How much did you pay for Nueter?? My vet charges $300. That just seems a little high to me but I have never had a male dog before so I m not sure. The $300 does include a mini blood panel and pain meds. Does this seem like the average price to you guys?? |
I havent had it done yet but I did ask last time I was at the vet and it is $165. |
Mini blood panel? I would ask them to define that, but it is higher than we paid, but I have heard that the cost of living is higher in Florida than it is here in central Texas. The whole package including the removal of 5 baby teeth and the full blood work was about half that here. The important thing is the blood work and how they do the anesthesia. Maybe someone in your area can give you a better idea of the price. |

Wow...are you really attached to the vet then? If not, I would ask around for recommendations from other small dog owners. |
I paid about that, but I also got his ear hairs plucked and his milk/baby teeth pulled. I do like my vet and I trusted him so I went there. I think it was a bit much to pay though, just use your gut. That's what I was told when I posted here and I'm glad I did. |

did ya get it?? |
Hey I actually got Meeko neutered at Vaishali's vet and it was $215. That included all the blood work and everything. The pain medicine was about $20 extra and then they charge you $20 for the e-collar but, that's refundable. Soo it ended up being about $235. |
Here it is about 200-250 |
I am going to be paying $130 bloodwork ,heated table, no overnight, meds a little extra like $20 . and if i need tetth done later then it will be only $50 i understand putting my baby under twice, my vet doesnt see a reason too mess with any teeth yet he is just now 5 mo neuter next wk.seems to be loosing them ok. |
That is the correct price for NY. |
That sounds about what I payed to have Rudy neutered. It was a year and a half ago, so I think I remember paying that amount. :D |
We love our vet, but they are one of the most expensive ones around. It is about 190.00 for a neuter. the main cost is anesthesia so if there is a chance he will need to go under again I would vote do it all at once. I just had buddy in to have 1 puppy tooth pulled and get microchipped and my total bill was 222.54. (96.31 for anesthesia, 67.20 for the blood panel, 12.06 for tooth removal, and 46.97 for microchipping.) |
I just got my poodle mix neutered this past Tuesday. We had pre-op blood work and laser surgery and it cost $193.00 It would have been about half that if we had not had the blood work and if we had just had the regular surgery. My vet said that laser was easier on the dog and recovery time was much quicker so went that route. It was worth the extra $65 for him not to suffer as much discomfort. He also got to come home that evening instead of having to stay at the vet overnight. |
i payed about 230 he would have charged 10 per tooth but they all fell out on their own. |
Franklin's neuter cost me close to $300! I don't remember the exact cost but it did include a blood panel as well as post-operative pain medication. They also pulled for teeth at like $8 a tooth. They threw in a free "pet"icure... :p |
i called my vet and they said that the price was 45 dollars with anesthetics but additional pain medication would be extra. bring puppy to clinic in the morning and when all goes well, then take em back home at night =] |
I had Scooter nuetered just over a week ago. It cost me $250 at my regular vet. I shopped around and even though my vet was not the cheapest, some of the low-cost places didnt seem as comforting. I love my baby, as everyone on here does, and I dont know what I would do without him. The low-cost places gave you tons of options that you could add or cut out (blood tests, screenings, etc). I don't have a medical background and when I called some of the low-cost places, I didn't like thier answers. I also called the vets that some of my co-workers go to in order to find out what they would charge me. They were going to charge me new patient fees since I had never been there before and would need to do more preliminary stuff. By the time I added up the new fees with the nuetering from the recommended vets, it would have cost me the same as it was to stay at my vet which I trust. I say analyze the cost but be sure to weigh it with your comfort level and your feelings about the vet. By choosing my vet, I was able to stay at work and not worry out of my mind that something was going to happen and he would never be the same. He is doing great and I don't regret the decision. Good luck. |
It was up above $400 but one of his little nutty buddys didnt drop like it was supposed to so they had to go in abdominally and get it....like a spay. Plus I had him microchipped at the same time which was $75. :animal36 |
Free..max was neutered by the aspca mobile clinic. while it was not his reg vet, the vet was awesome and they were all so friendly and answered all my questions. That night he was running around (I had to try to keep him calm) and back to himself. |

I forgot to mention...It cost another $357 when I had to go back 2 months later to have his baby tooth pulled. Ugh!!!! It's a good thing we love these little guys as much as we do.:) |
My vet charges $65 and $13 for pre-op blood work. |
I paid $65 at People for Animals in NJ. They base it on how much the dog weighs and if its male or female. |
seems high... i paid $160 to get Kash neutered. the cost included surgery, better anesthesia (PropoFlo), and the blood work. the vet told me i probably wouldn't need meds, but to come back if Kash seemed like he was in pain. but he was completely fine after one day, so i saved $15 i think. anyway, $300 seems like a lot... unless they plan on pulling baby teeth as well. that would cost extra. however, Kash's adult teeth hadn't started coming in yet, so no teeth were pulled during his neuter. thanks! |
We have a discount, no-frills spay and neuter clinic here. I just had Gus neutered in May (he's 2 years old), and it was $59 for the neuter (including everything), plus $15 for an optional 3 days' worth of pain meds. They were absolutely wonderful, and Gus did great. I also spent $10 on an e-collar, but that's it. |
I paid $350 for my dexter! It does seem high though... |
I went to the low cost humane society clinic and they charged only $30! The vet there was very professional and the surgery went very well! I could not be more happy with them! |
