Hawks OMG  So Spanky generally goes potty on his pad. but sometime he wants to go mark the ivy on the front porch, ( he is fixed) we were out there it is enclosed for him specially so he wont run out but no roof, I always go with him and today i herd a swoosh and felt a breeze on the top of my head I look up and there it was a huge Hawk swooping down after Spanky I was sooo scared I screamed and lounged for him he was 2 maybe 3 feet in front of me and the hawk took off. after it was over i figured the hawak must have been on my roof the whole time. Spanky is only 3 1/2 lbs and as big as that hawk was i bet he could have picked up my baby I am so freaked out over this. anyway just wanted to share I think i will have hubby build me a roof for the front patio. |
 OMG that is so scary! I'm always afraid of hawks swooping down...I never let Tetley outside alone. Thank God you were with him to save him. |
DAMN... That was a very close call for your little Spanky. I am very glad you were right there! This could have turned out tragic. where I live, I need to be careful about large owls. These things come out at dusk, and fly in the back of our complex. There is a field right there. AND it scares me that one could grab my Suzi in a flash. :aimeeyork I would not let Spanky out at all unless you are right there to supervise. Chances are high that the same Hawk will come back, and is not far away. |

Thank goodness Spanky is OK! |
oohhh!! i know what you mean i live on a pretty good sized lot and they are always flying around!! we used to have chickens here too so im sure they connect us with the chickens!! im just scared they are going to swoop down one day!! i havent had one come down yet but they circle in the air!! and at night we have owls here!! best wishes |
Oh man, I am glad your Spanky is okay! I keep telling my hubby that I am afraid of that very thing as we have turkey vultures here as well. I live somewhat in the country and we have all kinds of wildlife here. Hubby just say a family of wild turkeys walking across the road yesterday morning on his way to work. He said they were hissing at him! |
I'm glad to hear your little one is okay. :) |

WOW, what a close call. So glad that you were there. I would be telling hubby to build that roof now! And I would also go out first and check the yard before letting Spanky out! |
We have coyotes, hawks, owls and snakes...No one ever, ever goes out day or night alone...We do live in a new development and we did take over the wildlife's domain, so they are still around...The mountains are near us , but with all the people with all their pets around, I'msure they come here to get an easy meal....:eek::eek::eek: |
Wow! What a close call that was. Yes. A hawk can easily carry 3.5 lbs. I see them around here all of the time. I feel like my eyes are always on the sky. Sometimes I forget to watch the sky and happen to see them fly over. It's scary! I hate those things!:( |
omg i can't believe that and sorry that it had happen to you...that is what i am so scared of also...hehe |
Yikes! Thank goodness you were nearby! Scary thing is, hawks are not always scared of people. My parents had their 2 (at the time) out on their screened deck and a hawk flew THROUGH the screen after them with my dad right there. |
We have hawks too! Mine don't go out alone either....some folks have doggy doors and I cringe at the thought.. You can buy a plastic owl (competation) at hardware stores, I 've heard that helps.... Maybe a scarecrow for your yard would help (decorative for the season)... roxanne |
forgot... first I forgot how to spell "competition".. then I forgot to mention the "reba" show on TV and the story of the yorkie that "Killed the Hawk".... very cute...:rollingey roxanne |
