Would you like to see what I did?!?! :) 3 Attachment(s) So, I just finished my 2nd harness vest for Kammie and wanted to share it with everyone! :D I am pretty excited about how much I am enjoying sewing and it feels so good to look at something and be able to say "I did that!" :D Don't mind my messy, grumpy furbutt, she wasn'at all impressed that I woke her up to model at midnight ;) She told me it could have waited until morning but I was to excited to wait, lol! I just started sewing this past weekend so please excuse the mistakes in it :p as I am just learning. That is a bow I made at the bottom of it, but my cell didn't pick it up very well. it looks a lot better in person, lol! Soooo here it is! DH named it.......Mint Chocolate Yorkie !!!! |

Erin you did a wonderful job! Did you follow a pattern? Make your own pattern? I have something in the makings where I may be making some vest/dress harness's soon and I really like the way yours looks. Great color choices too. |

Looking real good! Don't worry about the mistakes! practice makes perfect! I now say I can sew with my eyes closed LOL |
Very yummy! Now I'm craving those little choco/mint layered candies..... I just started sewing again too--- the diffs between my old machine and the new is night and day. I spend more time sewing and less time tweaking the machine. Can't wait to see more. |

great job....i too sew but until i strat being a donating member i cant advertise or sell on YT...but in a few weeks you will be able to see some of my work on another member's furbabies.....great job.....it looks like the work of some one who has been sewing for a long time..believe me...im a seamstress so i know quality work when i see it |
Looks wonderful! You are inspiring me to clean off my sewing machine! |
Cute, cute, cute!!!!! One note of caution when using the split "D" rings - no matter how good you think they are secured, or how wide the ribbon, they can still slide out of the dress. I've had this happen with name brands as well as homemade items. I know you can't find solid cast "D" rings in the store, you need to order them online, but they are well worth the security. |
Looks pretty good nice job and I love the colors |
Erin, you did a fantastic job. I'll be looking for your first "For Sale" thread in the near future. Keep up the good work!!!!! |
Great Job! I sew a lot, and I still can't make pleats look good. So great job on the pleats! You have a natural talent. :D |
That is the cutest harness I have ever seen! You did a great job! |
That is so cute! great job:) |
It's beautiful. You really should be proud of that.:) |
You've made my day!!!! :thankyou2You guys are the absolute best!! :mademyday Thank you ALL so much for your kind words of encouragment!! I am absolutely blushing right now :embarasse from reading all of them!! What a wonderful YT page to read 1st logging in today. Plus, reading the compliments from our YT seamstresses, now that makes a girl proud:D OK, now down to business, lol! Jodie, I am realizing that about the D-rings! The original ones I bought, Koda had bent backwards the 1st day. I picked up diff ones yesterday (that seemed very durable) but they are split to, no matter how strong they seem, our sweet little furbutts are STRONGER!! Safety is my biggest concern also. Koda has destroyed several of them on previous items I am have purchased. At least now I will be able to fix them so he can use them again, rather than having them sit in the back of his drawer being unused! DH and I were trying to figure of where to get solid ones at, thank you for pointing me in the right direction of buying them online. Cindy, I'm a long way from the for sale threads! But I'm very determined about making it a reality someday!! Making these few things has given me such self satisfaction. I love be ale to look at it and say "I DID THAT" I can't wait to be able to learn how to make custom things from just measurements. I found it's easier to go bigger than smaller so far lol! But going up on some parts and down on others all in the same item is what I need to learn! hviloa, ya those pleats have been challenging! I'm working on getting them more evenly spaced, but it's hard! Tnyorkiemom, I can't wait to see what you have done! Quality is my goal not quantity! I can't wait until I get my glitches figured out and am able to offer a few of my items. I'm usually not a perfectionist by any means, but with this I can't imagine sending out anything less than perfect to anyone! You guys are really going to push me to do my best! yougetthesmiles, I'm still worrying about sewing my finger with my eyes open, lol! :p To those wondering about a pattern. No I don't own a pattern for anything, lol! I have just been using the numerous harnesses I have purchased from different YT'ers, studying them, and using a good ole pencil and the back of my fabric to adjust things differently. I would never straight copy anything of anyones, that wouldn't make it my own so to say. ;) I'm want to be as original as I can. I know there is only so many ways to make harnesses, dresses, and things for our furbabies. That is where I am coming into some questions. For now I will just be purchasing my fabric from local chain stores. Do you YT'rs who sell, ever get upset when someone else comes up with the same fabric and similar design on something you have made though it happened unintentionally? I haven't seen any duplicates, but how?!?! With all the people who purchase from places like Walmart and JoAnns how do we NOT end up seeing several of the same fabrics?!?!? lol! I would never want anyone to think I was copying, but how do I prevent that? I suppose ordering online saves a lot of that worry due to the much bigger selection. That will come in time!;) I have a lot to learn and who else to ask than the best! I appreciate any and all of your thoughts and ideas, that is why I ask! ;) Once again Thank you everyone! |
so cute! |
These look like good D rings. Lot of ~ 20 ~ 3/4" Metal Solid Welded D Rings - eBay (item 300242505746 end time Jul-23-08 10:00:11 PDT) |
Thank you! Quote:
I appreciate it your time :) |
Great Job!! It looks super cute! :) About the duplicates, I try to be as original as possible but every so often a design of mine will look similar to something else I saw or vice versa. It's difficult when many people buy from the same fabric sources - but usually there are always slight variations in trimmings, ect. I hope that makes sense. I haven't been upset when I have the same fabric as someone else or they have the same fabric as me, it happens all the time and it really can't be helped :). Just be as creative as possible for yourself to try to stand out, that is what I try to do as well :) |
Those are awesome! I wish I had time to sew like that they look so neat! Looks like if fits your Yorkie comfortably too. |
