Hi, I've been lurking around here for a little while, trying to find my way around and absorb as much info as I can and I'd like to introduce myself and jump in.

I can't believe what a sweet group of people you are here!

We are bringing home our very first yorkie baby at the end of July (AWWWW so long to wait it seems!). I am trying to learn everything that I need to know before she comes home. I am terrified of not knowing "enough"...lol.

I think I've read just about every post here...seriously. My husband and I have laughed over the adorable videos of puppies who walk on their front legs (so funny!) and cried over the sad posts about rescue babies with disabled hind legs (but strong little persevering hearts). I've seen yorkie births and wild birthday parties. I've read about princesses being evicted by kitties and stomping out...taking their blankies with them "thank you very much!". :D I've learned about Biewers (still not sure how to pronounce that though) and Parti. And I know how to get gum out of hair now (phew! hopefully I'll NEVER need to use that). So much here to learn from! Amazing!

I can not tell you how this breed has taken hold of my heart. The more I learn about them, the more I realize just how much these little babies are like human beings with little attitudes and everything! I have always been an animal lover (rescuing drowning ants and fallen baby birds from as young as I can remember), but these little Yorkies just take the cake. Incredible!

Anyway, I am excited to be here. I can't wait until our little girl comes home. I uploaded some photos of her (from her sweetheart of a breeder). She doesn't have a name yet, though. I just can't "see" her personality yet. I keep hoping it will just come to me. I keep saying things like "Oh...look at our adorable little....ummm...our very own little....uhhhh...." Its just not there yet. Am I a bad mom already, for not knowing her name yet?

Oh, my goodness! I just went to your profile page and checked out your album. Oh, your little girl is soooo cute! Man, I'm going to have to stop myself once more from wanting to go get another baby. Can't handle more than four with 2 being seniors. Oh, puppy breath!

I found Yorkietalk before I found my puppy, and it really convinced me that yorkies were the breed for me. I raised two skin babies and had plenty of dogs in the past, but I was looking for a new baby, and Joey was the perfect dog for me. They're so smart, loving, and playful. Congratulations on getting your new baby. Hope you get some sleep before she gets here cause the first couple of months can be pretty rough (small bladders). I agree with you about the name, sometimes it best if wait until you find what suits them.

BTW, how in the heck DO you pronounce "Biewer"? Anyone? Ill admit to knowing that word for a very very long time, but just calling them "the white yorkies"...

I'm so glad you joined, I look forward to getting to watch your furbaby grow up online and hear all the wonderful stories I know you'll be sharing with us:D Nope, your not a bad Momma at all, I'm the same way you are, I have to see their personality before I can name them, lol. You'll know when you have the right name, a light bulb will go off in your head and all the sudden you'll just KNOW that's the name your lil one was meant to have!

I found YT while I did research online and visited a few times to read and look at pic's before I got my :aimeeyork .... and after the worst part was over with her I joined this group ... :)

I know what you mean, Nancy. I did a TON of research online before I finally made the decision, but when I found Yorkie Talk, I finally felt like I wasn't quite so nervous about my decision. For a newbie to the breed, it really is quite difficult to get the real picture about the dedication and knowledge that you need to have to be a momma to one of these little babies. YT really gives you that full picture.

Thanks! What a weird way to pronounce it, but I guess being german and all it makes sense to pronounce it that way.

...and you are right! I am TOTALLY obsessed now! I just can not get enough info. The thing I am trying to learn about right now is potty training. I am so worried that I am going to mess that up. She won't be coming home until she is 16 weeks. Is that too long to start potty training?

oh gosh, your sooo cute! :) Im so glad you are learning so much! Many of us wish we were more educated before we bought our pups, but we learn as we go! Ive learned so much here also. Plus I get tons of people to oh and ah over my precious boys! hehe

You'll figure out your babys name soon enough! :) You are going to be a great mommy! I already can tell! :)

Welcome to YT - bring your sleeping bag and pack a BIG lunch - it's so hard to pull away from here for the silly things like work, dinner, potty breaks:D. It's good to know that I'm not the only one that rescues drowning bugs and swerves my car to miss frogs, wooly bears, butterflies and even gypsy moth caterpillers. I am constantly saving crickets and spiders at work. I have several wasp nests that need to be removed - I don't even have the heart to spray them. Do people just shake their head at you like they do me, lol? Anyway, so glad you and your little sweetie are here - she's adorable!

And you are so right about it being hard to pull away for dumb things like work...speaking of which, I better get my bootie in gear and get to work or there will be NO adorable dresses and extravegant beds for MY little girl...lol.

I am so glad that you found YorkieTalk. It sounds like you have been having fun reading posts. I love to go back and read the post -- especially some of the old old ones. I can asure you that you have a HUGE family just waiting to get to know you better.

Wecome to YT, I have never had a dog that I love as much as my Yorkie. Don't really consider her a dog at all, she is our baby. Can't wait to see yours.

Welcome! Your post is so cute and if you think you are hooked now, you just wait. It is impossible really to describe. I have had EVERY kind of dog you can imagine..If it was a dog we had growing up or the ones that lived at my Grandmas or just dogs Ive had through the years..But nothing..nothing in the world compares to Yorkie love!!

I know how excited you are about your little yorkie. I am leaving this weekend to go to NC to get my new first baby girl yorkie. I am naming her Dixie. I have purchased so many things for her, it is like having a real baby again. I feel so good about this breeder. I bought my two Bichon Frise sisters from him eight yrs ago. I have always loved small dogs and even though I wanted to wait a couple more years before getting a yorkie, I fell in love with a four pounder I saw a few months ago and just knew I could not wait any longer. I am 52 and my twin daughters are 19 and my son is 17 so my real babies are grown up and this may be my last baby. I want to make sure I outlive her! Someone told me about this site and I have been on here daily and have learned so many things and met so many nice people. I just put on pictures today on my little yorkie. The breeder sent them to me. She was born April 12 and these pictures were taken May 20. She will be 10 weeks old when I get her this weekend. I am elated! Good Luck to you, can't wait to hear more!!!!!!!!!!:)

Congratualtions on your little girl! I understand how torturous the wait can be. I found a breeder who was expecting a little on Jan. 5 and the puppies were born on Jan. 25. I finally got to bring my little Abigail home on March 28!
