My picture was stollen from my website!!! I was browsing on puppyfind and while browsing I came across one of my puppies from my past litter!!! I am not very happy right now. Who gives them the right to use my picture of one of my past puppies as their own:eek: Should I contact this person? How do I protect my pictures from being stollen ever again? Thank You |
I have no answers but I would think if you contacted PuppyFind...they would put a stop to it. How to avoid it...no clue what to say. Shame on these people for taking what does not belong to them and treating it as if it does. This is false advertising, right? Theft? Fraud? |
OH NO!! I dont have any advice but it seems to be happening more and more lately :( |

But if I were you I would contact the person and tell them to take your pictures off immediately. Also put a light wording through the center of all your pictures so if someone were to take them it would have your kennel name or business name on it and they couldn't edit it out without erasing the whole picture. |
I would definitely contact PuppyFind and report the illegal use. Because it is the web, you may have a little trouble but most sites will remove pictures if any issue is reported, right or wrong. In the future, depending on the photo software you use, you can add a watermark on top of posted photos. That way, people visiting your website can see the pictures but whatever logo you choose will be displayed on them forever. If someone chooses to use one of them, every other person out there who sees it will see your website logo. The beauty of watermarks is you can save one folder of pictures with them and one folder without them for your private use. Look into doing it, it is worth it and your pictures will never be stolen again. |
Not only do they claim to have my past puppy for sale they have MY puppy listed under TEACUP BOY (she happens to be a girl)!!! My puppies will never be teacups nor would I ever advertise as teacups. This little girl they are advertising for sale is now full grown at 4 1/2 pounds living in Florida not Ohio lol. |
YOU may want to talk to MIKE (ALASKA YORKIE) I know he knows how to place watermarks on pictures. Maybe he can share how to do it with you;) |
I also believe that a similar situation happened to Villette, not to sell the puppies but some kind of ad. Best of luck, maybe you should also send them an email and question them... |
I am not really good at confronting people. So how does this email sound? I do not appreciate that you have stollen one of my puppy pictures to sell her as your own puppy! This puppy does not even happen to be a boy and mostly not a TEACUP!!! My puppies will never be advertised as teacups either. This puppy so you say is for sale happens to be full grown and 4 1/2 pounds not no teacup! What you are doing is false advertising, Theft and Fraud. How hard is it to take your own pictures? I want my picture(s) removed from all of you advertising ASAP!!!! |

Not harsh at all, they are your property and you are allowed to ask for it to be removed. |
so sorry it was taken. I would contact the webmaster. |
If you buy your own domain then you can set it so that anybody that tries to right click to copy it won't be able to. An air message with a message of your choice (something like this pic is the property of.............) |
Hey, I might even add in there that if he/she did not comply, I would be contacting the AKC and lodging a formal complaint against them as a breeder. Surely the AKC wouldn't condone breeders committing fraud in this way. I am not a breeder and complaining to the AKC may not even be something that can be done but the person stealing your pictures probably doesn't know that! LOL |
Here is the reply I just got back I am sorry but I do not know what you are talking about. The pics that are on my add were sent to me by the buyers of my puppies and they sent those to me as up dates. Which pic are you talking about. I will get to the bottom of this. |
Likely excuse...what ever!!! That is someone lying for sure. If nothing else they still need to remove the picture!!! |

When you put something up on the internet, expect everyone to take it, abuse it and do everything with it since you're already sharing it with the world. |
When I use to breed bunnies, I had people that stole my pics until I locked the pics so they could not be copied, and I placed water marks with my rabbitry and copy right date. And the response she gave you was ridiculous. Its an updated pic someone sent her? That basically says the pup she is advertising is not the one pictured. Still should be taken down regardless. |
Another Idea So I had another idea for you. Some states have given the state Attorney Generals power to handle these matters. Some have special internet task forces (yes they are mostly for sex crimes and major crimes but it can't hurt). They can send a stern email to the person threatening action so long as you can prove it. It varies state to state but you may want to look into it. You can also ask a friend who works at a law firm to send a "friendly yet legal minded" email from thier work account. It may at least scare them enough to remove the picture. It may be a stretch but you can also report the person to the better Business Bureau. You can file a complaint and even though it woB't be able to get very far because most people don't check breeders ratings, it wouldnt hurt. Just ideas....no one likes to be misrepresented or have things taken without permission. |
how dishonest! i would contact a lawyer, and have them send them a little legal letter telling them to remove the pics asap. also, the lawyer may have a better idea of where you can take this, and just how far you can go. |

When I leave my car in the driveway at night, I don't expect anyone to take it! It certainly doesn't mean I want to "share it with the world" Just because the pics are out there, doesn't make it right for people to take. |
The first thing you need to do is write her a cease and desist letter. If you know an attorney, place a cc to the address of the attorney. Even if you don't know one, place one anyway (ie: MarkWaldron@WaldronLaw.com). The only thing it will do is bounce back to you. Tell her she has 24 hours to remove it. After that legal action will begin. Don't say anything other than to identify the image and tell her something like this: I have previously contacted you regarding your use of my photo of my animal in an attempt to sell yours. This is an illegal attempt to sell something which you do not have. You may have a Yorkie pup, but not this one. Heeding the advice of my attorney, consider this to be a cease and desist demand. From this date and time, 12:00 midnight, 06/__/08, you will have twenty four (24) hours in which to comply and remove my image from any and all internet advertising where you have fraudulently placed it. After this time, a lawsuit will be commenced against you. The image will be analyzed by experts. Charges will include (but are not limited to) internet fraud, wire fraud, copyright infringement, false advertising, unfair business practice, and personal damages. No further requests will be made before commencement of legal action. I don't know....shrugging my shoulders.....something like that. |

Thank you everyone for all your help!!!! You guys are the best :D I just recieved another email and here is what it said Hello- I have tried all day to get ahold of the lady that sent me the pic of her puppy. It is just bouncing back to me. I am very sorry if she took your pic and used it as the pup I sold to her. Now it is making me feel like something has happened to the lil one that I sold to her. Again I am sorry and I have deleted it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention for I never would have know. |
Well I'm glad she deleted your pictures! Her story was full of it though. I agree with everyone else, definitely learn how to do watermarks! It'll definitely prevent this from happening again. Good luck!!! |

Hi, I'm sorry you had this happen to you. I've also had pictures stolen before and placed on puppyfind and nextdaypets. When it happened I contacted nextdaypets and puppyfind and they removed the entire listing. I've never figured out how to protect my pictures and I find it so sad that people would even do such a thing. I'm glad the picture was deleted but her story was a bunch of bull. :thumbdown |
oh my.. that is aweful.. report it as soon as possible.. then I would go after the breeder and charge her/him I am not sure why anyone would buy from puppyfind anyway.. but I guess when you do not know it is easy.. anne |
