| What anesthesia to not use? Does anyone remember what you are not suppose to put a yorkie to sleep with when having surgery? I assume my vet knows but I want to 'remind' him tomorrow. Lily goes in to be spayed tomorrow. Not looking forward to this.

| You want Isofloryn (not sure of spelling). It's a gas vs. an IV. From what I have heard you don't want an IV for small dogs. With the gas you can take the mask off and wake them quickly if there is a problem. there was a better explaination posted a while back. I will look for it. How old is your pup and how much does she weigh? I don't look forward to this either...we will be thinking of you and your Lily tomorrow. |

| Here it is: Isofluorane is more expensive than the barbituate-based ones and requires newer technologies. Isofluorane does not put the dog as far "under" and recovery is much quicker (and hence, safer). http://www.bcrescue.org/anesthesia.html Good luck little Lily!
