You actually design, make, and sell safety harness's for dogs!!!! That's pretty special....Anyone can sell a candle...but not everyone can design things like you do~ :)

you should say, at least i don't have to stand out in the street and beg for clients. or something to that affect. i also LOVE what buddy suggested. heck just hit her with all of em and shut her up!!!

That woman really boils my butt. We just like to make a beautiful dog even more beautiful. If how things look mean nothing to her then tell her to stop coloring her candles and just leave them all white!! and while she's at it take out the scent. Leave them all plain like she wants us to have our babies.Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Well, I am a hot headed Italian and I would have told her to 'blow it up her (?). Actually, you don't have to justify yourself to the candle pusher. I hate those parties, and rarely attentd. You always feel as if you are pressured into buying at least one outrageously priced item.
You make dog clothes because you enjoy it, it's income and we all want clothes!!!!

the nerve!! It's nobody's business if we like dressing our furbabies. She could have acted a little more civil than blasting you like that infront of people. The next time you see her, simply ignore her. Disrespectful people like that need not be given the time of day. You've done well as far as I'm concerned. You're doing something you love and she clearly is frustrated about low sales. :p

I also get this everytime I go to the craft store to get fabric, people ask me what am I making? I always get the wierdest looks, so I have started to lie or say I'm not sure yet.

Why do people think it is so wierd? It seems so common to me anymore. Heck, I even saw purse dog carriers on the shelves at Raley's last night, of all places. And Target has the cutest line of dog clothes.

I just don't get what the big deal is...


Ohhhh....how rude and mean! Never you mind... I just love your spring outfit in your avatar! When I get my yorkie...I'm gonna have you make her/him a snow outfit!

And just remember....blessed are those who require no anger management classes... :)

This way you are still be nice but also letting her know that you are catering to a highly sought out market - people who spend money.

Wow, that's crazy. Interesting that our yorkies and their habits and clothes, etc. are our world....so we forget that "outsiders" exist who may think we're strange! Never fear! Your support group (YT) is always here! We're on call 24/7! :p

Honestly, if I'm going to buy a candle, I'm going to buy a Yankee candle b/c you can't get any better than those (IMO!) http://www.yankeecandle.com/cgi-bin/ycbvp/retail.jsp

The only way I'd buy a candle from a lady like her, no offense, would be for pity/charity. But not after how she treated you, of course!

You should give her a YT business card and let her log on herself and see how popular you are - and see if she can sell us any candles, hmph, not a chance!

I have been half in tears and half laughing out loud at all of these posts! I am the luckiest person to be a member here! (I have not been able to get back on the internet until now because my DSL was acting up, so frustrating! What withdrawals!) I really appreciate all the positive comments. Sometimes YT feels like my own personal therapy group :D

Ok, This woman is crazy, And so are you because you should never feel embarassed about something that you like to do, are really good at, and you make money on top of everything else.. You never have to beg people to let you have a party at their house, so you can find people who feel they have to buy something!! All your clients willingly come to you and pay you good money for a great product.. There is nothing you should ever feel embarassed about.. Even Mrs. Fields had to start somewhere.. And do you think she ever felt embarassed, when stupid people said things like"
Gosh you sit home and bake cookies and then sell them!!!" SHe can be embarassed all the way to the bank..
You have a talent, kepp up the great work!!
