (like the pup does when it wants to play, with the front paws down and bum in the air) In the last situation, when the dog was called it ran, this hot his attention and eventually he learned to come when called.

| My sister-in-law & I have been doing that with Chelsea for a while, once she know U have a treats she comes. But, when I don’t have that treat forget it, she just stands there or runs. I’ve tried getting very excited and start running the opposite way to no avail. I’ve changed the tone of my voice to no avail….a friend who looks after dogs will call her and she comes, go figure…

| I tried the same thing with a treat! In the house it works wonders, but outside--forget it! I will probably have to tie a light rope to her harness and do the--let her go, call her in, and then pull her in at the same time I say, Come On! This works, but I haven't done it for awhile. She was doing okay after I did this for awhile, but I started running after her, and now it is a game to her. I will let you know after I do the above if it will work again or not! Pat |

We have never punished her in the few weeks that we've had her, we thought it was due to something in her past. But now I wonder if it's just her being a stubborn Yorkie. Today I left her in the back yard when the phone rang. She came to the door then turned around and walked away. The back yard is fenced so she was fine when I came back a few min later. She was standing at the door with her front paws on it looking in to see if I was coming. |

| Funny! They can be stubborn sometimes! Romeo does it occasionally and holding his favorite treat helps but I like the other ideas on here and may try those too! I've also noticed ever since I've started playing chase with me, everytime I tell him to come, he runs off, thinking I'm playing a game

| YT 1000 Club Member | Roxie likes to do this sometimes too. I have found if I move slower and get a little lower she doesn't jump back. I think they are so small and everyone wants to pick them up all of the time when they don't want to be so they just jump out of reach. I always call her and turn away so she'll follow. When I turn away she knows I'm not playing and I'm going in or someplace else. Keep treats in your pocket so you can just pull one out, after awhile (like others have said) you won't need them. She gets funny sometimes though, she likes to try to assert some independance and walk away. Little stinker. Most of the time she's pretty good about following me unless my sons dog is outside with us. Those 2 together are trouble so I've started keeping one of them in while the other goes out. | Mia ia 9 months old today and she still will not come when I tell her to. The only way I get her, is to tell her to "stop" and she will stop and turn around for me to pick her up... It's funny, because she will turn her butt to me and I pick her up.. Soooo cute...., but I do wish she would come to me when I ask...
