Yesterday I saw a guy walking 2 very little yorkies ( 2yrs old and 3.5 lbs) and of course i had to stop :) So I said aww they are sooooo little are they still puppies and he said NO THEY ARE TEACUPS...I said wow, reallly...I have a yorkie too, she is 13 lbs and boyyyyyyy that guy gave me a look like I just told him I walk an elephant...I had to walk away because I almost went into my NO SUCH THING AS TEACUPS RANT! LOL! Imagine....Sammi weighed more than his 2 girls but together...OINK OINK! GOOO TEAPOTS! :) |
Over here, I rarely hear the term "teacup". What is used here is "mini". And they cost about 3oo euro more than a "regular" yorkie. I get asked a lot if Oliver is a mini. Brooke |
Fran, I commend you for your restraint, and I love Sammi. Your avatar is one of my favorites. |

That is a great story! LMAO!! |
I have a similar story. Loki and I were at a local pet boutique looking for a sweatshirt for winter. Another customer had a 1 pound 3 month old Yorkie she was showing off, telling everyone how she got it at PetLand - a pet store (that we should all boycott...) Anyway, we finally got our turn to pay and the OWNER of this store supposedly dedicated to small dogs asks me "Oh, what kind of mix is he?" Loki is just under 8 pounds. I just gave him a evil stare and said, "He's a purebred Yorkie." The guy said he was so used to seeing teacups he didn't realize Yorkies could be so big. (BIG??!!) I wanted to launch into my "There's no such thing as a teacup" speech, but I didn't want to embarrass my husband who was with us. Later he told me I should have said something!! |
OOOPS!!!! Duncan is a teapot. Almost 6 months and he is already 11lbs. Now I have response for the people that tell me he is not a yorkie because he is too big. |
