Yorkies Playing FETCH??? I was wondering if anyone else's dogs are obsessed with playing fetch. Both of my dogs are like this, especially Baron (our 1 year old). He will wake you up with his toy in your face, barking at you....wanting to play fetch. I didn't think Yorkies were supposed to want to play fetch? Does anyone else's dogs do this??? I find it so weird :p |
Nothing weird. My yorkies love it too. |
KaCee LOVES to play fetch! I get worn out before she does:rolleyes: |
My Shelby Rose wears me out wanting to play fetch all the time. Anytime you sit down, she's right in your face holding her "newspaper" she wants you to throw for her. She's just so cute. :^) |
TJ and Sandy will wear you out playing fetch. Dexter will take his toy and go hide it.... then come and get another one for you to throw. Love my babies.. |
Mine does that too ... and she will not stop barking at you until you play with her .... she is soooo spoiled ... he he he :D |
Turbo is crazy for fetch....hours of fun for him, sore arm for me and the hubby... |
Joshua loves to play fetch too. Every time I sit down he drops his toy by my feet, and begs me to play fetch with him. He will keep bringing another toy for me to throw until I start playing fetch with him. One day I refused to play fetch with him, because I was watching TV. While watching commercials, I decided to look down by my feet, and I saw all of his toys by my feet. It was hilarious to see all of his toys in a pile by my feet. I am trying to set a specific time during the day when we will play fetch. Cesar Millan said the leader of the pack should initiate the game. |
Yup, fetch is Winky's JOB! He will do this from the moment he gets up until the moment he lays down for bed if he could! He likes variety too, sometimes it's just a small 3 inch stuffed animal, sometimes he likes a 8" plush bone... |
yep kinnys too always from the minute we got her loves to play fetch, bring the toy, come on mum throw !!! FETCH FETCH FETCH, |
Avie loves to play fetch! :) my moms yorkie Haley also loves it!! :) i haven't heard of a yorkie that DOESN'T! ;) |
Mika's not quite got the hang of it yet! She will chase, catch and then take her toy back to her bed to kill it!LOL! |
My Yorkie Arnold loved it, but Katie and Suzi no they wont play it. Pity really 'cos I used to love it. Love Shirl x x :wavey: |
Sammy plays fetch with her fishy, which is bigger than her head. It's not always "fishy time" but when she decides it is, watch out. Otherwise, if it's not fishy time and I throw the fishy she just looks and me weird. She is so silly. Loki will fetch anything for a treat. Seriously, if my socks were on the floor and I said "fetch my socks" he would bring them to me, but ONLY if I had a treat. It's funny because most of his commands he will do without a treat, like sit, down, drop it, leave it, stay, kiss, wave, etc.... as long as he is periodically rewarded. But if you want him to go run across the room and fetch something you better have a treat that he can SEE. Lazy dog. |
Count Roxy in with the rest of the "fetchaholics." She takes turns between bringing her toy back to me or to my son. When we have company she is very careful to include everyone in order just like a mom to keep kids from feeling left out. When we start to slow down in our end of the game, she will switch toys to re-new our interest. I take her to potty first thing in the morning, she brings me a toy very next thing. And the next thing. And the next.......and so goes her preference for her daily routine. It is a tough job for a little girl to properly train her people, but Roxy is persistent, and it would seem her hard work is paying off! :p |
Zoie use to want to play fetch before she would have her morning meal. She would play and work up some slides on the kitchen floor and hall back to give the ball to me. She loves that little soccer ball. Now sometimes she likes to run down the hall and fetch but she doesn't always bring it back to you to reach. She will make you lean over and get the ball. She is smart she wants to make sure I get my excerise as well. |
All four of mine want to play fetch all the time. I have to take the toys away and play individually or sometimes with just two at a time. They get so possessive of the toy and will not share at all, sometimes they get angry with each other. But we all do enjoy a good game of fetch. |

Yep, count Abigail among those ensnared in the frenzy of fetchaholicism(?) She will bring her favorite toy of the week, lay it at your feet, and sit back to wait your reaction. If you do not react correctly (pick up said toy and throw it), she will put the toy ON you somewhere. "Oh, maybe she didn't see it"....lol until her subject is worn down to do her bidding. |
My 11 m/o girl (Little Bit....Bitty for short) taught me to play fetch at 9 months. She has a stuffed Tootsie Roll squeaky that is the favorite. It's about worn out so I ordered 6 more.:D |
Trixie is definately a nuerotic fan of fetch. I actually have to MAKE her stop and rest. She will be out of breath and tired, but she will not let a thrown toy go without bringing it back to you. |
Cassiopia is almost 7 months old and she is a fetchaholic as well. My husband and I would sometimes play "monkey in the middle with her". Of course she's the monkey!:tongue5: |
fetch Binky and Fergie love to play fetch.Fergie is the fetcher abd Binky is her cheerleader.Binky won'ttouch the ball but she gets real excited when Fergie runs with it. TOO CUTE |
Oh, yes! Muffin would play and play and play. Now, Kacee doesn't go as long with playing fetch as Muffin did, but Kacee replaces that with all of the walks she can talk me into!:D |
Sophie loves to play fetch. She won't give it back to me though. I have to trade another toy with her to get the original toy back. She's a snob ;) She also tried to get me to play in the middle of the night last night. I ignored her and went back to bed. Then she rubbed the toy in my face while I tried to sleep. What a goof! |
So, just curious... Quote:

FA (Fetchaholics Anonymous) Hmmmmm, maybe we need to have an FA (Fetchaholics Anonymous) social group. A support system for those whose babies are addicted to the game of fetch? :animal37 Does anyone know how we would do that? |

It's not that I thought yorkies weren't playful, it's just all of the goldens and labs I had growing up didn't even like to play fetch this much! My grandma's female yorkie never played fetch or anything so I guess I didn't think about it, and none of our friend's yorkies play fetch. I thought my dogs were abnormal, but now I know they're not :p |
Bailey likes to play. Its playtime whenever we go to another room. She's not obsessed with ketch. But, she does love it. Does anyone else's Yorkie get her fur in her teeth after retrieving a toy? It is so cute watching her get the fur out once she has the toy securely in her paws.:animal-pa |

KiKi loves to play fetch...she will play fetch with a few of her toys, but she has one she play with only on the bed...a cloth ball with a circle ring on it...everynight at (my) bedtime I take KiKi into bed with me and we play fetch on the bed for about 30 -40 minutes straight...of course she wants to play tug-of -war when she brings it back...she loves this and now it is a nightly routine (not going to be good though when I go away for 2 wks - wonder if the kids will mind doing this with her in my place LOL) |
