I called them to follow up just now and the car was gone before they got there, but they will still call on them and bring it to their attention that it was reported. I asked the officer there what the best thing to do is, that I felt like I needed to do more, no matter who I call, the little dog was still baking in the car......and he said that's all you can do. If you open the window (by breaking it of course) you will be sued for property damage....... I emailed our local newspaper and asked for them to run a reminder in the newspaper to let people know the danger. Even if one owner learns something from it, it would be worth it.......... this and puppy mills, tear my wittle heart out :( |
Last year, they had a poor little puppy left in a hot car, here. Someone went inside the store and reported it. (Sorry, it wasn't me) Another couple found him and the husband was headed into the store when I came out. They ended up breaking out the window to rescue the dog. I don't know what happened to the owners.. I did not stick around long enough to find out. I had my grandchildren with me and it was too hot to stand around. You did a great job in reporting that poor puppy. Maybe allert the store too. I am going to look up that site and copy off some of those papers. I just fume when I see some poor helpless animal or child left in a hot car. And I do march myself right back into the store and report it. |

:mad:I think some of the people that go into stores are more of a health hazard than a dog. But thats just my opinion. |

I read a post here earlier about this woman whos 1 pound dog was yanked up by its collar by a stranger, to be untangled from beneath a chair... and when confronted about his actions, stated the dog needed "toughening up." why would you treat a dog like this?? There are just people who are so far behind in the times. It is sad. I am talking about those people who think dogs should only live outside chained up in a dog house, if they are lucky enough to get that. The people who laugh at anyone who has an "inside dog" and grimice in disgust at the thought of a dog being on the couch or god forbid, wearing clothes to keep them warm in the winter!! Some people act like dogs are rats or cochroaches something. Its honestly disgusting. There are SO MANY PEOPLE LIKE THIS.. people who were raised to think of animals as beneath us & not worthy of kindness. People who smack around dogs and cats and just... ugh... too much. That woman that got up in your face is probably one of those people. Seeing your dog INSIDE AN ESTABLISHMENT probably disgusted her. Why else would she be so harsh? I dont get people like that. I had a one pound puppy in my arms in the mall one time when i was younger, and this salesgirl got all up in my face about how id have to take the dog outside... she was so mean & condescending. I really dont get why small dogs or well behaved dogs cant be allowed in public. ALLERGIES YOU SAY? but youre letting in the seeing eye dog, so that cant be the reason... Maybe if we were able to have our dogs take some kind of PUBLIC ACESSS test, where they are tested tos ee if they will harm strangers etc... and if we pass it we can then take our dogs out in public, with their "access pass." I think this would be more democratic. But man, i'm in my twenties and I doubt i'll ever see the day :( |

I am so happy when people save a life:yay_jump: |
How sad...but I'm happy you were there to save the pup. I have had the same situation and thankfully I keep the number to the sheriff's department in my wallet. :) But I will definitely be printing some papers off. I am also going to print off some ''teacup" papers...that way when someone asks me if she is a teacup I can hand them some info on the myth of a teacup. :) When I had my yorkie people would tell me that and I would say..." no she's a yorkie." I take my BF's chihuahua everywhere here. But I have a few doggie purses to use when I get my yorkie :) Out of sight out of mind...hehehe |
arrest them what about going into walmart and request announcing on the loud speaker.. would the owners of the dog locked in the car please report to the parking lot now.. your dog is dying or dead..:animal-pa |
I was going to get my hair cut. I had my grandkids with me and I picked up Caesar just as I went out the door, because he wanted to go bye-bye. I didn't realize there'd be a problem, because I'd taken him in before. I walked in the door with Caesar in my arms, the kids went to look at the magazines. One of the beauticians came up and told me I couldn't bring him, because the management was cracking down on them. I said come on kids lets go. This woman said "aren't you going to get your hair cut?" I said no because I had my dog with me and she didn't want it there. She told me I could leave him in the car  I said lady it's hot out. She said to leave the window rolled down. I just took Caesar and the kids and left. Don't they have good sense? |

Had I not have been on my lunch break from work, I would have....sadly, I was already late getting back....... |
I see a lot of dogs around here being left in the car when its hot. I notice because they sit and bark when I walk by. I didnt realize you could complain about it. Next time I see one..... Aside from the places that wouldnt let me in, heres a few places I was happily welcomed carrying Triss: My hairdresser, Rural King, a jewelry store, my bank, pet stores, gas stations, and Buffalo Wild Wings even let me sit at an outside table with her on my lap. The waiter came outside to take my order and everything. And.... I snuck her into Walmart a few times in the doggie purse, where she just sleeps. |
Sometimes the workers do not have much choice.. their bosses have told them no animals or else they will be fired. So I guess I can understand if they ask politely. saying they are really sorry but the management has told them that they can not have animals in their store. I may not agree with their choice but I can understand it. Unfortunately, some pet owners are not like all of the wonderful people here on YT. They do not care if their pet distroys the store ( or sometimes their skin-child) And that ruins it for all of us. There are a lot of times I would love to take my furbabies with me, but I can't, because I refuse to leave them in the car.. while I run in anywhere, So I make special trips with them to stores they are allowed into. I like the idea of the pet purse.. But I have 3 babies.. and they would not all fit in one. |
so so sad...but what is even worse, when I see people that leave their infants in the car. I saw a baby that was at most 3 weeks old in her car seat whaling away in the completly sealed up car. My husband was on the phone calling the cops as it was 105 at the time (yay CA summers and being so close to the desert) when the parents walked out. I don't see how ANYONE can leave ANY living being in a car like that. It makes me livid. I do have to say thanks to that link though, as I will be printing and carrying them in my car. |
