I agree with everyone !! on the one hand u would love to get another but on the other and would it spoil things and would 2 be beter or worse ??. I have an 8 month old girl , no probs house training she doesnt trash the house when we work and is reall delightful, we did try intoducing a rescue this week to her but it was hate at first sight (the recue that is ) poor kins did nt know what ha hit her !! Let them get on with it they will be fine i was told !! would u let upr precious baby run scared and get bitten till she submits or the other dog gets used to her ?? I dont think so so we left it, sophie hid behind me and wanted to be picked up.... she must have know she s been even more loving since and plays constantly with her new soft penguin i had to buy her that day !! so I think we will leaveit for now and just enjoy what we have . |
OMG....I say go ahead and get another one b/c its true you cant have just one......BUT i must caution you..STOP at two or you end up with a bunch of cute puppy eye dogs running your household and your asking yourself how the heck did it happen....hehehe....I have three and I want one more...b/c we just gave up our 3 mth girl b/c she was promised so when we move to our house...I am on the look out for another girl.... |
I got my second one (Suzi) yesterday. Katie thinks she's wonderful and they get on really well. They are definitely company for each other. Hugs Shirl x x |
I've always had one Yorkie except when I was very young and I bred them. That was many years ago before the breed became so popular in the U.S. As you can tell from this post - I am a senior (64). Everytime I look at pictures of puppies and rescues, I remind myself how much work and care I put into one fuzzball. The mind might want more, but the body says stick with one. :animal-pa |

Believe me, it isn't easy. It has been in the back of my mind for two years to get another but to be very honest, I think back to when I did get Buddy and how very hard it was to go to work and raise a puppy. He also went threw every stage possible that a puppy can go threw. Food aggression, toy aggression, bed aggresson, aggression towards large dogs, etc, etc. It took lot's of training and I read everything I could get my hands on. I feel that I personally know Ceaser Millan:p He was a challange and I was not going to give up. Today he is the most loving dog I have ever had and is so obedient. We are bonded and understand each other completely. I love him so very much. I look at him daily and think how in the world did I make it raising this little devil! Some are calm, cool and collected and some are a challange. He potty trained immediately which I am extremely grateful for. Even to get an older one, which is always in my mind, I am so afraid of breaking the bond between us. He loves small dogs. I also have to walk him in the winters threw ice and snow. It hard at night so to walk two might be too hard. Also, expenses. I want to be sure I can afford what may lie ahead in the future and to have double the expenses may be hard since I am getting closer to retirement. I want to make sure Buddy has the best of everything and having only one secures that. I guess that's my age taking over. Worrying about tomorrow. I love looking at all the new arrivals and do envy those who get them. Then I think back and shudder. LOL It brings me back to reality. So it's Bud and I. I feel blessed to have found this beautiful campanion. He's my little man. |
I really want another one but the hubby says no. He reminds me of what we had to go through to get this one trained. |
I had Bob for two years as a only house dog. I always wanted to get him a friend after one year because I have to work and I hate leaving him alone. Finally after searching and looking for a year or so I got Marley about a month ago. I dont regret a single thing. Bob isnt all that interested yet but he does seem calmer. I cried the first night I got Marley because Bob seemed to ignore me and it broke my heart that he might be hurt. I dont think so now. He seems to *know* that Marley needs some special time and that Bob will always have the *most specialist* place in Mommys heart forever. And now after having Marley for a month, I think I really might like to have one more rescue. Marley is not housebroke at all and Im dealing with that right now. Soon as I get that under control I will continue to work on my husband about another Yorkie! lol... :animal36 |
I want another one so bad I can't stand it!!!!!!!! I love Mufasa sooooooooooooooo much and I want another one just like him!!!!! lol He has brought so much LOVE and JOY to our family my heart almost bursts with all the love!!!!! My husband bought Mufasa so I'm sure I will have to pay for the next one (there WILL be a next one) but it may take me a while to save up the hundreds of a dollars I need to get one. Do you know how much that is KILLING ME????? lol |
well my bf bought me abby about 4 months ago almost. i cant explain how much i love her. she is only 6 months old but she thinks shes 5 lol. anyway i want another one sooo bad. my bf is getting "LIttle Bit's" Jack in about 3 weeks. i am sooooooooooooooooo thrilledddddddd. i cant wait for abby to have an older brother to protect her. AHhhhhh im in loveee |
I got Kalina in June of '07 and then I got Matty in December of '07. They were immediate friends. Kalina still crys when I hold Matty - not because she's jealous but because she wants me to put Matty down to play. I'm going to definately have a third one some day. :) |

i want a boy but right now isnt a good time with work and all so martini gets all our undivided attention and as soon its a good time i am so gettin a boy lol |
I have had one yorkie for four months, and the only thing holding me back from getting another one is lack of space. We rent a one bedroom apartment and already have two cats and a dog. I did however make my husband agree to let me get another one as soon as we get a house! (Although I would prefer to get two more :D ) |

