I woke up to THIS... 4 Attachment(s) Wow, so I made a post a while ago about the terrible burrs we have around here. Little stickers that get stuck soooo bad in Abbey's hair. Well they usually only get stuck in her legs and it is terrible. Well this morning she comes in and she is absolutley covered. Head to toe. It was so sad bc even her little face was just...matted down with stickers. The BF said he took her out and that she rolled in them. It took over an hour to get them all out and she lost a lot of hair. I would say there was easily over 100 in her hair. I had to share bc this was just unblievable. I didn't take a pic of them in her hair but this is the aftermath... And I apologize for this poor quality...cell phone pics. 1. That's a plastic tupperware FILLED with the burrs we took out. 2. Burrs and hair...so sad. 3. My poor baby. 4. Sweet baby resting after the ordeal. |
awwwweee poor liitle girl! She looks relieved thought to be burr free. We live quite close to each other. I am New Braunfels. |
awwwwww poor baby. Jeanie cries so much with just a brushing, that must have been terrible to get out of her.....:( :( |

OMG that's ALOT ! you can go out and pull or kill those burr plants - we had a few in my yard and I'd yank those suckas up so fast not one burr would survive.... my apartment I just moved to has them - I avoid those areas now that I know where they are - they're awful aren't they ???? |
aww poor baby...i remember last year i had to do the same for Tootsie... |
Awww...the poor little thing. Those burrs are very nasty indeed. |

And thanks for your concern about Abbey, she was very happy when it was over. I kept telling her "I HAVE to do this, I'm sorry." |

Grass burs! Eeek! I ran into some of those with Muffin when we were in Texas one year! I hate those things. |
Awe, poor lil girl!! That's terrible! I'm glad you were able to get them all out, hopefully she doesn't roll in them again. |
Poor puppy! She's so cute!!!! She looks just like my Abbey! She just got her first puppy cut! |
Awww, poor Abbey! How awful! I have Max shaved down all the time (esp. for summer)...if she has the kind of coat he's got, they end up feeling like a little seal they're so silky-soft! I love it when he first gets done. Madison on the other hand has not such nice hair, so he can't get shaved like that...and the poor little guy; he's the one who gets matted so badly:(. Hopefully your BF won't be taking her wherever he walks her anytime soon! |
you should move...... or shave your poor dogs.. what a mess.. find out where those burs are and chop them down....:) |
awww poor baby girl! Im glad you could give her relief though by getting them all out! I hope she learned her lesson not to ROLL in the burs! LOL :) |

i was just telling my hubby about this and said that in texas the burs are unbelieveable and if you step on one it literally draws blood.. then i saw where you are from! lol. i had to laugh about that.. im glad you got them out-they can be really painful-i had a dalmatian that used to step on them occasionally when i was stationed there, and she would just freeze-lift her paw and look at me-id dig it out. i felt so bad for dogs there.. |
Oh, no! :2omg: What a horrible feeling! :( You have my complete sympathy. We have one tree in our whole yard and for the first time ever, it dripped this sticky sap in the yard, unbeknownst to me until a few weeks ago when our three were playing and rolled aaaallllll in it. I got most of it out but there were a few spots that I had to cut out. It honestly made me sick to my stomach. But I know your baby is happy that you got her all taken care of and fixed up. |
Those things are so horrible. Duke picks up a couple every now and then, I don't know where from, but I have a cat who I swear has 3x the amount of hair as duke, and wherever he roams to, he picks up tons of them! I know what it takes to sit there and pick them all out, poor baby. It's bad when they are on their face too. Good thing you are moving soon! Hopefully your new place wont have them! |

I used to live in OK and we had those stickers everywhere. I remember walking barefoot through the (dead) grass and getting those things stuck in my feet. There is like no possible way to avoid them either. Stupid stickers! |
Poor Abbey. I'm glad you were able to get them all out. |
Poor thing! I'm up in Dallas and I certainly know about those darn texas grass stickers. I hate them! |
:aimeeyorkOMG, the poor little baby. She was covered in them:eek: I think I'd be more mad at my darling B/F if he ever did that to my yorkie baby:aimeeyork I am sure you gave him a talkin to.:animal-pa |

Awww, so much hair had to come out with the burrs?? I consider the ones that actually have points and hurt to be "stickers" and the flat ones are called burrs. I'm thinking this (the burrs) must be what your baby had. We live out in the country so they are a fact of life for us but all I have to do is just separate the hair a little bit that is around the burr and it comes out. There may be a few strands of hair in the pile of burrs when I'm done but not as much as you had. Maybe you had some stickers in with the burrs and they didn't come out as easily?? Yes, I would say no more walks in the woods unfortunately if you have them that badly out there. |

Find the plant and pull it up by the roots thats what we had to do because they were growing in our side yard |

I believe you..... if she literally rolled in them, I can see how that would have done some serious damage. Poor baby. At least she let you pull them out.... surely she didn't like it while you were doing it but it seems like she knew it was for the best. |
 .... wow ... poor Baby !!! |
