If you are using an expen and they are still escaping try getting a pen cover or a taller pen. GOOD LUCK to all with escape artist puppies!! |
Maybe he had to go to the bathroom and excape was the only option. I don't believe keeping them in the crate for too long of periods except overnight. Could you use an x-pen or use a open crate in the bathroom that has been gated off? |
When I brought Buttons home I would leave him in the kitchen and gate if off. It's pretty big so he had lots of room. Put his potty pads and toys, food, water etc. Well, when I came home from work he was at the front door. I couldn't figure out how a little 2 ld pup could get out. I asked my hubby and daughter if they let him out, no! So, I decided to put him backand go down the hall and peek. The little stinker would climb up the to the top and fly off, like he was superdog or something. I figured the gate was too low, (2.5 feet) for the "Flying Buttons" and just let him roam the house. He's almost 3 now and still loves to climb and jump. Only 3-4 accidents in the house, ever!!!! Such a good boy :) |
Hehe - Flying Buttons....lol. So after ordering both a bigger crate w/divider, and an expen cover from 2 different websites, I realized, I have a blanket big enough to cover the top of the expen! Spent another $180 before thinking clearly. So this weekend, I tried out my contraption....put up the expen in the kitchen, draped the blanket over top, then used fridge clips to clip it to the edge of the expen. 3 hrs later, when we came home, the pup was still in the expen! Voila! For those of you who are buying expen covers, you may find that there's a very inexpensive way to come up with a makeshift cover. Too bad my genius idea came too late, and my internet orders were not able to be cancelled. I guess I could return them, but then i'd have to eat the shipping both ways. Boo. |
