1 Attachment(s) We drove 4 hours to get Bandit and I took a blanket with me for him to cuddle in....he layed that way for a little bit but he decided sitting behind my shoulder or head was better for him....lol I attached a picture of him on the ride home. He still loves riding in the car this way. Bandit cried a little for the first hour but he got used to it...ever little noise scared him though so I suggest keeping the windows closed. Good luck!! |
awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww Im soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited for you!!!! I hope everything goes smoothly for you and your baby! I would bring a blankie and whatever else you think you might need... ;) good luck! |
We were fortunate that we were able to meet at our vet's office, which is only 45 minutes from our home. Once I held her in my arms, I couldn't put her down! That must have been the reason that Ava told us that they are little "velcro" dogs! She was stuck to me and I thought that's where she wanted to sleep! Poor baby! :p I had a car full of "things" but wound up with a little sherpa bed & blankie on my lap and Toto in my arms ... she liked cuddling next to my heart ... still does! ;) Patrick nor I could keep our eyes off her ... he drove like a drunk man on the way home! :D Just kept saying "just look at her ... she doesn't look real!" :) Good luck, regardless of where your baby rides! I am looking forward to hearing all about her. |

We had an over 4 hour drive home when we picked up Mia. I had blankets and some toys with us. Make sure you have a pee pad or an extra blanket. She ended up having a couple accidents on the way home. For the majority of the trip home she was sound asleep. It only took her about 30 min. to calm down. |
Thanks for All of the suggestions. I want to be prepared for our ride home from the breeders. I will bring her pet taxi just in case. I will also bring extra towels too. I also have two blankets to get her mom's sent on so that should help her out too, that helped Jeter his first few nights home with us, so hopefully this will also help Yumi Yasha. I am so excited to be planning for my little girl to come home and I want her to be comfortable on the ride home, I hope she is a sleep for most of it;) |
I also had a 4.5 hour drive when I got lexi. My mom drove me down there that way I could hold her on the way back. They have less chance of getting sick if they are close to you because you are countering most of the bumps and such. I brought two dry towels (for any accidents) and I put one washcloth in a plastic bag with water (in case she got sick). I also had her water bowl and a bottle of water in case I thought she was getting thirsty. she was scared because she didnt know me yet, so she sat very still and slept most of the way home. we made two potty stops, but she never went potty. she also never got sick or whined. I have heard that the backseat can make them more prone to car sickness though. congrats on your new baby! i hope everything goes smoothly! |
I would take a small crate (with bedding) in case she is scared. It might feel safe for her. Alcohol free baby wipes for any accidents or sickness. plastic bags to put stinky stuff in. Paper towels (for larger messes than the wipes) small water bowl, bottle of water, harness and leash to walk her at stops, Extra bedding (towels work great) incase the other gets soiled. toy or chew stick Hopefully the breeder will send you with some of the food she is now eating May car is permanently supplied with bottled water, a small metal bowl, Nutrical, and wipes. You can usually find a toy under a seat too. |

Congrats on the new puppy. I always prepare for carsickness--like a change of clothes for me. Blanket for your lap is really important. |
