Wire transfer vs. money order (overnight) Which is the best way to send payment, wire transfer into an account or money order (overnight)? My friend is purchasing a shih tzu out of state and was wondering what to do. Pam |
Neither ..use Paypal. Both of those you can't get the money back. If you use your credit card and sign up for paypal it gives you double protection. Credit cards give the charge back and fraude and so does paypal. I would never send a wire transfer or western union. |

I would be hesitant to deal with anyone that wants a wire transfer since thats how most scammers want payment. I dont know though Ive never purchased a dog out of state because its so risky. I will be interested in seeing the other responses |
I have purchased from out of state and never ever paid by wire transfer. It gives you no protection at all. Credit Cards are very good for charge backs. |
I contacted paypal about a charge for something that I bought from a website and how I did not receive the product and they told me that they only protect against Ebay purchases, not other purchases on the internet..hmmm... Now I am confused because I was out $55.00... |
If you use Paypal and Discover then Discover will cover the fraud if any I'm sure other credit cards do to. |
Be careful doing that. You may not get your money back if she falls victim to fraud. |

I would look into different credit card options and see if you're insured if you don't get the pup. |
you should do that.. puppy thing.. UH what is it called!!! puppy transfer??? ok i looked it up. its called puppy escrow!! Puppy Escrow, LLC - Protecting Buyers & Sellers from Fraud i hear this is the safest way to do it soley online |

Scam...legit breeders do not make you wire transfer or western union money!! I wouldn't send the money. |
I vote for using paypal. Sometime you may have to pay around 3% more to cover their fees, but that's WAY cheaper than a Money Order. :) |
I wouldn't do either. I agree with the others, either paypal or a credit card where at least you have some recourse. |
Unfortunately, the breeder does not do Paypal, and my friend does not have a Paypal account. I just don't know what to tell her. She really loves this puppy. She contacted the breeder's references and vet and was pleased. She has spoken to the breeder several times. Pam |

would she be able to have someone on here go check out the puppies just to be on the safe side? I'm just so suspicious of this stuff as I had many scammers trying to sell me a puppy back when I got Zoe. Once I said I wanted my cousin to pick up the dog or a friend they all got funny like one of them I told I wasn't comfortable sending western union but my cousin lived near them and I was going to give her the cash and have her pick up the pup and they said they don't do that, only western union. Yeah, right. Like I ever would've gotten a pup at all..... Maybe someone on here has already dealt with the breeder. Why don't you post the name and see.... |

I haven't personally used Puppy Escrow but I hear good things. I hope it all works out. |

Sorry girls ( including one of my friends and a client ( you know who you are ) But Puppyescrow is not a 100% safe or good way to do either as they have been known to get funds from a buyer and tell the seller they never got it - I know this for a fact - I took their legal contract to my lawyer just recently when a lady that is now waiting on her baby asked about it and my lawyer told me to stay away from it - Use only Pay pal and you won't have problems usually when they ask you to use western union or wire transfer it is a SCAM!! |

Walmart super centers have a good program in place with Money grams. I have used it to recieve puppy money and send puppy money. But it is the only one I trust and again, you have to know who you are dealing with. |
:wavey: neighbor Pam! Were this my decision....I would chose electronic wire transfer but only from my bank to her bank...not a cash outlet. Western Union would be considered a cash outlet. There's probably others. Electronic transfer from her bank to the seller's would leave a detailed paper trail. The seller would've had to provide identification to open the account plus the buyer would have the seller's bank's routing number along with her account number. If you are ever awarded a judgement against another individual...in order to collect if you aren't paid...you need to have the banking information. I really don't find it alarming that the seller doesn't accept paypal...and most who do probably don't have any problem with it...but I can imagine the possibilities. Get the funds...ship puppy and then a charge back appears on your account. Not to mention the service fees... |

I think that is what she will do. She's going to double check with her bank to see how it all works. |

I will say...if the seller objects to this method..then I would be highly suspicious. There aren't any fees to receive an ETF, there aren't any questions on funds and the deposit usually takes a day to show up in your account. |
