Need More Prayers For Maggy May I just checked Maggy's incision this morning, like 5 minutes ago. It looks like it's OPEN!!! She has drainage coming out of it. I am waiting on the vet to call me back, they open at 7:30 (20 minutes) and I'm praying like crazy they can see her RIGHT NOW! Prayers would be appreciated! Thanks in advance, I'll update when we get back. |
Good thing you were home to catch that. Ellie had problems with her incision too (it didn't open though). I hope she doesn't need surgery again.:( |
sending prayers for your darling maggie to be ok..I know that is a scary moment when you see something like this.. please update us..anne |
I just got off the phone with the vet, the doc won't be in until 9 today and their first available appointment is at 10:00, I told them I'd take it, schedual her for it. God I'm so shook up!! Her incission (sp) was just fine yesterday when I checked it. She can't get to it to lick it cause I've had her onesie on her the whole time. The only thing I can think of that may have caused it to come open is, my niece came over last night, Maggy adores her and gets so excited when she sees her. I put her in her kennel when she came in the back door and went out of the bedroom hoping Maggy would stay calm, but she heard her voice and then I heard Maggy start whining for her. I came in the bedroom and she was all excited and wiggles and jiggles and jumped up in her kennel. I hurried and grabbed her out and had my niece to sit down on the floor so Maggy would calm down, she did, but now I'm wondering if that's when it split open. It's the top layer that is open. The doc told me there's layers of stitches under the skin and he used surgical glue on the outside layer. God I hope she doesn't have to go back in for surgery, I'm so scared. I need to calm down, for Maggy, I think I'm scaring her. She's sitting here in my lap and was shivering. I have a blanket on her. She eats and drinks fine and her poo is getting thicker since she's been eating her hard kibble. I hope they give her antibiotics, I don't want it to get infected. God I'm so scared. |

I know, easy for me to say. Since it looks like just the top layer, maybe they can reglue it without anesthesia. Too much activity could've caused it, but every dog and every incision is different. Ellie jumped down about 2.5 or 3 feet off of a hard surface a day or two after her spay and she was fine, so it is hard to say. |
1 Attachment(s) I just had my son to hold Maggy May so I could take a picture of her incision, by the looks of it, do you think she'll have to have surgery again? I don't want her to have to go back under again. Do you think they'll be able to just clean it up and put more surgical glue on it? I left the picture so big so you can see it good. |
Well, that does not look good at all. I have no idea how to tell if it is serious or what will have to be done. It might need to be cleaned, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had to put her under but I can't say for sure. I wonder why the vet used glue instead of stitches. It isn't unheard of but evidentally glue doesn't hold very well.:( |

Oh my gosh, Tracy! I am so sorry that this is happening. I am definitely sending prayers Maggy May's way and also for you! I don't have any experience at all yet with this, so I just don't know if it looks bad or not. If this is a trusted vet, I am sure that he would not have you wait until 10:00 if he felt that Maggy May was in danger. ??? Gosh...this is so hard...its so yucky to feel helpless when we can't help our kids (fur or skin). We're all here with you and we will all be waiting with you to watch over Maggy May. Carrie |
