Need More Prayers For Maggy May I just checked Maggy's incision this morning, like 5 minutes ago. It looks like it's OPEN!!! She has drainage coming out of it. I am waiting on the vet to call me back, they open at 7:30 (20 minutes) and I'm praying like crazy they can see her RIGHT NOW! Prayers would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, I'll update when we get back. |
Good thing you were home to catch that. Ellie had problems with her incision too (it didn't open though). I hope she doesn't need surgery again.:( |
sending prayers for your darling maggie to be ok..I know that is a scary moment when you see something like this.. please update us..anne |
I just got off the phone with the vet, the doc won't be in until 9 today and their first available appointment is at 10:00, I told them I'd take it, schedual her for it. God I'm so shook up!! Her incission (sp) was just fine yesterday when I checked it. She can't get to it to lick it cause I've had her onesie on her the whole time. The only thing I can think of that may have caused it to come open is, my niece came over last night, Maggy adores her and gets so excited when she sees her. I put her in her kennel when she came in the back door and went out of the bedroom hoping Maggy would stay calm, but she heard her voice and then I heard Maggy start whining for her. I came in the bedroom and she was all excited and wiggles and jiggles and jumped up in her kennel. I hurried and grabbed her out and had my niece to sit down on the floor so Maggy would calm down, she did, but now I'm wondering if that's when it split open. It's the top layer that is open. The doc told me there's layers of stitches under the skin and he used surgical glue on the outside layer. God I hope she doesn't have to go back in for surgery, I'm so scared. I need to calm down, for Maggy, I think I'm scaring her. She's sitting here in my lap and was shivering. I have a blanket on her. She eats and drinks fine and her poo is getting thicker since she's been eating her hard kibble. I hope they give her antibiotics, I don't want it to get infected. God I'm so scared. |

I know, easy for me to say. Since it looks like just the top layer, maybe they can reglue it without anesthesia. Too much activity could've caused it, but every dog and every incision is different. Ellie jumped down about 2.5 or 3 feet off of a hard surface a day or two after her spay and she was fine, so it is hard to say. |
1 Attachment(s) I just had my son to hold Maggy May so I could take a picture of her incision, by the looks of it, do you think she'll have to have surgery again? I don't want her to have to go back under again. Do you think they'll be able to just clean it up and put more surgical glue on it? I left the picture so big so you can see it good. |
Well, that does not look good at all. I have no idea how to tell if it is serious or what will have to be done. It might need to be cleaned, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had to put her under but I can't say for sure. I wonder why the vet used glue instead of stitches. It isn't unheard of but evidentally glue doesn't hold very well.:( |

Oh my gosh, Tracy! I am so sorry that this is happening. I am definitely sending prayers Maggy May's way and also for you! I don't have any experience at all yet with this, so I just don't know if it looks bad or not. If this is a trusted vet, I am sure that he would not have you wait until 10:00 if he felt that Maggy May was in danger. ??? Gosh...this is so hard...its so yucky to feel helpless when we can't help our kids (fur or skin). We're all here with you and we will all be waiting with you to watch over Maggy May. Carrie |

I am praying and waiting for update |
Well, I ended up leaving for the vet early and they seen us a half hour early. They were able to clean Maggy May up and use surgical glue to close her back up. They said it looks good though, it doesn't show any signs of infection, just make sure to keep it clean and dry. So, we're back home and I made her go in her kennel and lay down for a bit, I don't want that incision coming back open at all. I don't think she's gonna like me much for the next few days cause I'm not planning on letting her get up and do to much at all till I know that incision is HEALED!! And I'll not be taking anymore visitors either until I know she's healed up. Good Lord she'd scared me!! Thank you all so much for the prayers, I appreciate it so much. I'm off to give her/ her pain med, I'll update later on how she's doing. |
Sending special prayers for little Maggy May. I just know she'll be ok. |
Thank god she's okay. And hoping she heals completely this time. Sending prayers and well wishes. |

so glad to hear she is fine now... |
Glad shes ok! :) I had problems with surgical glue when my son split his lip open. They used that instead of stiches. Well, the glue came off in 3 hours and I had to take him back to the ER. |

Oh, I'm so glad for you and Maggy! How SCARY! I would have been freaked out too if that happened. It did look nice and clean though, and that's the important thing. Did they say why it opened up? Madison had surgical glue on his incision when he was neutered and he was running that night and jumping the next morning and it held without a problem:confused:. |
It is good you caught it so soon. My Mandy opened up all the way and it was over 3000.00 to save her. She is worth every penny. They had to clean her intestines that actually fell out. I no longer get disolving stitches. For Chelsey I paid extra to stronger stitches. I think I held her for two days. |
That must have been scary for you to see. Poor Maggy May. I am relieved to read that she is now home from the vet and doing well. I guess you will just have to keep her as quiet as possible for the next couple of days. That sounds like a real challange and good luck. I wish her a speedy recovery. |
So happy she is going to be ok! :) |
Poor Maggy:( I'm glad you were able to take her to the vet and get her in early and doc said things should be ok :) Hopefully animals are like humans and heal from the inside first, so this isn't as bad as it may look :) Hugs to you Tracy and sweet gentle head rubs (not belly this time!) to little Miss Maggy May. :) My brother has a puggle and her name is Maggy May too :) It always reminds me of the Rod Stewart song Maggie, I love that song! :) |
We posted about the same time. I'm glad Maggy May is ok. I thought she probably would be. |
