Second hand compliment I guess is better than none. I had Buddy to the vet last month for his yearly. The vet said his teeth are looking good. I was very pleased. I talked to my daughter, we use the same vet, this morning and she took my grandpup(pug, Harley) for his yearly yesterday. The vet told her that Buddy was in and in all his years of practice has never seen a dog with such white teeth. He was amazed and wondered what I was doing! Hello, why didn't he ask me? I would have gladly told him so he could pass it on to his clients. I find that annoying that he didn't tell me that. Well for those of you who are using Petzlife and brushing keep up the good work and for those of you who are hesitant start because it really pays off.:D |
At least you got the compliment so you know how well you are doing! But the vet really should have told you he was so pleased! Out of curiosity, how young should they be when you start brushing? Scooter is 16 weeks and his mouth is so small I don't think I could get a brush or my finger in there! |

I have read on here where owner's have used a piece of gauge to clean the little one's teeth so they get use to having the hand in their mouth. Good idea to start now. It's another chore to do but believe me it will save you $$ down the road. |

Carol, think of it this way..... If you had told your vet what you were doing, then he would have been obligated to share the information with his other clients and just think how much $$ he would lose on teeth cleanings. :D But on a more serious side, I know how frustrating it is to work so hard to keep your pups healthy and to have your praise come second hand. :thumbup: to you for taking such good care of Buddy! |

Carol what a great job you are doing on Archie's teeth.:D I just started Izzy on the Petzlife gel and spray and she is tiny and I do use a piece of gauze wrapped around my finger and massage her teeth and gums. I tried the baby toothbrush the rubber fingers and they were all too big for her little mouth. My finger works perfectly and in the beginning she would fuss but if you are consistant and do it every night they get used to it..trust me...now Izzy doesn't fight me anymore and it's only been a few days.:D I tell her like I used to tell my son when he was little...you'll thank me when you get older..hahaha...that she won't have to get dental work done.:eek: |
