FUMING!! Why am I so upset?? OK guys, I just found this out and I am fuming mad. I don't know why I care so much, but can only imagine it's because I love our babies sooooo much. A girl at my work (really nice girl but still) is getting married next month. She has a 6 year old, he has a three year old. They will be moving in the next two months, and are currently renting from his cousin at this time. She is beyond stressed. They are having problems with his son, which is causing problems in the relationship. They are also very stressed financially and like I said are looking to buy a house and move after the wedding. She also wants to be pregnant the day after the wedding, right? OK, so she decided a week ago she wants a yorkie. She doesn't even like dogs, but "wants my own dog that will listen to me because no one else does." I tried to tell her about all the health problems. behavior problems, and such that comes with owning a yorkie. I tried to explain about reputable breeders, the dangers of owning a yorkie with little kids, and the trouble with potty training. Well she just got one. I don't know from where but I am assuming from the internet. It's a pound and a half and that's all I know. Why am I so angry? Why do I care so much? Sorry so long guys but I really, really needed to vent. I just love this breed so much and understand the time committment it takes raising one properly and all that. I won't even be able to pretend I am excited for her I don't think. What do I do? What do I do when she starts complaining about it in a few weeks or months? HELP!! (sorry so long!) |
I guess all you can do is be supportive.....and just maybe you will end up raising her yorkie! |
LOL, sorry, but if she wants a dog that "will listen to her because no one else does", I think she is in for a surprise. Maybe she should have opted for a Golden Retriever.;) |
When she told me that about wanting something to listen to her I DID laugh out loud! I tried to explain the whole terrier mentality and everything but nope, all she sees is a little toy.... She doesn't even like dogs- she doesn't even like Ranger!! |
I feel sorry for the little baby. It isn't very big. You have every right to be concerned and upset... but unfortunately... people don't always listen. Sounds like she is not thinking properly. Just jumping from one thing to another. Not a good time to add a puppy. She will probably run out of time for it too.. and give it to someone who knows what they are doing. Hopefully, after you have time to cool down a little, you can give her some ideas on how to properly raise the little one. For the puppies sake. Good luck to you. Wishing you happiness and peace of mind. You are angry because you care so much for Yorkies. You don't want that little baby to have to go through a rough time. Yorkie lovers are very passionate, loving, caring people. Who want the best for all Yorkies. |

Really? That is great. I have found someone close. Hopefully, this gal will want someone else to take her baby. If she does and you don't want it... let me now. I love Yorkies! |

I know it's upsetting, but you did your part. You tried to warn her of the huge committment. Sounds like she got this dog for all the wrong reasons, but hopefully she will suprise you and be a loving and attentive owner. I would advise you to be as supportive as possible, for the sake of this dog. Don't go out of your way, but if she has questions answer them to the best of your ability. It's easy to expect the worse, much harder to hope for the best, but that's really all you can do at this point. Fingers crossed that this baby has a long and happy life with its new family. |
why am I so upset??? I would be upset too, sounds as if she needs counseling more than her son. I worry about the yorkie being so tiny with small children. Wonder if it would help if you get her on YT to express her feelings about getting a yorkie and seeing how much time and love they require, BUT, maybe not, she would get it.:eek: |
Well, since she didn't seem to listen to you when you tried to tell her all the other stuff, maybe she'll actually listen when she needs some advice, perhaps be her mentor and maybe she'll actually start to understand the seriousness of being a Mom to a furkid. That's about all you can do now. |