You say you already have a dog - what kind?? I have Yorkie, Poodle and Bichon. By the way, hello !!!:) |
Within a few days of having Miko, we wanted another one!! They are so addictive :) But Miko ended up being very sick, and he needed a lot of attention. We wanted him to be the only one for awhile. It took us over two years to finally get another furbaby. We got a maltese. They are very sweet babies too! |
I had been thinking very seriously about adding another Yorkie, until this week. I am babysitting my son's Maltese, and although they get along very well, it really cuts down on one to one time with Joey. I love our morning training sessions, but you almost have to crate one dog while you are training the other, at least until the other dog is trained. So this week no real training is taking place, just organized chaos. I guess I would miss the special one to one time we have, and I'm not ready to share this yet. |
When Gus had a playmate, they played very rough together: zooming all over DD's apartment, including on top of the furniture, gang banging the cat when she was in heat, stealing each other's toys and treats, and on and on. I thought it would be best for him to be an only child for a bit since he came home with me. I might consider a playmate for him someday, but I think I'd only do that if I can ever get my yard fenced in so that they really have some room to run around. (I have a house with small rooms, but I have a huge yard - great for play but very expensive to fence in.) |
I wanted to get another after a week of having Bella. But I am holding off until I am finished with Grad school. Or rather I keep telling myself that. I told my best friend that I want to have 5 and she laughed because she thought I was joking, but I was dead serious. :D I'm addicted now and I need my fix.;) |
We had Lily for about 10 months before we thought about getting #2 Lily is a yorkie mix and was sick and had surgery so she demanded a lot of attention. As soon as she was all well we immediately started thinking about #2 because we really wanted her to have a play mate, and we wanted a purebred Yorkie. We have had Kingston about 7 weeks now and we love it they are already the best of friends and he is a great baby, Lily is so much happier having a play mate. |

My Yorkie Katie is obviously happier with her little pal Suzi. We've only had Suzi a few days but the difference in Katie is a pleasure to watch. Hugs Shirl x x :animal-pa |
Our Buddy is the center of our home and we ALL love him so much!!! We decided that we needed another Yorkie and I spent months searching for the perfect little one for us. When I finally found her we were all so happy when I brought her home.....everyone was happy but Buddy!!!! Once Buddy realized that Lucy was here to stay ....he became so depressed and hid all the time. He would not eat or play with his toys. It completely broke our heart how sad Buddy was. We eventually found the most perfect home in the world for Lucy. Another YT member has her....Lucy is very, very happy with her mom, Belinda!!! So as much as I would love to have another Yorkie....I'd rather keep our Buddy happy. Some Yorkies are meant to be an "only child"!!! lol But I am so jealous of those that have more than one Yorkie!!!! |
GiGI is an only yorkie child but I have a 12 year old husky. I considered getting another one but I have decided to wait and getting a dog for the kids!! GiGi is my baby, almost my daughter. My youngest loves her but she is mine. I figure we would get a westie or soft coated wheaten. My older son wants an American Bulldog!!! |
Derby is my main little man.....I love him so so so much. I never thought I would want another but guess what....we are getting him a baby brother and we are so excited. He was supposed to come today but he got sick in the car on the way to the airport so it has been postponed.:( Poor lil guy. I love him already and I haven\'t even met him. So we are going from one to two pups in our home. I know I will love them both equally and he is going to be Derby\'s puppy. Maybe I\'m crazy but my pup is 8 months old and I think it is a great time to integrate a second. There is nothing quite like warm puppy kisses first thing in the morning. :animal36:animal36 |
We just got our precious one a week ago, but we are definitely wanting to expand much later! We want to spend as much time spoiling our little Bailey right now! My husband was used to rather large breeds, ie: pit bulls, etc., and now he is absolutely in love with and addicted to Yorkies!! :D |
:aimeeyork I have had my Suzi for nearly three months . I am crazy about her. I want anther one too. However, Suzi is my service dog .I thought of getting anther, and just rotating their outside time.... You know, getting anther pure bred Yorkie.... They look alike, and know one would ever know. LOL. I would be afraid I\'d get caught. :aimeeyork So right now, I can\'t have anther. :animal-pa |
I had decided to buy hubby a bassett hound for his b-day but he sd he would rather have a chihuahua so he would not worry so much about Gypsy being hurt by a bigger dog. So we are in the process of looking for a long hair chi. He would rather have a short hair male so if we do not get a long hair by mid Aug we will look for a short hair one. I would rather have another yorkie but can not afford one. The prices for a healthy one is so much. |
I have always been a one Yorkie person...and that will undoubtedly continue. I will always have a Yorkie...but only one at a time. I know that I would never be able to properly care for more then one. So getting another, and then another is simply out of the question. I know in my heart that Winston is spoiled beyond belief...well loved...gets the medical and grooming care that he needs, and I am perfectly content with that. I do admire those people that are able to foster or adopt rescues...but I am just not able financially to do so. |
