Jackson was 6lbs at 12 weeks old and is now 12lbs fully grown. :)

my baby is 10 weeks and when we went to the vet he weighed 3.3lbs which was last week... about how big should I expect him to get? just wondering... it really doesnt matter... :)

6 lbs at 14 weeks?? wow big baby my baby is 12 weeks and 2.4 pounds

Wowza!! I don't think I've ever heard of a yorkie that big at 14 weeks!! You will definitely have a big teapot!! :D

Mine was 2.3 lbs. at 12 weeks & is now 4.8 lbs at 10 months. He hasn't grown or gained any weight since he was 7 months old.

The "rule of thumb" it to take the 12 week weight and double it... it worked perfect for us! There's really no for sure weight though. I would guess your baby will maybe be around 7lbs. But I dunno!

I dont trust the charts. They had Tucker pegged at 7 pounds as an adult. You cant always go by the size of the parents either.
When Tucker was 4.5 months old he was 5 pounds, I honestly didnt think he would grow to much more, since he came from 4 pound parents. BUt I was wrong..:) He continued to gain weight untill he was around 8/9 months old where he reached 9 pounds and has stayed there. He is solid as a rock and not an ounce of fat on him. He is my little muscle man..:) If your little one is already at 4.5 pounds, at 13 weeks, he will be on the bigger side, probably 9/10 pounds. More to love..:)

Jackson was 5lbs at 9 weeks old, and 6lbs at 12 weeks! LOL. He's 12lbs now but he's still not by any means a huge dog. He's my "little" teapot for sure! ;)

My lil yorkie man also was 6 lbs at 14-15 weeks. He's pushing 7 right now and is 4 months old. He's a lil chunker :p Well, not really, but the hubby and i just like calling him that. We also call him Tank. I'm hoping he'll top out at just 10 lbs, although i'm sure he'll get to 12-possibly over. hoping it wont be over 12 at most, i really don't want him to get too much bigger than Bella. He uses his body a lot during play, and just plows right through her (hence the nickname Tank:D )

Britster-how tall is Jackson? Does he have a long body? I'm just wondering if his weight is compact, or more spread out? Thanks!

Chase was 5lbs at 12 weeks, and now at 10 months he is almost 14lbs, and the vet says not overweight at all. It just depends on your puppy :)

Jackson's pretty long, and skinny... if you look at some of my pics on my profile page, you can probably find a side-view shot somewhere. He's not chunky at all, he's pretty skinny actually, so I think most of his weight is muscle. He's fairly solid.

Buddy was 6.5 lbs at 14 1/2 wks and he's 16 lbs now.
Your got yourself a Teapot. They are wonderful.

Buddy was 6.5 lbs at 14 1/2 wks. I especially picked him out because
he was the cuteset furball I ever saw.

breed standard is 7 or below, so what does it mean when yorkies are big? I saw a story that they were being bred to be bigger since there were so many problems with littler ones... so why haven't they changed the standard.
Was just wondering what it meant to have a yorkie that was heavier than 7 pounds? or if the standard has changed

The standard is still 7 pounds or less. Yorkies originally used to be larger, the original "creator" or foundation of the Yorkie was a dog named Huddersfield Ben and he was between 9-12lbs himself, however most of the pups he sired ended up being smaller. However, that size can still be in the Yorkie's gene pool, thus causing some pups to be larger than others. It doesn't mean that they're not a Yorkie. Larger size can occur due to a number of things, though: bad breeding, puppy mills, people who don't do genetic testing on their breeding dogs, but even dogs who are under 7lbs can sometimes produce larger puppies. There's no guarantee.

Personally, I wish they would either raise the standard a bit (maybe to 10lbs) OR have 2 classes of Yorkies (sort of like the Poodle: toy, standard, etc) I think it's awesome to be able to have the same breed, yet in a larger package. I would never want a Yorkie under 8lbs. To me, Jackson's size (12lbs) is perfect for our lifestyle. But I love the Yorkie breed.

Charts didn't work for me... My little guy was 5 lbs at 5 months. Now at 1 1/2 year old - he's 16 pounds! Not sure when he'll stop growing - definitely wasn't 7 months.
