I never worried about Ellie so much until I joined YorkieTalk. I'm sorry about your first little puppy.:( Was the shunt inoperable? Some Yorkies, especially those who come from questionable breeders, are prone to many health problems. Only buy from breeders who test their sires and dams and hope for the best. Ellie has high bile acids (but not a shunt), she had pancreatitis, she had severe periodontal disease and she has allergies but she is soooo worth it.:) Sorry, I know that isn't what you wanted to hear. :( |
:aimeeyork I understand how you feel about this tiny little one . I felt the same way with Suzi. She is 5 months old now, and is doing great! It is natural to worry, and care about something that you love. You don't want to see your daughter getting hurt either. I am sorry about what happened to the first puppy  Your daughter has a tiny Yorkie right now, and they can be more susitable to health problems. She needs to be very careful and cautious. Puppy shots are very important to give. AND the Rabies shot is not given until at least 4 months old. I worry about my Suzi still, however, it is a little easier now. Once the puppy has been around for a while things will calm down and get better. :aimeeyork |

I'm happy to report that I have 2 very healthy Yorkie girls. *knock wood* I worry too, but they are fine! I plan on having them for years and years to come :) This is all still so fresh in your mind, that's probably why you can't relax. We lost a little male Yorkie in Jan. to an accident, that was totally my fault. I'm hyper vigilant now with my two girls. He was healthy as well, which made it all the more heart breaking :( My little Peanut has been gone just over 6 months, but I still miss him terribly, so I know what you're talking about. It's very nice to meet you :) |
Her 1st puppy just happened to get sick one evening and they took her to an emergency vet in a near by town...did some tests, put her on iv's and by the next day she was almost dead. She was a very, very sick puppy! :( |
