| lisabug | 12-31-2009 09:50 PM | My experience with Teresa Voqui - DO NOT BUY! It's too bad that I didn't come across this site sooner. Last summer of 2008, I was looking to purchase a Yorkie. All the breeders in my hometown were charging outrageous amounts for a puppy ($4,000+) so I opted to look online. I came across YorkieCuties.com and fell in love with a puppy named "Leo". I emailed to inquire about the puppy and got a response from someone named "Teresa Voqui". At first I was hestitant to purchase the puppy from her since I was buying from someone whom I had never met but after several emails back and forth, I felt in my gut that she was a genuine seller so I went ahead with the sale. The sale went smoothly and I received little Leo about a week later. Within a few days I took him to the vet to get him checked out as she had encouraged on her website, and turns out they found ear mites in his ear that was causing him severe pain. The vet explained that ear mites are most common in puppies that come from mass breeding. A vet bill of $250 later, I figured problem solved. Not so much. Since then my little baby has gone through all sorts of problems but thankfully seems to be healthy now - 1.5 years later. However, I've spent almost $1,000 in vet bills to date. Not to mention, I paid $2,500 to get little Leo in the first place. I tried contacting Teresa after the initial ear mite situation but of course I never got a response to my emails and after trying to search her website, I noticed that it got shut down. It's a lesson learned for me but I want to warn everyone before purchasing a puppy to be very cautious and do your research! Learn from my mistake!! |
